For example one of the controllers can be user as a pen and you hold it has a pen and draw over a virtual board in the same app(That's just the cost of Apple Care for the Vision Pro). BTW, more FOV on Quest 3 110 degrees instead of about 98 on the Vision pro, and no chromatic aberrations nor distortions at the edges, like some reviews are reporting that are present in the Apple Vision Pro, that's really insane. Oh and BTW, did you know that there is even a FREE app to install on Quest 3 to record stereo videos also with the passthru cameras also, so there you have it, your "spacial videos" hahaha!
The point is that vision pro does these things but better, vision pro isn't first of its kind at all we all know that, also the controllers aren't needed on the vision pro as its hand and eye tracking are good enough not to require them
@@pneumonoultramicroscopicsi4065 Yes you right "better", more than $3500 and it have chromatic aberrations, vignetting, shape distortion and color fringing at edges (Quest 3 don't), less FOV and heavier than Quest 3, wired heavy external battery, no controllers option, what else? Sorry but, What do you mean with "Better" ? . Do you know the amount of HANDS that there are out there in the World? ... Picture this, you are in a plane working or watching something in the Vision Pro, and beside you there is this amazing 8 years old kid, jumping and moving around, and he decide to put his hands near your lower field of vision, near your pants may be, without touching you, may be he is playing and yes, those hands can move, pinch, select, scroll, anything that you are targeting with your eyes at that moments, yes .. because the interface it's controlled JUST BY HANDS. So, welcome to HANDS interference.
@aefox i'm not sure how vision pro handles hand interference as you put it, it might handle it well for all we know, no review complained about this issue, and i'm sure apple engineered a way to avoid this problem, as for display artifacts, most people who used vision pro praised the display and said that it is exceptional, the verge review was the first to point out these issues and we don't really know how bad they are, even the verge said that the display is great in spite of those artifacts and they didn't seem to think of it as a huge problem, they just said it's worse than real life, but they also said it's the best in its category so it's safe to say that those problems aren't that big of a deal and maybe even the quest 3 have them worse but it was just held to a lower standard than the vision pro that's why people don't talk about them, as for the price, sure it's very expensive, not much to say about that, hopefully their next iterations are more affordable, and i think they will be. For the wired battery i actually like it this way, the battery is a component prone to degradation and having it come separately allows for battery replacement without compromising the value of the device, it's also easily swappable, which makes you save time on charging the device if you have a spare batteey, i can also imagine battery accessories that are big and enable long battery life.
@aefox tbh my biggest gripe is the lack of true vr games, are they not supported at all or should we expect them with time? The main reason why i didn't get into macs is the lack of games, as a gamer i won't buy a device that doesn't support the games i care about on it, and no matter how good the vision pro is, i won't be swayed by it if it doesn't have gaming on its focus.
@@pneumonoultramicroscopicsi4065 Of course it lacks true VR games, it doesn't have controllers! You said they aren't needed because of hand and eye tracking, but for games they are, unless you're talking about very simple games where you don't have to move around. Using just your hands to move around will never come close to being as good and natural as using sticks.
This video was extremely thorough. Not sure if this device is for the masses (we didn't see the Meta Quest Pro take off) but it's certainly an interesting piece of tech.
Quest “Pro” was not pro at all. Didn’t even have a depth sensor. Video pass through was horrible. The quest 3 is the far superior product in every sense and even that really isn’t up to my standards for paying money for one. I’ll personally be waiting a few more years for one of these headsets
@@RelaxTake30 Interestingly enough the Quest 3 doesn't even use the depth sensor for it's passthrough. Makes no sense why the Quest Pro passthrough was so bad
@@WigganNuG The depth sensor is used for scanning the environment and keeping track of 3d space. It is not used in the passthrough camera. You can find this information online if you knew how to properly research, but test it yourself. Activate the passthrough on your Quest 3 then cover the depth sensor. Nothing changes. Be wary of spouting prematurely developed opinions, lest you make yourself look a fool
I would say the screen recordings look darker than what you see through the displays. You can't see the pixels and with foveated rendering the text or elements are sharp that you're looking and it responds in real time as you look around
I highly recommend The Verge review, they have a simulated representation of the display. They did a brilliant job and realistic take on the Vision Pro.
