The way Earl Carroll looks at Otis and points to the crowd at the end of the song is the epitome of cool, and the way the Cadillacs are holding their mics at the end gives me the chills. So classic 50's rock n roll!

I graduated college in the late 1980’s. I started working as a teacher in the New York City board of education. It was around this time that there was a story in the local news that Earl Carroll was working as a custodian in a local school. The story was kind of stupid. He was shown mopping the floors while singing “Speedo” and emptying waste. And at the end he is followed around by some kids while he sings “Speedo “. I believe that he has since passed.

If there was one thing that The Cadillacs had in common with The Monotones, Penguins, Flamingos, Silhouettes, was that many of them were One Hit Wonders. When Otis Williams got an Autograph from one of the guys a Girl asked one of them why he had a Pimple on his Face and he screamed "Cuz I Ain't Getting Enough Female Action!" A Personal Question but he said it in a much nastier way and the poor girl was so upset. Otis made a promise that if he ever became famous he'd never treat anyone like that especially a lady. Smart guy. Hard to believe overall it's 60 years for them, The Beach Boys, Beatles and Rolling Stones. In England & Australia they are still revered.

This has been the big debate since the Temptations movie came out. The group in the opening part of the movie isn't the Cadillacs. The group doing the cover on stage is called the Cadillicas, who is doing the Cadillacs song, Speedo. They do a great job in their own style, but of course, the original Cadillacs did not do the jumps and splits that this group does in the movie. I, along with many, consider the Cadillacs to be the godfathers of doo wop and rock and roll. It's sad that Earl and Bobby are gone. But they will never be forgotten.

They were certainly not the godfathers of doowop and especially rock n roll. It's well known that the ink spots and the Robin's were the creators of what came known as doowop.

They were smooth cuz the same Dude who taught the Temptations actually Taught the Cadillacs first 10 years earlier !!! Cholly Atkins

My mom grew up in this era and she remembers seeing Jackie WIlson in concert when she was a teen. I showed her some tapes of Jackie on Shindig, and he was smooth as ice.....but she also said he held back on TV compared to what he was like live and in concert. The censors and all. So I imagine tapes of the Cadillacs really doing their thing dont exist

What's funny is that in this movie and the Jackson's movie, all the performances are exaggerated and are BETTER than the real artists ever did it.
The Cadillacs moved nothing like these guys. Even the Tempts and the Jacksons in the movies were betta than the real performers

    • @StardustSJ_

You are lying about the Jacksons! The actors DO NOT perform better than the real people (J5) in that movie. The actors did well but no ma'am or sir they did not out do the Jackson 5 or The Jacksons. Take a look at their performances from Motown 25 and their Victory Tour and see if you still think the actors did better than them. You seriously think the actors that played MJ danced and sang better than MJ!?! Smh
