  • A steel rod is magnetized by swiping it along a permanent magnet. Its field is viewed by placing it under a piece of paper and sprinkling iron filings on it. This shows that it has two poles, one on each end. The rod is then cut in half and the field is viewed again. What is seen?

I just want to say thank you so much. I watched these videos as a child and I never would be so involved with science and experimentation if it wasn’t for videos. The strange tickle I feel in my brain was inspired by seeing videos like this 14 years ago in middle school. I’m glad to see the same intro being used, it’s incredibly nostalgic. Cold cuts no baloney, just science!

Good job making these videos. It's really beneficial, and appreciated. Thank you.

I'm still wondering if these are from 10 years ago or if you two are just so darn good looking...

What about if you connect the north pole of one magnet to the south pole of the other and do it again? Will there be two distinct fields and will the fields overlap each other or will it look as if it were just one magnet?

I was going for *E. A black hole forms and devours the Solar system.*
    Thankfully, I was wrong!