The cooking was a good use case in anoother channel., if the resolution gets there. My daughter could benefit from it, she needs a reading aid, and you could add a zoom screen there for reading etc. An electronic device repair technician could use it in a same way, the glasses could be hooked up in to a microscope and instead of looking through a lens or using a real screen, they could have a floating screen, and a diagram of components or circuits, voltage test results, inventory of available replacements parts on the side. Lego fans could have the instructions in AR (they already have some tablet based AR stuff), lego parts catalog, some inventory management system, highlighting a needed part in the parts pile.
Apple has not published the FOV. Sorry. The lenses automatically adjust when putting on the headset. You long press the digital crown. You can also swap in Zeiss inserts if you have a prescription or need readers
Come on, Barely any downsides? feels like a paid Ad not a review. The Verge did a much better and more realistic take on the Vision Pro. This "review" is unfortunate...
I dunno.. it all looks cool. but it seems that controllers are so much easier to work with. people just love to have the tactiel feedback. But maybe I'm all wrong :)
OMG>.. you're SOOOO WRONG... controller SUCK BALLS if you're trying to use that sucky laser pointer!! TERRIBLE UI choice by meta TERRIBLE. Hand tracking on META SUCKS compared to the AVP because of the power and obvious latency issues. Playing games is a different story OBVIOUSLY!
Are the 'Immersive Videos'/'Spatial Videos' simply static stereoscopic recordings? Or do they include 3D depth information, allowing you to move around inside the scene and look at things from different angles?
Spatial video format is just stereo video, yeah. There’s a setting that blurs the edges more and less as you please if I’m not mistaken but, the video itself is just stereo.
You cannot look around things from different angles, but this effect is simulated by having parallax at the edges. Meaning when you lean close, more of the video’s edge is revealed, akin to getting close to a window.
That's one of the still-to-solve problems of immersive 3D video. You can look around, i.e. change the direction in which you look. But as soon as you move your head's position a tiny bit, the effect is ruined, since you can't change perspective within the video. You always view it from the position where the camera was, when it was recorded. It feeld like the video is moving with you, and this can make you feel a little sick. On my Meta Headset, I once had an experimental app that alowed you to change not only direction, but also perspective within 3D photos. That was very cool and it relly immersed you within it, even if you could move only a view inches. But it needed a special file format and very expensive, experimentsl gear to record, so nothing you could do yourself. And only photos, bot video. If something like this would be possible vor video in the future, it would be great.
What is the FOV like? I can see that it will be far more comfortable when third-party companies start making accessories. I can see few issues with the face gasket. It doesn't look comfortable.
no one who's tried it complain about the gasket. I would go with real people experiences instead of "its "looks" uncomfortable (like what does that even mean?)
@@WigganNuG you don't know anything do you, stop thinking like a donkey. I have owned almost 20 VR headsets and I can see the Apple face gasket doesn't look comfortable and the FOV is wank. Anyway why talk about things you can't afford.
@@PySnek exactly, I like wmthat they are in the VR field but they are not setting a good example. + small FOV + Heavy weight + Extremely expensive + Not compatible with PCVR for obvious reasons + Chromatic aberration These are just few of the issues. I expected better from Apple.
I just checked. You get a warning that your hands may not be seen and you don't see them. But amazingly hand tracking still works and i can see the interface etc.
It has IR Illuminators that allow the cameras to see in the dark, although you can’t. Adding even more forward IR illuminators and a Night Vision Mode would be cool though.
But not LISTENING to it. Airpods might have a 'lossless' wireless connection, but none of the video streams offer LOSSLESS AUDIO... And where did they hide the SUBWOOFER? I'll stick to my Atmos setup & room shaking Sub!
Don't belive so. After a while the weight of it starts to bother so much that a 2h movie is unbearable. It is and always will be a screen attached to your face. Probably the future will bring variants so light that you will forget about them..like headphones today.
