@@prokopievseafishing4137 it's probably a sting ray...it can be as big as 40 or 50 kg...it's very hard to take them out of the bottom, sometimes you can catch even bigger, but if you want to see the size of them next time don't use leader, just get a strong line, get wire line instead of fluocarbon, don't open the drag to much and fight it hard since they swallow the bite, will be easy to get them of the bottom
@@prokopievseafishing4137 when you fishing with dead bite at the bottom in madeira island 90 per cent of the fish that you will catch will be sting rays or skate,or sometimes even a manta ray or even hammer head shark, sometimes you can catch a big red snapper or a big bluefish or a guelly jack,or even a big amberjack, but most of the time the it will be sting rays
@@nunocorte3744 thank you for this info really appreciated. I'm planning new trip to Madeira in few moths . When is the best season for spining from the shore? Targeting Baracuda , Blueish and amberjacks bit happy to get any other predators. As well what you recommend to use on heavy casting bottom fishing to avoid the scates? Thanks a lot
@@prokopievseafishing4137 best season for spinning it's from december until may...you can catch barracudas, bluefish, amberjack, red snapper, bonito, white trevally, big garouper, blue runner, and if you really lucky you can catch a wahoo false albacore mahi mahi or king mackerel, but you can catch fish during all year...if you want to fish with dead bite and avoid rays the best thing to do it's fishing at mid water using a floater
hi it is the port of Machico . If you want email me on azpatso1@gmail.com and I can send you some more locations in Madeira and my observations of the fishing there
Feel so sorry about you. What fish are there? Mahi Mahi? Thuna? Next time stronger lines!!!!!!! At least 80 lbs leader and maybe a circle hook (if not used). The circle hooks getting hooked up in the front of the mouth, (J-hooks getting swollowed), so no abreviation at the mouth. For sure they were Mahi Mahi.
sorry for the late replay ,i just saw your comment .Actually in the 2nd part of the video i was using 100 LB varivas and braid Tasline Elite 100lb with average break on 64 KG , reel was 10500 Penn spin fisher . Actualy i have a lot of experience with small mahi mahi in Greece and i am believe that with that braid and and reel i can easy land big one 30+ KG , so 100% wasnt mahi mahi as well they are top water fish and chasing i hooked those on bottom fishing with dead squid
definitely stingrays 👍🏻 big ones
