Great playing and demonstration of the PST8s. I honestly think these are very underrated and one of Paistes best products in terms of price/performance. I love the Signatures, 2002s and Rudes, but they're hard to get on a reasonable budget. These give you like 80-90% of the sound for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price, it's ridiculous.
Thanks for the comment! I totally agree. I want to add 8" splash and unfortunately PST8 only has a 10" so I might have to bite off the Signature price, but I can't complain at all about the sound and the affordability of these babies. Please subscribe I have more content coming, plus the full version of this song. Thanks again.
@VERNON JACOBS I like them all, PST7's sound great and are pretty mellow. I definitely like the med./universal set of PST8 over the rock set . The rock set is heavier. I tend to like my cymbals to be thinner and brighter. You may have a different taste. The 900s are really nice too, but I have never owned one. But from what I have herd of them they sound great. I like the 900 color sounds. I think a set in black would look great with my kit. I also love the reflector finish on the PST8. So it's really preference. If I had to place them in a category based on my preference. I would say Pop R&B, I think the PST7s are perfect. Rock PST8, Meduim or Universal set. Harder Rock PST8 Rock set or 900s. Really you can't go wrong with any of them. They all sound incredible for the price point. Hope this helped!
Agree, love my 2002 set, but now that i’ve discovered the pst8 (i thought they stopped at pst7) i’m more and more convinced to switch my 2002 to pst8 for common weekend gigs and leave the 2002 only for recordings and “higher quality” gigs
Gibson Harley Fan thanks for the comment! Yes I was really impressed with them. I love signatures, but it’s hard to justify the cost increase when these sound so good!
A random YT pick but worth watching and listening. I enjoyed the full rock sound in the mix and the cymbals fitted well in their own niche. I’ve looked but haven’t seen you mention the sticks you were using, perhaps Promark Firegrain 5s? It’s important as they’re a heavier stick and accordingly give you a powerful hit with an accordingly slight drop off in finesse. I use them for similar musical arrangements and would definitely appreciate using those PST 8s too!
Thanks for your comment. I have always used Vater Nightsticks. Been using them for some 25+ years. The are a beefy stick, but I like them because it allows me to control the volume. They also last a good amount of time for me. Most sticks I have tried break to easy, The Nightsticks are just perfect for my playing.
Thanks for the comment, I actually just switched to Giant Beats. My latest video has my new set up. The Giant Beats are much tamer. I'm going to use these for live performances, and the Giant Beast for recording.
@@augustdrums1247 awesome. I totally understand the Giants for recording. These are great cymbals.. I have Meinl Classic Custom Dark and have always been a Paiste fan I'm looking because these are the band for the buck. Awesome. I hope you have future success.
Thanks for the comment!. I was looking to add a splash yesterday. I had a Signature in the shopping cart ($189) Then I found a PST8....It's $66. I mean why spend triple? These sound perfectly fine! I can't think of one bad thing to say about these cymbals. Subscribe, I have more content coming. Thanks again.
Thanks for the comment. I still have the medium ride, I have always liked bigger, heavier rides. The 22" Rock ride was better for me. I actually bought the full Rock set first, but I tend to like thinner, brighter crashes. The rock crashes just weren't bright enough for me. So this is a good mixture for me. I still toy with getting sound edge hats, but I always go back to this recording and then talk myself out of spending the money.

I swear I do it to myself every few months. Because I can replace these with Signatures. Sweetwater has 0% on them, but I listen to this and I can't justify the extra money for the Signatures. It would make zero sense to spend that money when these sound so good.
@@augustdrums1247 when i checked the price at Sweetwater (from your link on description), you know, I'm shocked. Because it's $495.00 Which is equivalent to IDR 7,100,000 (because i live at Indonesia)

@@augustdrums1247 sorry for the errors in the previous comment, I was tired. Yep, I like it's very pingy and defined. It has a Paiste character for sure. I'm gonna give it a try.

Yes, I have a 24" 2002 ride now and it sounds great! I still love the heavy sound though of this PST8. So I kept it for live stuff, but really if I'm being totally honest, the PST8 is a fraction of the cost of the 2002 and I would say it isn't that much better. Its definitely better but not as much as the price tag would reflect, in my opinion. I just like putting myself together, lol.
Yeah they are really great. Great bang for the buck! I switched over to 2002, but I kept the PST8s for live performances they are awesome!
