Netflix show idea. "History according to Gillis" every episode is a different countries history with Shane explaining it. Animated graphics the whole lot. Historians prepping the material and Shane reviewing the script to throw jokes over. Specials on conflicts etc. This series would kill
... for context, India was colonized by the East India Company. Not the British government - literally, a corporation owned India. Same company who's tea was dumped in Boston Harbor. A century or so later, the Indians fought the War for Independence against the company (which White people still call a "Mutiny"), which they lost, and then the British government took over.

back then war was the legal continuation of politics.. so when there was an issue that couldnt be solved they would march against each other ... meet in in the middle and try one last time to hammer out terms... if nothing was accomplished they would start killing (and remember Armies werent that big ofc there were big armies but usually there were maybe in the high hundreds) they needed the men to run the country later (crops and shit like this) up until they actually formed standing armies with Career Soldiers... Wars were more in the high thousands. Waterloo alone had almost 200k soldiers present. Even before that, battles like the Battle of Agincourt were around 20,000 troops on the field. So definitely not in the high hundreds lol, in the thousands and hundred of thousands
I love Shane's normie-fied interest in history. He's only interested in things that happened in the last 300 years and it's mostly just great man stuff and military stuff. No analysis, not really trying to get at any sort of greater understanding of the human condition, really just enjoying history as entertainment. Academics and psuedointellectual weirdos will think this is a bad thing but its much less cringe than beingi genuinely find it refreshing.
That also affects you. The best comics in the game are not active. Many are not even known. Even if they are (Like me) they are ignored. Enjoy joking with a clique of comics or a friendly group of loosely associated individuals. Also bullying by those groups all teaming up seemingly as one group as a victim that hates the one individual as a collective group. Smothering the growth or ability to make it for outsider comedians nor promotion or privilege of any sort actually the very opposite no comedy privileges and kept out by remote outside access to the inside group or at the larger whole community. Stopping people like me joking around with anyone, or making movies or getting opportunities like Netflix specials (EG) what have you. Corrupt and a bad thing not only for me whom gets Shafter in such a bad regard I hate the fact that it's like this and ruins the comedy community completely. It sucks for my heart who enjoys working together with other funny people. Also the comedy scene means it corrupted from head to toe and shit scene comedy is from head to toe all the way the whole comedy scene f arked and dogged hardest by own supposedly fellow comedians. Sad
The sad reality of all these stories is that we see everything in our "enlightened" viewpoint and judge history to h--l, believing we are morally superior in judgement, behaviors, and understanding. Because modern day Americans rarely have it hard in the way some of those people did back when.
Japan is practically a US colony. After the war and the bombs the US imposed all kinds of restrictions on that country to get them to fall in line with western democracy.
Andrew Schultz and Joe Rogan are kind of confusing, in that I can't understand how they would appeal to anyone, on any level. Then I remember how incredibly dumb the average person is and it makes sense again.
Have you seen any of Schultz world tour stuff? The guy is able to show up at a location and within a day find very speciallised local material that makes it seem like he has been living their for years. I am Dutch and he was able to make a black pete joke that was legitimatly funny. Something barely any Dutch comedian's are able to do.

Damn this is a great idea. I’d definitely watch this.
Just have him do drunk history…
Drunk History is good too but if Shane had his own show he would do really well
I could watch seasons of drunk history hosted by only Shane
Make a million of these
bet. subscribe and i’ll make it a series 🫶
I love Shane telling Matt about history. Most of these other guys make it worse. Shane & Matt are 💯
"They turned India into a Walmart" is quite possibly the most accurate summarization of the East India Company that Ive ever heard😂
Let’s go man this channel gonna blow up
Love the support🫶🫶 appreciate it
Good job appreciate the video
Appreciate You bro🤝 thanks for the support
I could Listen to gills on history for days
Who is the guy with Matt and Shane at 2:33 ? Is he 7’ tall? And like 700 lbs? He looks at least twice the size of Shane
If I could go to any time to watch I’d love to see Da Vinci and Michelangelo do their thing. Big fan of those guys.
It's crazy, he sounds like Walter every time he does that impression
a new different axe shower every day.😂🍻

Well, "The Indian Mutiny" sounds a bit catchier than "The Indian Extreme Contract Negotiation." 😉
East India trade company also had its own military which recruitment was based in Ireland.
