That's a cool little project! They look good. I really respect that although you make a living out of these things, you still choose to share so many details. Thank you.
ladedk Thanks for watching! I am going to make new type soon.
I wish I could get an internship with you. I've looked at a lot of cutting boards videos and your work is definitely up there. I'm glad you can make a living doing what you like. I love your stop motion videos as well and the fact that you let people see how you make your stuff and even sell plans for them for a very reasonable price too.
+Fred V. Lord of Glencoe Thanks!
+mtmwood I was hoping you would tell me to come over.... :)
Fred V. Lord of Glencoe Sorry.:)
You must have real respect for your knifes
Loved when your "helpers" were assisting you in stacking your lumber.
The main thing is not to give them to push machines buttons. )
Very great job !!
Thanks
My goodness, what good looking little helpers you have. :) Very neat project, that's a great idea for use in the shop!
Thank you!
as always, nice work
if you wanna, you can increase the strength if you use mounting magnets. even one steel disk in the back of each one, before the glue in 3:14 can help
Watch new version - ruclips.net/video/pD9SaN303us/видео.html
Brilliant....
Super cool. One other approach (for those without a CNC machine) is to drill the block all the way through, and then veneer over the holes. Looks great!
Thank you! My previous version was using veneer - Making a magnetic knife holder
UN PROYECTO BASTANTE INGENIOSO.
I'm always glad to watch your videos. I have learned a lot about end grain cutting boards. those are my favorite ones. I wish I had a cnc so I can make maple blanks with inlay like you. keep up the good work!
Thanks! CNC opens up great possibilities.
what...no links to everything you used to make the knife holders!?
can you believe it....my wife saw this video and now she wants one for the kitchen! I'll have to use a router since I don't have CNC machine. I told her the month of January is filling up with projects, it might be February.
You can try to insert magnets from the front side - ruclips.net/video/xG2uoV056dE/видео.html
Quick question... Are those dolphins on your sanding pad?
Yes. I use polypropylene mat to protect and fix the workpiece during sanding. My eldest daughter is also laughing at these dolphins.
Very nice! Tonight I'm filming my weekly woodworking show and will be featuring this video. Love your work!
Drunken Woodworker
Thank you!
YOUR AWSOME!!!!!!!
What cutting speeds and feeds do you recommend for your CNC?
It depends on the hardness of the wood, milling depth and router bit diameter.
Usually I set 0,5-1 meter per minute and 18000-21000 rpm.
I really enjoy your videos, especially the parts where your boys jump in. I'm wondering where you got the stop block for your miter station at 1:17 in this video. Great work.
This is a Festool stop block
Thanks for information your video very helpful, and i want to ask what kind of magnet do you use?
Neodymium magnets - 20x3 mm
Reduce processing time by using hot glue instead of wood glue to install the magnets. Ensure the moisture content of your raw stock is lower than 40% to reduce the chance of cracking defects. Beautiful product, thank you for sharing your talent!
budhrseh2001 I use only kiln dried wood - 6-8%. I am afraid that hot glue is not strong enough. I am going to make a new batch of knifeholders soon.
mtmwood Matthias Wandel did testing on glues that included hot glue. woodgears.ca/joint_strength/glue.html
Kevin Stempien Thanks! I've seen these results.
Not having a CNC, I see myself doing this with a dado along the back and forstner bits for the slots, thoughts?
Bobby DeLuna Yes, it it possible. First, it is hard to insert 20 mm magnet into 20 mm forstner hole. I made 20.5 mm hole at CNC. So make 20 mm hole and insert 18 mm magnets. Second, forstner bit has center needle which can drill the wood through. So it is better to use 20 mm (or smaller) router bit.
+Bobby DeLuna Chump, you dont need no stinkin' CNC. WTF? Pull it together if you want to go pro. Think.
Makes a nice holder for anything steel or iron.
thanks
Thanks
Your Welcome
Thanks again for another excellent video. One question, how thick is the wood between magnet and outside face after cnc?
I made 1.5 mm.
mtmwood At 4:05 you showed a cracked piece of walnut? Does this mean 1,5mm was not enough? Did it crack also with the other woods? I presume 1,5mm and not more, because of magnet strength will be less?
boristhebarbarian No, it cracked because the wood shrink a little and the pocket was small for the magnet. I inserted the magnets in the pockets with pressure. The strength falls greatly with every additional mm.
that shop is a dream, so obviously you know what you're doing... but bro?... why so much glue? A bead around the corners and there's no way those magnets are coming out. That must have taken days to dry.
I bet you have the nicest things in your house.
+Keith Story why are you a crook lookin' for no good? Chump!
+JJ Atomicano what the hell are you talking about?
Great videos! What size magnet? Rare earth I assume? Love your work.
I used neodymium magnets 20x3 mm.
+Anton Kalinin
Hi!
So, you do not use epoxy, do you?
And...another one good video. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes I use epoxy. But it is more work and more expensive. The common glue is strong enough to hold the magnets.
cool
Take care
Owsem. Just let the kids to cr god bless all
how much would you charge to make me one of those

Can he build a house with A Hammer ad Sawzaw?
so where I can buy them :)
mtmwood.com/en/decor.php
thank you Sir
i see 2 Angel :))
Hai Van No angels, were cosmonauts!
After all that at least he could've hung a....knife....
Ilya Ognev
mtmwood

" Look I'm rich, I got Festool everywhere and a CNC and a planer and .... I got for 30k of piece of machinery and I can do evrything compared to you poor people ! ". You're like "the wood whisperer" you make wideo just to show everyone how it's easy when you got money ! My favorite channel of woodworking ? Jimmy DIresta's one ! He's doing things much more valuable than your CNC machined cutting board because he puts his heart in it, not his money ! Why presenting yourself as a simple amateur while in fact you are a professional ? Why not imbed the tool brand's logo in your video to be more clear ?
+skyhacker6 I like Diresta's channel too.
You sound very salty there dear sir!
+skyhacker6 well, yeah, he is rich for an average wood-maker, and yes, he is utilizing RUclips channel for his business marketing purposes; BUT he is sharing knowledge with the world, and that is considered as a fair trade-off nowadays. Jimmy DiResta is not without means either, poor people don't chop wood wearing $8K watch.
So, grow-up and do something skillful and decent that is worth sharing.
+skyhacker6
you must be some kind of seriously repressed idiot to spew some much hatred over a guy making an honest living and be jealous of him at the same time.
There's enough stuff on youtube for you not to leave your 14 year old teenage girl comments here.
Nobody forces you to neither watch his videos or buy his tuff, so move on, get a life and let the rest of us enjoy his work !!
Fred V. Lord of Glencoe
What I don't like is not the quality of his work it's the way he makes his video to show how easy it is when you got many professionnal tools and a CNC. If he want to promote his work, why not make an introduction, with some sponsors at the biginning, some music, add some tech/tips face camera, tanks his fans etc. No, here it's just a professionnal who make video as if he was an amateur, but it's a professionnal who's getting a living from that. Secondly that's not what I call "woodworking", more "CNC-made stuff", many on YT tends to call themselves woodworker when finally they just sit on their PC to play with their CNC and just add some finish to the work and say "look what I've done !". And yes I love woodworking and created many piece of furniture with my brain, my hands and some powertools, i'll do a video on what I already did to let you see I'm not just a guy posting comments without experience in that field.