Something tells me you have never tried the Quest 3... Not saying it's the same, but I imagine you'll notice it being pretty damn good for the price. A lot of the experiences you were having on the Vision Pro are available on the Quest 3. To be clear, I'm not saying the Quest 3 does it better or doesn't... I'm simply saying it does. I feel as if there is a lack of knowledge about that and it really should be mentioned. Another example, I'm responding to this from inside my Quest 3... While using it as a multi-monitor setup on my PC.
i personaly think the quest 3 is the way to go for this year, starting with the price, next not having that huge external battery, and the best part the gaming experience, vision pro could be cool but isnt fun, quest 3 is fun until you sick.
Would not mind a consumer friendly version with cheaper lighter materials ,the front glass removed and a lower price because the rest of the tech on the vision pro is super impressive
Haven’t found anyone able to answer this yet: Is there any possible way to connect USB to this? Is the USB port on the battery purely for power? Has anyone actually tried connecting a USB accessory to it?
@@WigganNuG no, something that is "on the horizon" is something you can see and sail to. You simply mean, Apple plans to make a cheaper version, which is a "no duh" sort of statement, of course Apple plans to make many MUCH cheaper versions. But we have no idea when that next iteration will be. A year from now? Five years from now? We don't know, because it's NOT on the horizon.
Interesting that Meta never considered using an external tethered battery pack that might have shaved another ~300g off the weight of their Quest HMDs? Did Meta determine that a tethered battery was more of a nuisance than adding more weight to the headset?
I don't see how a tethered battery is that big of an issue, sure it's not "elegant" but the advantage is immense, it takes off some of the weight, and more importantly it increases device longevity, because battery often fails first and because it's not on device it can be easily replaced and it doesn't affect the value of the device, just because of this advantage alone of increased repairability i strongly welcome tethered batteries, i hope they'll become the norm, especially on something that costs 3500 dollars, imagine it losing so much of its value just because of the battery.
@@pneumonoultramicroscopicsi4065 How are going to get to sunglass sized AR devices WITHOUT a tethered battery? Think about it. Which is to say, I agree and EVEN MORE So than you do lmao :) Tethered batteries, for all they are getting shit on for some reason, MAKE SENSE!
Very cool. Now they just need to get all of this down to sunglasses size, and it might actually be how we do future work, etc. While I think it's amazing, wearing the headset is just too much. Can't imagine what they'll have about 5 years from now.
We will ALWAYS have full dive larger HMD's ; those are going nowhere for very obvious reasons. The AR Tony Stark Glasses with Jarvis built in is what you're talking about. Different use cases but yes, you will have wider adoption for those devices and its where ALL the big players North Star is headed for sure.
Now give me this kind of headset that uses normal version of Windows or that connects with a PC and acts only as a AR device instead of a monitor. That's all I need for work and entertainment.
Thats what Quest Pro was EXACTLY supposed to be. They just utterly screwed the pooch on the marketing of the thing, as well as lot of compromises that lead to its ultimate failure.
@@WigganNuG Yeah. They try to market useless gimmicks, and I suppose most people would buy the device that replaces monitor. 9:30 Not wanting to cater to a consumer base that can spend $3500+ on luxury tech doesn't make business sense to me. If I were Apple, definitely a great time to promote Apple TV+ and Apple Music to Vision Pro users. The VR/XR space is still small enough that Apple could become a major player and even lead it in only a couple product generations. The amount of interest from the VR crowd, I haven't seen since Oculus first started. And the interests from regular folks not usually into VR/XR has been surprising, they're getting ordinary folks interested in XR. Most probably can't afford it, but they're setting the ground works for that wide reach version. When Facebook bought Oculus in 2014, it was kind of exciting because the amount of money they could inject into it might create something amazing. Oculus under Meta has been boring the past 5 yrs.
Kind of like in 2001 Circuit City advertised a 42 inch plasma for $11,200. While a 55-inch Samsung can now be bought for $369 from Best Buy. Starting at $3500 hopefully we see it get down to mainstream adoption prices faster than a Plasma TV did.
The contrast between good the vision pro interface looks and how bad a widely visited website looks can't be ignored. The tech looks amazing but the WWW in general has hit such race to the bottom lows this can't be ignored. Apple's next quantum leap should to be a who new way of interfacing with the web.
Can you use it while driving, or is the AR not clear enough? I could see where it could make driving in the dark or fog could highlight things you could not normally notice.
