She’s powerful, mighty, tough as fuck, a warrior; look at the cover of her record, her pose is one of being ready to tackle anything that comes her way, ready to fight for love and love. And she can also manage to show her softest, weakest, tenderest side… She’s unique.
I could be wrong....but all of this makes me think of watching a long term relationship fall apart. Over time. Promising to do better next time, to make extra sacrifices, to come up with excuses "I grew up in the wrong places" the French Countryside here to me means that blissful open field of a new love, and in this song is just slightly out of reach, yet familiar to the protagonist of the song and the intended receiver. This is a deeply personal song about remembering the best times in a relationship after a breakup and wanting to revisit all those times. The French countryside is just a metaphor for a place she'll never be, just like that plateau of new love is something that can never be reached again. It's a desire to hold on to something that once was while finally being pushed against the wall to move forward. I could be wrong! That's just me. What a song. What a video.
Favourite song in the album. I definitely see a different approach to the song with the video. It reminds me of the first relationship you got into. It's whimsical, lovely and you'd do anything. But it's childish and you know it won't last or something will come up. The innocence of wanting someone, but also how delusional that is.
This video gives an entire different meaning to the song. Until now, i thought that the lyrics were honest, you know, from the heart, but now i'm starting to think that they were just a form of manipulation. Telling someone what they want to hear and not what is true.
There is certainly more desperation, but what that means is ambiguous still I feel...I feel it's less manipulation per say, but commitment and desire to take these actions, to be dedicated in that pursuit. But the mannerisms and expressions from Jehnny are definitely mischievous and makes you suspect something too.
@@mikeneaves9754 exactly! Her movements seem so staged and exaggerated that it really makes you wonder, is this person being genuine with what they are saying, or just saying it to keep the other person in their life.
I've always liked Jenny but I've never sat and just listened to this song before. I've heard it before but never listened.
Haunting to say the least 😢

This sounds a lot like Radiohead
