Been wondering, as a Finnish person, what's it like to be from a country that people actually know about, and have an overwatch or rainbow six hero native to you. With Junker Queen, maybe i should feel bad for australians and not wonder about a finnish hero
As a Swedish person and thus has 2 heroes, it's hit or miss. On the one hand you get Brigitte who actually speaks Swedish, but her being Swedish has absolutely 0 impact on her character and she could easily be any nationality and it wouldn't change a thing. On the other hand you have a robot-hating Warcraft dwarf who literally can't even pronounce his own name. I seriously doubt they'd add any other Nordic heroes though, in their mind we're all the same anyway and no one would be able to tell the difference. Sweden's the largest and most well known, so that's what they're sticking with. If they ever did make a Finnish hero, it would 100% be a sniper in a white outfit, a stern look, and they'd be dead tired all the time. They'd have a stealth ability and some kind of coffee injection to get a boost.
My kneejerk idea of a finnish character would be a big dude in a sauna who listens to metal and drinks vodka. Idk what that has to do with overwatch, though.
I've been kicking around an idea for a melee ability for Pharah in my head forever and this is what I've come up with.. "Passive - Wristblade; Pharah's first melee attack every 15 seconds gains extra range, damage and knockback based on how fast she is moving or falling relative to the damage recipient." This would be so much fun for such a simple addition IMO. It would give her some teeth when she's on the defensive or being ran down by hyper-mobile heroes. Or it could be used to secure flashy kills by dropping onto or booping herself straight into a squishy to slash them.
Just give Pharah Drogoz ult and she'll finally have a decent ult. In fact just rework Pharah into Drogoz and turn her model into him. Take every skin he has and bring em over as well.

Bad DPS due to no splash + weak directs, bad ult because stationary and stupid rocket spread, shockingly slow aerial movement. By choosing to make her super easy for plebs/console enjoyers to use they gave themselves no choice but to make her trash in lobbies where players have hands. That's the Ted talk.

I recently played wow for the first time and noticed just how much the tank/healer/dps triangle belongs to that game. And I think I noticed that having those roles in an fps is probably a mistake, and is a big part of why the game has been impossible to balance in a satisfying way. That and headshots are dumb, dps is the only class which has such a variable number for the balance equation. You can't do headshot heals, you can't give headshot shields. Those numbers are fixed. Why even then they would add headshots to shotguns or tracer pistols is beyond me, it's not a skillful element it's basically random Thus, the triangle even in execution is broken. More fundamentally though, I don't think it does good things to the game and we've only moved closer towards it since release. Symmetra used to be a different type of support that didn't heal, now look at her. A baseline of healing on supports is a necessity and it's a worse game because of it. I'm convinced that the 3 boxes of healer / dps / tank is where creative designs go to die. This has been your algorithm comment. Like and subscribe to ster 2
Yeah, that about tracks. Since the game is designed around the combat triangle it makes characters measurable by their ability to fit their role in the triangle, which makes objectively good and bad heroes and runs counter to picking the character you want or enjoy. A DPS must deal lots of damage. A tank must absorb a lot of damage. A support must negate damage through healing. It can be circumvented somewhat with gimmicks (Roadhog's hook, Sombra's hack) but if you can't leverage your gimmick enough the blame will fall on your lap whether you deserve it or not. It sucks, too, because there's a lot of core issues like this in Overwatch. Stuns as a whole are a nightmare to balance but they're also integral to several characters' kits. Hanzo's arrows can alternate between useless and insane depending on how lucky the user is, but the only way to remove that is to basically delete Hanzo. Mercy has to have a rez ability, and at this point I think even Blizzard knows she shouldn't. I want to enjoy Overwatch so much. I wish I could enjoy the game as much as I did in the beta when gameplay boiled down to "kill bastion, spam voice lines, pile on the point".
Overwatch was a lot more fun before they forced you to queue into roles, in my opinion even moreso before they forced single pick of any one character.
Was gonna send this to my friends to try and get them interested in Overwatch again but some of that combat was so painful to watch it might backfire 😆
He'd make it so that pharah has a detonateable projectile like dynamite that can also make her targets weak to aid her ttk and then he'd give pharah an ultimate that is guaranteed to at least send 1 person to spawn other than yourself. Also he'd make her into a big, angry dragon man in order to aid in his acquisition of tax credits.
Damn, Ster looking normal AF and totally not like someone who would shit himself playing overwatch and then still finish the round.