Even if possible, that just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, you shouldn’t even text and drive wtf why would you want screens blocking your view
It supports remote play and steam link so it should allow streaming the games directly via WiFi. I’m really stoked for this feature. Someone’s gonna post it tomorrow
02:25 bs, the Quest can also do this and even with multiple desktops! and the best thing, you don't need an expensive mac and an iphone to use that headset! This completely feels like Android vs Apple 10 years ago. Apple offering great displays and build quality, futuristic software but still not the basic features like multiple desktops or a big library of VR games like the Quest offers, a RUclips app, no pcvr and so on...
Then why did you purchase a Varjo XR-3 headset for twice the cost? Oh, you didn't? Is it because that, too, is too expensive for what it is? The Apple Vision Pro isn't going against the Meta Quest 3 or Pro: it's going up against the Varjo XR-3 (and recently announced XR-4) for cheaper and a flat rate (The XR-3 has a yearly usage fee. The XR-4 will drop it; you can probably guess why).
Did you know while you are wearing that headset some random person can come close to you and use their hands to control your headset and it works (saw in a review video)
Quest 3 weighs less even with battery included. This obsession of Apple on metal and glass will kill them at this product (like it did in airpods max). Whats wrong with plastic?
13:00 Why is this revolutionary? Its a more powerful & refined Quest 3 that costs 7x more. Meta doesnt have the luxury of having the walled garden with millions taken hostage.
yea but they sure are busy building one, and they SUCK at running game company's after buying them and then FUCKING THEM UP like they did with literally the best VR gaming experience in Echo Arena... easily could have been the next Rocket League but in VR if they knew what they were doing.

Connect with your Mac, lol. I'm into computers for play and work, and I don't know anyone with a Mac that is a serious computer user for work or gaming. The Mac is just too expensive for a work laptop and too slow for gaming. I have had 3 VR headsets and currently have 2 that I use, the Apple Vision Pro is just too expensive, as much a gaming PC and considerable more than a high level VR head set.
Given how many famous products had humble beginnings (well... ALL of them), for a Netflix guy to call the market "subscale" is quite... idiotic, frankly. Someone who obviously never worked at a startup, that's for sure. I also don't understand why they didn't just give it a USB-C connection WITHOUT the battery. That way I could easily attach a higher-capacity battery without having to ALSO carry around the ORIGINAL battery. Hopefully a cable will come out that has the Vision Pro connector on 1 end and a regular USB-C male end on the other end. This is really reflective of the "control freak"-ness of Apple, here. I'm sure they didn't want to even risk someone buying a battery that couldn't deliver the wattage it required...
Their is something like the Apple Vision Pro it's called the Meta Quest 3 as it also does Mixed Reality and has a huge library of Mixed Reality games and Apps the only downgrade is the screen resolution and I can also use it with my Intel based Macbook Pro as it works as an amazing monitor but I can't use my Intel based Macbook Pro with the Vision Pro and other people other than the headset wearer can also controll the headset as I just watch a review and another people that was not wearing the headset was controllering it by pinching so that's $3500 for a device that someone else controller if I am using it around them 😂😂😂😂

Great guide and looking forward to future affordable generations
Great review. So thorough! Can't believe it's finally here 🤯
thanks so much. glad you liked it!
Great review
@@Jdb63 Quick google searches show you're wrong... OF COURSE it uses its depth sensor. Why wouldn't it? Makes no sense.
Does the display look better when wearing it? Can you see pixels?
Wasn’t sure at first but I appreciate the honest and open ended review.😅😅
Very cool to see how easy it makes multitasking 👏
what is the FOV and can you adjust the lenses please let me know :)
Apple has not published the FOV. Sorry. The lenses automatically adjust when putting on the headset. You long press the digital crown. You can also swap in Zeiss inserts if you have a prescription or need readers
Great review and perspectives.
Come on, Barely any downsides? feels like a paid Ad not a review.
The Verge did a much better and more realistic take on the Vision Pro.
This "review" is unfortunate...
It is encouraging to hear so many pros and almost any con in this video, it makes me feel it was worth it to sell my car to buy one of these :D
I dunno.. it all looks cool. but it seems that controllers are so much easier to work with. people just love to have the tactiel feedback.
