＜曲目解説＞（Explanation）
「たなばた」とはアジア圏における節日のひとつで、日本では7月7日のことを指します。七夕伝説としても知られており、織姫と彦星が年に1度天の川を挟んで逢うことが出来る日とされています。
この作品は、作曲家「酒井 格」氏によって書かれた吹奏楽作品です。作曲者が高校生の時に作られたこの作品は、後にヨーロッパを代表する出版社のde haske社より出版され、今では世界中で演奏されている吹奏楽界のスタンダードナンバーとして愛され続けています。
この版はその吹奏楽作品をサクソフォンアンサンブル用に編曲したものとなります。ソプラニーノサックスからバスサックスまでの八重奏が一番演奏効果が高いですが、ソプラノからバリトンまでの六重奏でも十分演奏できます。
快活なテンポとキャッチーな旋律、そして中間部では織姫と彦星の愛を表現、終盤ではこの曲で出てきた各モティーフが巧に散りばめられたりと、とても内容の濃い作品となっています。
難易度的には少し高めですが、吹奏楽の原曲を知っている人も多い名曲ですので、サクソフォンだけのアンサンブル演奏でまた違った魅力が引き出せたらと思います。
“Tanabata" is an annual festival celebrated throughout Asia, and it is July 7 in Japan.
It is also known as the Tanabata legend, the day when Orihime and Hikoboshi meet once a year across the Milky Way.
Itaru Sakai composed this piece for concert band when he was a high school student and it was published by de haske, a leading European publisher.
Today, it continues to be loved as a standard number in the wind band world, played all over the world.
This edition is an arrangement of Sakai’s piece for saxophone ensemble. Although, conceived for an octet from soprano saxophone to bass saxophone, the piece can be performed as a sextet from soprano to baritone.
This new edition for saxophones only will give both audiences and performer a new experience to enjoy this classic piece..
A lively and catchy melody opens the work, followed by a more legato section that expresses the love between Orihime and Hikoboshi.
In the final section, each motif from this piece is skillfully interwoven to create an exciting finale.
There are some technical challenges for players, but because the music is so well known, it will be enjoyable to overcome them to realize the music.
