I just got it last day, and it’s pretty impressive strobe! I’m usually using a bunch of Profoto B10 units, but’s it’s good now to be able to find something similar about 4 times cheaper! Cheers from Japan!
Thanks for the great video! There is one thing what I don't find in any manual. How can I adjust the AD 300 from 1/16 steps to decimal steps (like profoto). F ex. 5.3 (instead of 1/32). It works on the Xpro display, but not on the AD 300.
I heard that the AD300 stand was not really good if the diffuser was heavy, therefore I have to look for another alternatives. Thank for the suggestion, great review
We recommend the S2 bracket for heavier modifiers. Throw the S2 bracket in with your modifier, and then the AD300 Pro can remain in its smallest configuration in your main bag.
I use the flip boxes from angler and smdv. Thankfully they now have a G1 adapter which you can easily put in place the ad300pro. I also have the s2 bracket but not interested. Too heavy and bulky.
I use wifi connection between my phone and my camera, is this why my flash misfires 40-50% of the time when trying to shoot with it? I get brand new speed lights, Flashpoint600, etc. and they always misfire all the time. @30:00
Can you please advise how to take apart godox ad300. I drop mine. Is out of warranty and not flashing anymore. I replaced the bulb, the display and continuous light work fine
Hi Udo! We're a Canadian retailer, so I couldn't tell you exactly when it will be available in Europe. We do ship worldwide if you are interested! (The spot is actually on the wall, and we've been meaning to touch that up. We left Kevin unsupervised in the studio one day)
On the Xpro controller TCM. There is a selection of Speedlight, 200, 360 and 600. Should I choose the 360 for this one? Coz the other 3 is obviously for those specific flash.
Hi Tatang, If you're using the frosted front cover, setting it to 200 might get you closer. You'll have to experiment a bit. The TCM function hasn't seen much love from Godox since it was implemented. We thought we might see more power settings with new firmware updates, but no such luck.
Hi Michon, The inner piece requires no screws, but the outer piece (whether its the Bowens, Elinchrom, or Profoto adapter) does. Once the outer adapter is installed correctly, there's no way for the inner piece to slide off. Promise!
For those who are Bowens mount users you have to buy the Bowens mount braket. Which really should be sold with the strobe it self, and many are Bowens mount users.
Hi Brett. We cover all of the mounting options in detail beginning at 8:28. Bowens users can add the fixed adapter, or opt for the S2 bracket instead. For convenience and visibility, we have a drop-down menu that allows you to select your mounting option right on our product page for the AD300 Pro.
@@Strobepro Unfortunately the S-braket has a poor quality handle and S-braket ll yeah it okay. But why use them when you can use the Bowens mount braket is far more useful. S-braket just another thing to carry around. But much appreciated you had replied. 👍
@@brettharrisphotography7463 We kind of like the S2 bracket option. Although it's something extra to carry, the S2 bracket can be stored in the bag with your modifier without much worry. The strobe then stores down as small as possible in your main bag with the expensive stuff (cameras, lenes, other lights, etc). The S2 Bracket also has a much larger friction disc than the mount that comes with the light, so I'd imagine it would do a better job of holding heavy modifiers over time. Just our $0.02! :)
@@richardbierman9856 Not a matter of belief. Lack of knowledge-due to the reason that the batteries might be classified differently for a reason. Actually, I've just found out although the batteries have the same physical construction and shape to be able to work on both flashes the VB3000P supports a faster recycle time. In other words, it has a higher efficiency to support a higher need for power.
Hi opqrst7! I think we promised you a comparative test between the two batteries, and we haven't forgotten. Just working on a lot of other video content for some new products.
I've done a few shoots on my channel with the godox ad300 pro and one time the battery died on me. Luckily I had my godox ad200 with me to swap out the battery so I can confirm this is true, however the godox ad300 pro battery does not fit in the godox ad200!
Not specifically; however, the Godox flash app allows you to control your flashes via a Bluetooth signal to the controller. The X2T and XProII are compatible. Alternatively, you could use a second controller in your hand. On the controller mounted on your camera, find the SHOOT menu option and select APP (X2T, XPro) or L-858 (XProII). These modes will make the controller function like a simple trigger for everything on the channel, allowing your secondary controller to have sole control over power settings.
great video, I just have a question, do you know that the AD300 doesn't use the ID function on the pro? Asking because I am unable to link the ad300 to the ad400 using the xproC any thoughts on how to fix that? anyone?

Those are the optical slave modes. If you're using a manual flash to trigger the strobe optically, choose S1. If you're using a TTL flash to trigger the strobe, choose S2 (S2 ignores the pre-flash from TTL).
If you can hear a click, but you aren't seeing a flash, that would usually indicate a problem with the flash tube. Try reseating the flash tube first and see if that helps.
Let me count the ways this went wrong. A cover with a hole in it that begs to be used to restrict light, but the cover melts if you use it. (I'm sure it's there to allow cooling when done shooting....but?) A proprietary mount that doesn't work with standard speedrings. But it has an adapter that you have to be careful with or it will break. When the adapter assembly is complete, the light looks as though it's too large to put back in it's case. That means that I have to assemble/disassemble for each use if I'm mobile? And, if I'm picky, the battery in the light looks like it's not a real part of the light as the finish is matte and the light is glossed. I'm only 12:29 into this and I'm done.
Hi Rick, The vented hole in the front is standard on most protective covers for the reason you mentioned. There is actually a big warning note etched onto the front cover, but we thought this was something that couldn't be overstated, so we mentioned it in our video. As for the various screw-on adapters, we agree that it's not necessarily ideal, and that's why we at the shop here tend to lean towards the S2 bracket instead. The bracket can remain in the bag with your modifier while the light is completely unencumbered in your main bag with your cameras and other flashes. That said, we are looking into Godox mount speedrings that will fit on our modifiers so our customers will have that option. In North America particularly, the Godox mount is the new kid on the block, and there are now only two readily available strobes that have that mount. Godox makes some of their strobes (like the AD600) in both Godox mount and Bowens mount, and the Bowens variant pretty much dominates the market.