Good, balanced review, without smug headlines. Thanks!!
Even worse than the Quest 2. It's laughable for such a crazy pricetag!
+ small FOV
+ Heavy weight
+ Extremely expensive
+ Not compatible with PCVR for obvious reasons
+ Chromatic aberration
These are just few of the issues. I expected better from Apple.
@@sephiroth4543 and you have to walk around with a powerbank! and despite that, the battery only holds for around 2 hours
Does Vision Pro work in a completely dark room, if so, can you still see your hands (like in a night vision goggles)?
I just checked. You get a warning that your hands may not be seen and you don't see them. But amazingly hand tracking still works and i can see the interface etc.
It has IR Illuminators that allow the cameras to see in the dark, although you can’t. Adding even more forward IR illuminators and a Night Vision Mode would be cool though.
Now this is the ultimate experience for watching content 😎🎥
Yes, a dedicated RUclips app would be nice (in the works?) but watching 3D movies in Apple TV is pretty amazing
@@TravellerInTheWholeWorld You simply recline on a comfortable chair or lie down on a couch or bed. You don't have to sit upright to watch a movie!
Awesome video!! 🔥🔥
how do you type in this gadget.
Virtual keyboard.
Or a Bluetooth keyboard.
With your eyes and pinching or typing with fingers
Or use your voice or keyboard
Would not mind a consumer friendly version with cheaper lighter materials ,the front glass removed and a lower price because the rest of the tech on the vision pro is super impressive
Haven’t found anyone able to answer this yet: Is there any possible way to connect USB to this?
Is the USB port on the battery purely for power? Has anyone actually tried connecting a USB accessory to it?
answer to that is theres only 1 usb hub on puck to connect it to a wall outlet for endless power
12:50. If there is no time table for when the new lower cost version is coming out, then it's not "on the horizon."
its on the horizon my dude, trust me.
Because it's just not practical at all.
Apple only did this because the glasses are without the battery already heavier then the Quest 2 and 3
I don't see how a tethered battery is that big of an issue, sure it's not "elegant" but the advantage is immense, it takes off some of the weight, and more importantly it increases device longevity, because battery often fails first and because it's not on device it can be easily replaced and it doesn't affect the value of the device, just because of this advantage alone of increased repairability i strongly welcome tethered batteries, i hope they'll become the norm, especially on something that costs 3500 dollars, imagine it losing so much of its value just because of the battery.
The battery in the Q3 only weights about 100g.
this is the future!! amazing!
I’ll wait for this to evolve into true AR glasses
Looks like an incredible device I have essentially no use for.
Looks like they forgot add the IBIS
Now give me this kind of headset that uses normal version of Windows or that connects with a PC and acts only as a AR device instead of a monitor. That's all I need for work and entertainment.
Thats what Quest Pro was EXACTLY supposed to be. They just utterly screwed the pooch on the marketing of the thing, as well as lot of compromises that lead to its ultimate failure.
@@WigganNuG Yeah. They try to market useless gimmicks, and I suppose most people would buy the device that replaces monitor. I want to use mouse and keyboard, don't need the movement controls, don't need pinching or anything. I want a big, wide virtual monitor for work and a virtual cinema screen for entertainment. Probably someone finally figures it out and makes this kind of device.
Oculus under Meta has been boring the past 5 yrs.
best review
You know who can't use the Apple Vision Pro? Scotty Kilmer. The unit would explode into a flaming ball of fire.
Kind of like in 2001 Circuit City advertised a 42 inch plasma for $11,200. While a 55-inch Samsung can now be bought for $369 from Best Buy.
Starting at $3500 hopefully we see it get down to mainstream adoption prices faster than a Plasma TV did.
us$3,500 might be expensive. But it is a similar price to a multi-monitor large display setup.
The contrast between good the vision pro interface looks and how bad a widely visited website looks can't be ignored. The tech looks amazing but the WWW in general has hit such race to the bottom lows this can't be ignored. Apple's next quantum leap should to be a who new way of interfacing with the web.
2:36 it's micro-OLED not micro-LED
Why not just buy AR Glasses ?
199$ for a case!?! .... Only Apple.😮
Whats 200 if you already spent 3500+ lol
Can you use it while driving, or is the AR not clear enough? I could see where it could make driving in the dark or fog could highlight things you could not normally notice.
