    • @doktorhypebeast
      @doktorhypebeast 5 месяцев назад +63

      @@Lellena94 You're missing the point. He's saying how a lot of the lyrics of past songs by Kendrick still holds up even after the context of the rap beef, and ages like fine wine. Where as Jcole's songs are aging like milk (Jcole has rapped in the past 2-3 years about being the torchbearer for rap and ahead of everyone else) as does Drake's songs (Drake literally rapped "Highschool pics you was even bad then" in Nice For What.... I don't need to explain that 💀)

      @TJ_JTG 4 месяца назад +8

      @@doktorhypebeast J Cole's apology doesn't invalidate any of his lyrics tho, because he made it painfully clear that he DIDN'T back out out of fear or lack of rapping ability. He made the mature decision that a TORCHBEARER and IDOL would do, rather than just dropping a song that his heart wasn't in.
      His decision illustrated not giving into peer pressure to keep up an image, and remaining sincere and geniune.
      Drake on the other hand you're absolutely right.

      I think Kendrick is talking about the desire to "made it" that we all have, having money and everything, therefore "Money trees is the perfect place for shade And that's just how I feel". So i think we can see yourself in his place.
      Also, this one part that speaks directly with me , "It go Halle Berry or Hallelujah, Pick your poison, tell me what you doin'" if you do good or bad you will be judged and face hardship anyway, but choosing the good will always more worth because "The one in front of the gun, forever".

    Anyone who grew up poor can relate to this. That struggle of day to day life. Those days where an extra $20 feels like you hit the lotto. The days where those cheap times with your friends were the only escape from the worry of what you’re gonna eat tomorrow (if you will at all). The days of feeling embarrassed or ashamed because you don’t have half of what other people do. Your shirts are old and stained and your shoes are worn out and dirty. But through it all you find those tiny, little, almost missable moments where there’s peace. And you find hope for the next day. As a white kid who grew up without shit this song just proves that poverty doesn’t have a color. Black, White, Hispanic, Asian ect. We’re all just people struggling but who know one thing… WE GON BE ALRIGHT. Thank you Kendrick for this song. You’ve helped many people see beyond the next phone, water, or electric bill due and to the brighter tomorrow we can’t often focus on. Much love all of you. We’re hanging on together. 🖤🖤🖤

    I was only 7-8 years old when I heard this masterpiece. I am now 15!! My mom always bumped this in her car and this song has reminded me of those days ever since✨ I also noticed how Kendrick states “everybody’s gon respect the shooter, but the one in front of the gun lives forever” when I was 7-8 listening to that line, I never knew what the hell it meant, but once I revisited this song I FULLY UNDERSTOOD💯👍🏾
    This song is amazing man🤦🏾‍♂️💯
    It’s 2020, but I’ll bump this FOREVER!!
