1. I think the failure of classic Mercedes-Benz engines (rockerarms) have increased because of lack of zink in oil.... 2. Alcohol in gas producing A. More acidity in oil B. Water byproduct in oil C. More gas in the oil mixture 3. People don't drive the cars long enough and get it hot enough to disspate the water and gas from oil Just my opinion
I've just replaced all my rocker arms on my 450SE 4.5, as two of the rocker arms were badly worn, causing camshaft wear. I needed to regrind and harden camshafts, but while I was in there I also replaced both sprockets (as they were both showing signs of wear), all shims, oilers tubes and sprayers. I had the chain replaced about 4 years ago by another shop, and I'm guessing they should have inspected rocker arms and sprockets while in there. None of this work was cheap, especially as I live in Australia, so all parts had to be imported from the US. The end result is my M117 is again smooth as butter, ready to be enjoyed
Wondering what you recommend regarding valve adjustments on the m117 (560 SEL)? Mercedes apparently changed something with their valves so the SIR tools device is calibrated to the old measurements while the Mercedes tool is NLA.

Hi Pierre, have you seen the mention of your channel by Jerry Seinfeld on the Spike’s car radio podcast?
You look like a villain from a futuristic Stallone movie.

Can you still get rockers for these things? I'm considering a 116 but not keen on the idea of NLA critical engine parts.
