@@gohanmoreno7 that was by disassembling and reassembling. Basically he had the instructions for what his quirk would do to his arms before he touched them. But he still needed his hands to activate it. And now that he has no hands...
@@gohanmoreno7 Yes but he has to touch the thing to activate his quirk in that case he touch his own palms in other words his body in order to change it.
15:35 some thought his despair come from Shigaraki ripping his dream away but it was more because Overhaul realized now he won't ever be able to heal his pops and undo what he did to him. Shigaraki with the ultimate mind f**k
ironically, Shigaraki didn't even know about Pops. His glee would be through the roof if he knew how bad he'd actually fucked Overhaul there, but he didn't even know. There's not one person who knows the truth about the boss's condition. Overhaul alone understands that losing his quirk means he's lost his ability to undo what he did.
And his personality now also makes perfect sense. Why bother with thoughts of regret and anguish when you can just undo any damage done at the drop of a hat. Why even consider the consequences, to him there are no consequences for his actions. It’s not until he is suddenly confronted with the loss of that power that he realizes the horror of what he’s done.
I can't be the only one who sees the tragic, poetic irony of Nighteye's death. The jaded man who could see forward died content and hopeful after saving the little girl who could turn things back. Truly beautiful storytelling. 🥲
One minor detail I really appreciate in this episode: Uravity grabbing Overhaul. She's the one to do it and she deliberately grabs his wrists, knowing how to deal with a villain who's got dangerous hand based powers. And that's because she's been thinking and training on how to deal with Shigaraki.
Apparently during the League of Villains car chase in the manga, Spinner states that he learned to drive from Grand Theft Auto. WHY WOULD THEY CUT THIS?! 🤣🤣🤣
There’s a lot of references they need to cut due to not having the rights. Spider-Man and Batman both have their silhouette in the first chapters of the manga, but not the anime.
@@HaydrogenBomb I’m not sure but it’s a reoccurring thing that mangas/comics have much more leeway than tv shows. Like how The God of High School webcomic literally had characters dressed up as One Piece characters but the anime didn’t show that.
15:24 is one of my fave Shigaraki moments. Really showing him coming into his own as a villain leader. Exacting a poetic revenge, stealing resources from the Yakuza while letting the heroes do the work. He disarms Overhaul and gloats in his face 👌🏾
I know I absolutely LOVE Shigaraki and I didn’t even realize how much until this scene. I rewound the “now you don’t even have a thumb to suck on” moment over and over again because it made me laugh out loud, I was so caught off guard
As much as Overhaul deserved to lose his quirk, the fact that it meant the one person he cared about is now permanently in a coma and he has to go on knowing it was his fault kinda made me feel sorry for him
Montana is in for a big surprise with Shigaraki, lmao. I feel like she, for some reason, doesn't see yet that his character journey (right now) is all about becoming a good leader and villain. The whole scene with him showing his face to the League and trusing the Temp Squad was to show that while he has less experience than Overhaul, at the core he's a better leader who values and trusts his teammates.
i think she views him just as " a villian to be defeated like ALL the others " and not as an individual character with an arc and a journey yet. thus, she doesn't really care/wants to care about him
@@satiramalek2572Sure, but that kind of attitude towards characters still can coexist with understanding simple things about them and about how stories work. Again, I'm just confused that she made that conclusion after the scene with the Temp Squad. That entire moment basically exists to scream in our faces that Shigaraki is bonding with the League and is making good leadership decisions (hints of which were already shown at the start of the season when Shigaraki told the League not to attack Overhaul and realised that he doesn't get to retry things now that AFO is gone). And about Shigaraki being just a villain and not an individual character... Shigaraki is clearly being set up as Deku's personal antagonist with episodes being named after the two, their encounter at the mall, their 'OFAFO Successors' parallel, and the fact that even in this arc both of them 'fight' against the same villain. Soooo, the story is _already_ putting him into a special individual spotlight. But maybe if she doesn't really care, then she doesn't remember any of that, including the Temp Squad scene.