Please don’t do that.
It uses regular cameras ... So its likely your eyes are better detectors ...
Even if possible, that just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, you shouldn’t even text and drive wtf why would you want screens blocking your view
I think it will not support multiple Mac displays because m2 does not. It's a shame I guess this thing might make me return mine
Sounds like a software thing though I’m sure it can be implemented
wow
Hey! thank you for the video)
Is it possible to use Apple Vision Pro with Playstation 5 or Windows? I mean just as a screen.
Probably not natively, no.
PS5 hell no. Windows Who knows.
I don't believe so. You can use a PS5 or Xbox controller with the Vision Pro for playing Apple Arcade games, as well as Steam games through Mac etc
It supports remote play and steam link so it should allow streaming the games directly via WiFi. I’m really stoked for this feature. Someone’s gonna post it tomorrow
Woah those pixels are mind blowing.... BTW the only video to show truly how vision pro looks so far...
Tom, any concern over head radiation?
02:25 bs, the Quest can also do this and even with multiple desktops! and the best thing, you don't need an expensive mac and an iphone to use that headset! This completely feels like Android vs Apple 10 years ago. Apple offering great displays and build quality, futuristic software but still not the basic features like multiple desktops or a big library of VR games like the Quest offers, a RUclips app, no pcvr and so on...
APPLE FAN BOY COMES ALL OVER HIS NEW TOY !!🤣🤣🤣 ( ITS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS )
Then why did you purchase a Varjo XR-3 headset for twice the cost?
Oh, you didn't? Is it because that, too, is too expensive for what it is?
The Apple Vision Pro isn't going against the Meta Quest 3 or Pro: it's going up against the Varjo XR-3 (and recently announced XR-4) for cheaper and a flat rate (The XR-3 has a yearly usage fee. The XR-4 will drop it; you can probably guess why).
(ITS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR YOU)
Fixed it!👌🏾
Did you know while you are wearing that headset some random person can come close to you and use their hands to control your headset and it works (saw in a review video)
No. And we still don’t know because you’ve provided no actual details or a source.
Quest 3 weighs less even with battery included. This obsession of Apple on metal and glass will kill them at this product (like it did in airpods max). Whats wrong with plastic?
I use the airpods max daily and yes they are heavier than my sonys but I dont notice it anymore(pretty quickly actually) and they are very comfortable
The apple effect will make sure this succeeds, many trust apple to give them a functional device
The displays are micro OLED, not micro LED, there is a difference.
I keep waiting for a review where someone pronounces Haleakala correctly… this isn’t the one…
The battery is not the only elephant in the room … 😂

MicroOLED Displays bro get it together
sports?
After watching this guy, it’s easy to see why MKBHD has so many followers.
MK is lazy. Not really a tech savvy. He just was lucky to be one of the first.
Um no, you don't get a 4k display, you get a 1440p Mac display rendered in a 4k VR space. Big difference bud
I get the impression it would be hard to keep it still. To keep a still screen in front of you.
You don't have to keep it still. The windows that hang suspended in the air remain still even when you move your head.
Their is something like the Apple Vision Pro it's called the Meta Quest 3 as it also does Mixed Reality and has a huge library of Mixed Reality games and Apps the only downgrade is the screen resolution and I can also use it with my Intel based Macbook Pro as it works as an amazing monitor but I can't use my Intel based Macbook Pro with the Vision Pro and other people other than the headset wearer can also controll the headset as I just watch a review and another people that was not wearing the headset was controllering it by pinching so that's $3500 for a device that someone else controller if I am using it around them 😂😂😂😂
Whats with all you morons comparing the Quest 3 to the AVP, and ya'll have never even tried the AVP and ya'll talk like you know something. smh.. dummies everywhere.

very true! this feels like android vs apple again back in 2012
You need to clean your laptop screen... :p
11:41 is that what she said? lol
Let me guess... the battery is an extra $3k :P
To make Vision Pro a popular device? Ok, apple should work hard to let GTA6 to land on Vision Pro and Mac! Trust me, GTA gamers will pay for immersive experiences regardless of costs!!!
