Hello Lori, I agree that this van would be great for a solo traveler especially if you did not have to assemble / disassemble the bed.. Thanks for watching!
This is one of my favorite smaller class-B RVs. It’s nicely appointed, for the prices. Solar is a definite plus. RB is again, always a favorite. I do like that the toilet is cassette, so no worries for a dump station. I’ve considered this as a starter, to see if I really will like a class-B as much as I think. Could always trade up to a tranquility or serenity. Ruby, I love how you take your time, going through the options. Your videos are paced so well, it makes it a pleasure to watch. My favorite reviewer is you. Have a great week, looking forward to the next amazing review.
Nice design and layout. That bed would work for a single person, even without sliding it out. One could just move the backrests and lay down comfortably.
Hello, the layout of this RV makes it very roomy for such a compact sized van. Many solo travelers do like that they can just remove the backrests on the sofa and not have to make the whole bed. Thank you so much for watching!
@@Adventure-Mom Ruby, do you have a idea to make it better? And if so what would it be? I would like to see a couch where you grab the back rest and pull it over and down in front. I had a couch like in my travel trailer.
Thanks for sharing. This is nice compact/short class B layout. Good size wet-bath, good size kitchen. But the bed OMG.... you're playing tetris with the bed. Total of 6 pillows need to be adjusted (and removing 2 wedge shaped pillows & 1 cup holders pillow) to make the bed. Thor should redesign this. It seems like the European RV makers design a better layout (Hymer Free 540, AutoTrail V-LINE 540 SE, CARADO CV 540) which based on 540cm Fiat Ducato chassis (which is almost identical with Ram Promaster 1500). Nice presentation, Ruby👍
Ruby you Rock !! Another fantastic review, I really like how you explain each feature and demonstrate. You have a nice calm approach explaining in the reviews ( unlike some other reviewers who are loud and shout ) LOL You do a great job. I think it would be a great idea to get a close up of the spec sheet with the price on each unit. Have a great weekend !
Hello Richard, Thank you for the feedback. Not all dealerships supply the specs sheets, but when they do, I try to get a pic into the video. Thank you so much for watching my videos!
More windows that open would be nice. I believe there’s an aftermarket screened vent that rests between a partially-opened window and the door frame on the driver and passenger front doors for extra ventilation. Nice overview. Thanks for posting.
I’ve never seen anyone turn the front seats I would be interested to see if that’s an easy thing to do also I think it would be nice to show the sofa being set up as a single daybed /night bed without width extension To show it’s easy to get to the bathroom at night and I think you forgot to show the awning nice video though thank you
Hello Eileen, There is a lever to push down to allow the seat to swivel so it is relatively easy and if you leave the couch as a single bed there is plenty of room to walk to the bathroom. Thanks for Watching!
Glad to see not much has changed from the 2022. Picked mine up yesterday (2022 build on 2022 ProMaster) & saw my dealer has 2023’s “arriving soon”. I was a little worried they might make some major change - like to the sofa/bed, a better side door screen, or the overall layout - but it seems they’ve just moved the Truma control & added the ability to connect additional ground-mount solar panels. Thanks for the walkthrough!
I like that they have added the external solar panel socket. Then the van can be parked in the shade to keep it cool, and the external (folding) solar panels can be placed in the sun. The charge controller would need to be able to handle the external solar, which might be an upgrade as well. I note that the Thor site specifications do not mention this external solar plug. Is this a standard feature? Or an add-on? Is the Thor site just out of date?
Bought one last July 2022. Had it for 9 months, been in shop for 3 months. Leaks, upholstery issues, window issues, screen issues, generator issues, poor craftsmanship. On the bright side, the Ram platform is great
That's a lot of content packed into an 18ft van. Think it trumps the Solis Pocket with features and compromises storage but Thor has a model (18T) that fills that role. The 18M sells it for me with the rear bath vs. a porta potty and no hot water in the Pocket. At a little under 6 foot tall I would need to see if I could use that couch as a single bed without my feet/ankles dangling over the end. Perhaps the driver seat swivels far enough to extend the length. Overall this thing could be a boondocking monster for a solo camper or REALLY close couple. The generator/inverter is a game changer here in the 1500 chassis. Add a second small 12v fridge freezer for frozen goods, small convection toaster oven, small instant pot or rice cooker and you are good to go! Would probably swap out the AGM's for Battle-borns. My dumb ass would probably also have to bring a small gas grill as well. The challenge would be where to put all that stuff while travelling, once camped most of it would be outside. For dedicated camping a hitch mounted storage box would work but a pain in the ass if you are trying to be stealthy. The real limiting factor would be water. May need to rethink that 18T floor plan and warm up to the porta-potty issue. It has the generator and much more storage for all the crap previously mentioned, but it's a tough choice losing a working bathroom.
I do carry a small instant pot with me on my travels that fits in the overhead cabinet as well as a very compact portable grill (see my description). I do like the 18M as the rear bath is a great size. They do need to re-design the bed system, but overall I do like the layout. Thanks for watching!
Hello Thais, I agree this is a great layout and the interior feels spacious considering its overall size but Thor could have made the bed a little easier to use. Thanks for Watching!
Hello Daphney thanks for the compliment. I agree that Thor needs to come up with a better design for the bed. Thank you so much for watching my videos!
Yessss...A small slide-out would be nice....for the bed... kinda like the tear drop Nu- camp 320s.. and A chance to exchange...... the old bed ..... to the new...bed design... that would be GREAT!!!👍🤗 I would pay a fee ..to ..get a better night sleep ..I hope Thor is watching 👍😁 Thank you for this video!!! 😊
This is perfect for a single live aboard, as in a travelling nurse. Just remove the back cushions and go to sleep! Obviously I would pay a pretty penny for some custom covers for them cushions. The price is right too, think how much a custom job like this would cost, even if this is not a perfect live aboard or the extended version of this van.
My honest opinion is that this RV has a nice layout that would make a great camper for a couple. Thor has improved their quality somewhat but unfortunately not enough to compete with most other RV manufacturers ... but then again you are paying much less for a Thor product. My opinion is that you need to be prepared to fix minor issues yourself as waiting for any dealership to repair will take a very long time. Thanks for Watching!
Thanks to you I purchased this rv Saturday. The only thing I got to say about this 2023 that you’re showing is it’s on a 2021 chassis. Two ways to tell is this has a 7” screen display and it should be a 10” and the for sure way is to look at the vin number and the tenth letter should be an N or a P. I love your walk through videos. I think the real changes for the 2023 on the 2022 chassis have to do with Ram chassis safely features such as lane assist, blind spot monitoring etc
