Ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy opened up about his gambling history which began with betting on golf matches and card games right after his hiring by the NBA. He didn't initially view himself as having a gambling problem, but eventually felt consumed by the urge to bet on any sport. Around 2003, Donaghy began betting on NBA games, using knowledge of refereeing scheduling and game spreads for betting insights. He emphasized that despite public perception, he never made unfair referee calls to sway games in his betting favor but used insider knowledge of the league and referees' strategies to anticipate outcomes. He compared this approach to insider trading, adding that while this gave him an advantage, his calls remained "correct."

@@joojoobawAny 1 on 1 sport, like you say (boxing, MMA, tennis etc) is the easiest, but once you get into team sports, it becomes more difficult with more people involved with the key players making too much money. I always thought if you want to corrupt a game, you have to get to a ref or a goalie

I used to bet on sports back in my day. He’s damn right about Vegas being on their shit. Time after time I’d be amazed at how accurate they were on a certain game point spread. Including the over/under.
they're really not- people just have selective memories. when there are 15 nfl games people will remember the 3-4 that hit almost dead on. they also basically have at least a 14 point window to have a game being close with the spread. if a team is favorite by 9 and they're up 3 or up 17 late the winner of the spread is still up in the air.

The NFL will make serious bank no matter who plays in the Superbowl. The NBA on the other hand, only have a few teams who are globally popular enough to make the NBA finals lucrative. The Lakers would have probably drew twice the ratings that the Kings would have in the finals. Ain't no way they were making it there.

As a person who has enjoyed sports my whole life whether spectating or participating it's infuriating to me to know that there were and still are referees who throw games and manipulate calls for whatever reasons internally or externally. I've watched the Detroit Lions for years shoot themselves in the foot in every which way possible but I've also seen multiple times where an absurd call by a referee cost my Lions a chance to win games that may have changed the destiny of the franchise and maybe even turn the tables of the league at the time, and to know that many of those calla may have been rigged is highly disturbing and upsetting and needs to be investigated in every sport
idk if u care but bro soccer/football be rigged the worst. especially in south america, it's well known that the mafia runs some of these leagues and don't even hide it half the time. it's blatant and nobody can stop it because it's an endless cycle of that happening. Possibly but the players still have to be talented and make shots. But it seems easy to rig a game. Call a couple fouls on whoever is guarding Steph for example. Or call travels on the best player on the opposing team. That can swing the game 10-20 points easy.

The NBA is a business, they want certain teams in the finals. Just like last year, they wasn't happy with the finals being Denver against miami. So this year in return, especially with it being LeBron's last year to win a championship. They are going to give the Lakers and LeBron a championship as a going away present. Everybody knows he's more than likely going to play with his son next year. which probably will be a sorry team, which is highly unlikely that LeBron will take them to the finals and win. So this is the last year really for him to get a championship, and the NBA is going to help him with that and it will be their gift to him mark my words!
