- I was extremely lucky to get a chance to fly formation with Edan and his Gamebird GB1.
Social media gets a bad reputation these days, but I owe so much of the cool stuff I get to do, to social media. Today is a prime example of that. Through instagram I was able to meet Edan, we’ve talked for a few years, and now we are flying formation out of my home airport. Something that never would have happened without social media.
This channel is so underrated it’s hard to comprehend!! The video quality, the storytelling, the skills…
Keeping my circle small.
You did it. A GoPro worthy video, it looked like something they would put out. Good show !
Thanks dude. It was a blast to film. I honestly had so much more footage but I wanted to keep it short
RIP, Edan. You are sorely missed by many. Fly high
You're having too much fun man! The visibility of monowings is a huge plus for formation compared to the Pitts!
It’s honestly so much easier with all the extra power. It feels like cheating
@@alexandercoats my S1 is a beast though. 816lbs empty and with 230hp, I can probably out accelerate my buddy's Extra. 😎 Extra and Pitts isn't exactly the best match for formation, but we make it work and have a great time!
Awesome!! My favorite shot was the trail formation loop with his smoke reflection on your visor. Pretty sick shot. Great edit and excellent footage as always.
Thanks Casey! I was super lucky Edan flew down to get some flying in.
Beautiful little film, Alex. And your akro formation skills do show. What an beautiful machine that GB1 is.
Thank you! The GB1 is an amazing machine! Edan flys it incredibly well
Man Gamebirds are the sexiest looking aerobatic planes in my opinion. I remember when Steinbach designed the Sbach I thought that was the shizz nit, then this. Wow. Outstanding flying by both of you. Really enjoyed that, and a great display of the thing that keeps pilots alive from you both...humility. I read that Sean D. Tucker was going to be leading a formation team of Gamebirds maybe two years ago or so. Any idea why that never happened?
Unfortunately Covid happened and sponsors pulled out. The planes are sadly being sold, I flew 3 out of the 4 planes and they are great. Two of them may still be available as of today.
@@gamebirdwest Ahh okay. I hate that, would have loved to see it happen. Thanks for the info.
Cool video, that looked like so much fun. I fly out of VBT where the Game Composites factory is. It’s great watching them return and do a screaming midfield break to a big slip landing.
That’s such a cool airport! I was there for work and was able to get a tour of the facility, it was incredible. I’m a huge fan. Maybe some day I’ll be able to afford one.
I know very little about aerobatic flying. It would be interesting to hear how you think the Game Bird fits amongst the other planes in that category.@@alexandercoats
New morning coffee ritual to watch these videos
Haha thanks dude! I’m trying to keep them coming.
Another banger film. Clearly living your best life. Congrats
Thanks dude, it’s been an absolute blast getting to fly every day, hopefully more cool opportunities with Edan pop up again
Awesome video again man I wish we’d have hung out when you came this way to tour the factory. I live like forty five minutes from it!
We will get to hang out more at Oshkosh, maybe someday you’ll end up out in California and we can fly together.
Damn that looks like fun!!
It was a blast Bernie. Making these videos keeps opening up doors.
Man guys that’s so awesome!!! Love the channel!!!
Thanks dude! I’ve been having a blast filming everything
Wish I lived closer, I fly big rc planes, love the edge, I have a smaller one than you, but would love to watch you fly in person!!!!
I was supposed to be importing the first ever one to Australia. Deposit paid, design finalised and even the harnesses had already arrived but I had to puill out of it a week before they started building because the Australian dollar crashed so hard, it would have totalled me over $1 million AUD to get it here. Serial number 86 and that serial number was delivered today. I'm going to be salty for a long time. Getting an extra 300 now instead but I'll never forget how close I was to owning the first and only GB1 in Australia... Gutted
That had to be heartbreaking. I just saw them post the photos of it flying on their Instagram. I’m so sorry Chris.
Wow awesome video
Thanks Dude! It was a blast to film
Oh man. Freaking awesome!!
It was a blast to get to fly with him!
Hell yeah :)
It was such an awesome day of flying.
Awesome
Thanks dude!
I took 4 lessons from Edan who pilots this GB1. However he is based in Van Nuys which is 2 hour drive for me. I now have my own Extra I am looking for some aerobatic instructions in the SoCal area. Do you know any instructors?
Where are you based in SoCal?
@@alexandercoats Corona but I can travel to nearby airports like F70.
@@alexandercoats what is your email
If that’s Edan Shalev…please say hello! From Tony Bill
Tony! Wow Long time, Hi! Remember flying with you in your Swift to french valley and all the fun times in the Pitts. Hope you are well, can try sending me a direct message.
It is! And it looks like he already saw the comment!
RIP Edan, very big loss.
Tough loss for sure
Yes, but you also meet people on the other side of the country and my fuel tank only holds 24 gallons 😂
Haha very true!
That’s what Oshkosh is for
L I V I N G
Exactly!
This airplane just crashed over the Palisades Wyoming reservoir killing the pilot. It has the same tail number as the plane that crashed.
Unfortunately yes