@grinstrashcan i think so ... like she sees a cool scene of the villains, gives her opinion on it, then her brain goes " but at the end of it they're JUST villains so who cares " and moves on the only one i THINK is currently out of this routine is twice , which is better than nothing ig all of which is why I'm really intrigued to see her reaction to the mva because there , she WILL care , she just has to
@@satiramalek2572 returning to this again, I just wanna add that I feel like the anime itself is also to blame for this tbh? The Temp Squad moment (specifically, the page with Shigaraki's face) feels much more impactful in the manga due to how open and almost _gentle_ Shigaraki's expression was. The anime removed him smiling, for some reason? It was the first time we ever saw him with a normal genuine smile and not a crazy or angry face. One might say that it's the first time he actually felt human. That face was *not* translated into the anime well, so the moment falls a little bit flat.
Overhaul thought of most of his minions as useless pawns. Shigaraki thought of the League as a reliable group he could count on. He's learning as he encounters more people. Stain taught him that using other forces as stepping stones was valuable. Izuku reminded him of what his conviction was. Overhaul taught him the importance of patience. As he moves through the series, he grows as a villain. The League isn't one to be messed with. Next, it's their turn.
Chisaki screamed not because he lost his arms but rather because now he can't undo what he did to his father (that's why they showed Chisaki's memories with him during that scene).
Dang! Shout out to Kenny for reminding me that Overhauls other arm isn't gone, just held in containment. Makes me wonder about some things in the current events
To add to what you said about Yutaka Nakamura, Yutaka actually chooses which scenes he wants to do, If he sees something and has a vision, he will actually ask Bones to animate that cut.
To be more clear, Compress didn't take his ENTIRE ARM, he just cut out the part that wasn't in those cuffs. Overhaul is never getting that back on. That also means he trapped his adopted father in a permanent coma.
“Now you don’t even have a thumb to suck on” is SO FUNNY I REWOUND THAT CRAP SO MANY TIMES At this point I was starting to recognize that Shigaraki is getting a ‘Hero’s Journey’ of his own that directly parallels Deku’s, so he was rapidly rising in rank, but this episode is where he became my second favorite right behind Aizawa. I just LIVE for his character. He has some hilarious quips, and it’s such a fascinating feeling to watch him growing in power and maturity/intelligence. Because on one hand, he’s a terrible person and the enemy of the main character, whom you love. But on the other hand, he’s also a secondary main character himself (as I mentioned, his arc also follows a clear Hero’s Journey outline) so you also feel proud and accomplished when he succeeds just like you do with Deku. I know this is by no means the only show to do this, but this is the show that REALLY nails it in my opinion. I’ve never seen a show in which I absolutely adore and root for both the main character and the villain to this extent.
This what i love bout this story, yeah for me who already read tons of manga and anime, this shows really execute both perspective and side (good and bad side) really2 good than other show. Yeah people keep calling the plot is cliche but the way their present the plot is soo excellent 👍. There's something that keep attractive bout the way the story had been play, the emotional aspect of the show is very well presented.
As more experienced nurse I can see the monitors and I can easily say that they portrayed them accuretly as the readings. Also when we know that the person is going to die, we mute the monitors. The scenario is painful enough for family and friends and potential staff that the monitors screaming is not needed. Also due to ICU restrictions, only few are allowed to see or hear about the patient unlike in the regular ward. It's pretty much 1-2 family members and that's about it. ICU units are very extreme experience for people with no background in it and feeling panic in there is not unusual.
The only experience I have with ICU is my father recovering from a heart surgery in there and they were very strict, understandably so, about visits. Us kids weren't allowed in, felt unfair at the time but I think it was for the best now.
Yeah Deku is insanely calculating. He was fighting, keeping tabs on Eri, calculating how fast he needed to smash himself up, and still had enough time to find a place to knock Chiseki down where no one would get hurt
hey a bit of clarification on night eyes quirk he can only see someone's distant future once per day but he can see short glances into the future multiple times a day like he did during the fight so he was able to view mirios distant future before he died
Eri powers aren't exactly time based. At least not in the way alot of people seem to think. She rewinds organic stuff which is mostly useful for healing. Deku was able to change fate because of what Nighteye said as silly as it might sound, "wish energy".
