I have a 7 year old that I babysit that also has such a hard time staying focused on school. He comes up with every excuse as to why he can’t do the work and spends a third of the time complaining instead of actually doing the work and it is soooooo testing on my patience. I get really frustrated but try not to show it because then he’ll get riled up and it turns into an actual nightmare. Thanks for always keeping it real!

I feel your pain. This home schooling lockdown is an absolute nightmare for me too. I have 2 daughters, one aged 8 and one aged 4 and trying to split myself in 2 to be able to teach them different things constantly is so stressful. I'm a stay at home Dad but I never signed up for having to do this. The schools have absolutely bombarded me with what they expect the kids to finish in a day, I've got one learning to read and other is learning about expanded nouns and computer work. I've also got my fair share of mental health problems and can see the stress from all this being a massive trigger. I've already had 2 sleepless nights because I'm stressing over not getting their work done on time. I feel like a complete failure as a Father because I hear other parents who are coping so well so thank you for sharing this. You're not alone and if you ever need to talk to someone who is completely out of your loop, in a similar situation and will listen, feel free to message me and we'll sort something out. Take care, you're doing an amazing job, stay safe and remember you're a legend.

Please get a Roomba! It will give you back so much time!
And teaching tip: try using a timer and set amounts. For example: 5mins for you to go over the paper with him, then 15 for him trying by himself (tell him to skip anything that is too tough and come back to it later), followed by 5 more with you and back to independent, etc. If you get one of those kitchen timers that he can set himself, it may help because he'll think it's fun and you won't have to worry about remembering. Also, maybe the independent time can be in a space where he can be by himself. Maybe even a standing desk with a wobble board to stand on. It could be silent or with background music.
Sometimes it also helps to do unexpected things. Like with that worksheet, you could even just post it on a wall somewhere in the house. Have him find it and then complete it without moving the paper from the wall or wherever.
    Worth a try? 🤷🏼‍♀️❤️🍁

Oh Jen! You are just so awesomely patient and so inspiring too! I never could be so patient rather i would think over the "spare the stick and spoil the child" but no, you taught and showed us it could be done better! Don't worry all will end soon for good 👍 and the craft work is 🌟

Oh sweet mama...few tips: create a routine...let’s get dressed, create a space for school with no toys around...make it fun...start with a song, prayer, maybe take it to the porch...do it bite size pieces...homeschooling is sooo much easier than virtual learning...you can create your day how YOU want to...seep breath YOU GOT THIS

Hi Jennifer your amazing mom. Your doing a wonderful job. I've got a soon to be three year old and soon to be one year old. And we're on lockdown as well. By the time my first born is ready for preschool I'll be doing it at home. So I'm bracing for my fair share as well.
Best of luck to you, hubby and the kids.

That looked really stressful and difficult! 😢 when he finally actual gets on with it and finishes it, do you tell him something like 'mummy loves it when you do the work properly and get it done like that' and 'if you did it like that in the beginning, without messing around, you'd have finished all your work by about 1.30 or 2 and have extra time to chill out or have fun' ? I feel for you 🤗 xx

I have a six year old and 8 year old and homeschooling is a nightmare 5 subjects each daily and both of them need my undivided attention or they get distracted and work so slow we finish by the evening (with breaks inbetween) then no where to go after because lockdown and same thing every day I feel sorry for them really hhhhhh it’s so difficult right now. I worry they will fall behind on education so I try to get all the work done but at the end of it I’m so stressed!.

Love these real vlogs. I am laughing cause I feel like I'm watching myself. my youngest is same age as Olivia and she has stopped napping so I'm taking them walking at 3ish to keep her awake and then we do songs before t. I miss the naps but she really doesn't need them anymore. I hate the transition stage. And it's awful no naps when homeschooling 2 other kids. 🥴🙈🤣 I feel your stress it's not easy xx

Keep going and good luck with your homeschooling. If you please let me know what is the type of printer you have as I am looking forward to buying one.
