      Short term the team is definitely better on paper going into the season than a year ago which is exciting.

    With these signings and some of the young bucks coming out of Coachella and a brand new coach, I'm very excited for the new season. Now can we also get our 3rd jerseys and the Fanatics practice jerseys please 😊

      I'm also excited for them to put out a third jersey, I hope it happens this season but I think it's more likely next season since Fanatics wanted minimal changes the first year of taking over.

    I promise you that Stephenson is the biggest sleeper pick up of this free agent class. His hockey IQ, speed, and passing are elite. He was the 1C on our team for some deep playoff runs and our 2C for the cup run. He's immediately the best center on your team and probably will be for at least 2 years.

      Yeah there is no doubting he makes the team better it's just the term isn't great and it seems like an experience contract.

      They were thinking they want to make the playoffs this year and they'll figure out the rest later. They did make the team a lot better for this season.

      @CheapSeatsSports So short sighted though. Francis knows the team have to make playoffs this season to save his job so he's over paid on two players who probably will make the team better short term to make playoffs thus saving his job. But what about 4/5 years down the line when we are stuck with these contracts on 35 year olds crippling our market cap. Short term fix to save Ron's job...put himself first before long term best options for team.

    We now have two very good offensive leaning D’s which is a fantastic place to be. Ryker will be insurance and give him time to grow.

    Here's my thoughts after the video. What i think the signing of Stephenson means for Wright and Beniers. I think this will put Beniers on a wing making him focus more on the scoring. Wright can still move up as the #2 Centerman leaving Gourde at 3. Then letting IDK Kartye be the Center for the 4th line. He did that a little bit at the end of the year last year and i thought was pretty decent at it. But either Wright or Beniers will be moved to wing. That's my guess here.

    • @Juan-il3mo
      @Juan-il3mo 5 месяцев назад +2

      Don’t think so. Beniers is a center through and through, and could be the next Bergeron (not as good but u get me) Wright is also a center through and through. My guess is more to make it easier for them, and have Stephenson as a kinda mentor for them I think. So Wright will be 3rd/4th center, Beniers #2/1 and Stephenson #1/2. So this years centers will be Stephenson- Beniers-Wright-Gourde, that’s my guess at least, just to protect the kids and take pressure of them so that they can develop and perform properly.

      @frankcastle10 5 месяцев назад

      @@Juan-il3mo Wright in the 4th is a crime, and all the staff should be fired if that happens, he should get good minutes in the 2nd/3rd line Gourde needs to be the 4C and make a 4th line that grinds with him and Kartye. Chandler should be 1 probably and Beniers 2C so he gets less pressure. But im ok between Beniers, Chandler, Wright changing lines, but for god sake just play the young guys the right minutes to develop

    Montour was an ok signing that will almost certainly hurt in 3 years. Stephenson was the worst signing of the offseason. We may be wanting to get rid of him by midseason.

  • @robertwest4596

    The bigger concern past these 2 terrible moves is that Jamie Oleksiak is still on the roster. If they don't drop this slow, horrible defensemen then I probably won't be watching many games this year. He's HORRIBLE.

  • @robertwest4596
    @robertwest4596 5 месяцев назад +4

    These were 2 crappy moves in my mind. Not impressed. 7 years for Stephenson?? What a joke.

    • @CheapSeatsSports
      @CheapSeatsSports  5 месяцев назад

      They are definitely moves made for the next year or two and then fox the fallout later. The Montour move I really like. It won't age well but that's just what you need to do to get a top FA.

  • @Skeezle1986
    @Skeezle1986 5 месяцев назад +1

    (commented before i watched the video)I LOVE THOSE MOVES. About time Francis rattles some cages. We need a Centerman that can actually win faceoffs so what happens he goes and gets Vegas best centerman. And then goes and gets Floridas TOP scoring defenseman. So now we can have Dunn run the other powerplay. Evans can learn the NHL at a steady pace instead of being thrown to the wolves. And Beniers can actually be a winger which means HIGHER POINT PRODUCTION EXCELLENT

    • @CheapSeatsSports
      @CheapSeatsSports  5 месяцев назад +1

      I think Beniers will still be at center but he'll have less pressure on him.
