Kimberly Davis interpreta la canción irlandesa Kathleen Mavourneen. Letra por Annie Barry Crawford; Música por Frederick W. Nicollis Crouch
Lyrics/Letra:
Kathleen Mavourneen, the grey dawn is breaking.
The horn of the hunter is heard on the hill.
The lark from her light wing the bright dew is shaking.
Kathleen Mavourneen, what slumb'ring still?
Oh, hast thou forgotten how soon we must sever?
Oh, hast thou forgotten this day we must part?
It may be for years, and it may be forever.
Then why art thou silent, thou, voice of my heart?
It may be for years, and it may be forever.
Then why art thou silent, Kathleen Mavourneen?
Kathleen Mavourneen, awake from thy slumbers!
The blue mountains flow in the sun's golden light.
Ah, where is the spell that once hung on my numbers?
Arise in thy beauty, thou, star of my night!
Mavourneen, Mavourneen, my sad tears are falling.
To think, that from Erin and thee I must part!
It may be for years, and it may be forever.
Then why art thou silent, thou, voice of my heart?
It may be for years, and it may be forever.
Then why art thou silent, Kathleen Mavourneen?

Many thanks! I'm currently arranging this melody for intermediate cellist soloist and string orchestra, and your performance certainly helps to get it "in my head"....
This is awesome
"Last time I saw Win, we played that, round the piano. We went over there for the last dinner together, night before we all broke up. Spring of sixty-one.'
'Mira Hancock had us over. One more evening together. You remember Mira. Beautiful couple, you know that? Most beautiful couple I ever saw. He sure looks like a soldier now, and that's a fact.'
' Lot of fellas from the old outfit. We were leaving the next day. Some goin' North Some going South. Splitting up. God! You remember.'
'We sat around the piano, toward the end of the evening. You know how it was. Mary was playing. We sang all the good songs. That was one of them, 'Kathleen Mavourneen,' and there was 'Mary if Argyle,' and . . . Ah. It may be for years, and it may be forever. Never forget that.'
'Well, the man was a brother to me. You remember. Toward the end of the evening . . . It got rough. We all began, well, you know, there were a lot of tears.'
'Well I was crying, and I went up to Win and I took him by the shoulder and said, 'Win, so help me, if I ever lift my hand against you, may God strike me dead.'"
Kathleen Mavourneen will always remind me of that beautiful tragic monologue. The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara. Ever American needs to read it.
Hearing that in the move is what really says how horrible war is. The fighting always shows these brave men not afraid of death but a glimpse into their personal life is so sad!
Such beautiful playing...
Beautiful!
Thank you. A beautiful rendition of a favorite of mine.