Since Eri has the power to rewind, they should have brought Nighteye and Mirio to Eri when she lost control of her power, before EraserHead erased her quirk. Yeah it would've been risky but I feel like that was a wasted opportunity to save Nighteye and restore Mirio.
I’m confused why Montana thinks Shigaraki has shaky hands. I don’t recall him being very shaky, not since even before the confrontation between Almight and All For One. He’s been very resolute and steady handed.
out of all the new characters we met this arc , sir nigheye is probably one of them who i had the least feelings about and BOY did i not expect his death to hit that hard
I’ve always been a Nighteye fan. He’s stiff but has always been for the greater good mindset. Always long term not short term. I liked his philosophies, his traumas, and I appreciate his quirk and fighting WAY more now too. But with the nature of his quirk, you can’t rely on him either. And killing him off made the most sense while putting his mindset to the ultimate test. But I do get in a world full of so many bombastic personalities, his stiffness and mean spirited nature to Deku can be a bit much for some.
4:02 There are style guides, dedicated cleanup artists and character sheets and stuff to keep people "on model". the work done by those action animators is mostly a movement thing/key poses, the "flow" of it. there are more steps after that on the pipeline. as seen recently with scenes from the last season of MHA itself, the work of those individual animators _isn't always honored,_ either. sometimes budget and time get in the way, and the studio goes with a "simpler" scene. it's a lot of work, and there are multiple steps to the pipeline, so yeah. their job is to make things flow well, and do the first 80%, trying to guarantee that the main beats of a scene are portrayed well and the story is being treated with respect. the main art style can be adjusted on top of their work on later steps of the pipeline, and there are lots of revisions and QC. it's still awesome skill above anything the average animator can hope to achieve, though.
29:50 i don't know where montana took this mindset that tomura is a bad leader from nor do i know why she's still standing on it even after the scene in the temp squad episode AND after what he did this episode .... but GIRL IS IN FOR A SUPRISE !
Even though Compress isn't exactly a good guy, it was really satisfying seeing him get his lick back and take Overhaul's arm when he took Compress' earlier in the season. It helps that Overhaul is so despicable that he generates absolutely no sympathy.
I mean idk about no sympathy, I do feel bad that he couldn't undo what he did to his father before getting his arms taken (which he definitely deserved).
There was a disney animator that was known for doing a head wobble AND he could make the model talk at the same time was a huge flex on other animators cause it was incredably hard to do
Shigaraki reminding us that for as much as heroes can terrify villains, other Villains coming after them is at least as scary, if not more. Villains don't get along outside of small cliques, and while Superheroes need to be goaded into crossing lines, Supervillains live on the other side of them. And when two supervillains face off for keeps, "it's gonna get real f_cking dark!"
Probably my favorite Shigaraki moment in the entire series. There's possibly and even more crazy placebo effect. The cure for hiccups. Hiccups are a very weird thing that we do and yet we can't find a cause for them. But we know what cures them. Belief in the cure. Whatever you truly believe cures them will work.
16:42 That is not going to happen. If 😢you look carefully, Mr. Compress did not compress the full arm, he left the hand, which will rot. Overhaul quirk is no more. His only hope will be of Eri rewinds him.
This is just one of the BIGGEST tear jerkers in the entire series. It’s just a nonstop punch to the gut after all that insane whiplash and insanity from last episode. Right when you need a nap this show decides to just give you EVERYTHING it can to make you cry. This scene with Chrono has always been one of the stranger ones to me. He specifically goes out of his way to capture Aizawa alive then immediately goes to stab him with a knife when he starts to think Overhaul is losing. Now I’m going to assume him blind folding Aizawa was to prevent erasures obviously. But the ONLY thing that makes sense to me is he wants to gouge out Aizawa’s eyes for research on Erasure. But it’s weird in this environment with no preservatives nearby. And if it WAS to kill him…WHY CAPTURE HIM?! Either way Amajiki is back to stop him and use the swordfish he was given at the beginning of the raid by Fat Gum. It has to be so surreal to hear gigantic explosions in the background of all these scenes only for Tsu to run over to Amajiki and say yeah that’s DEKU. That guy a head shorter than you Mirio gets along with? That guy is causing this FROM CLOUD SPACE AND YOU’RE FEELING THE TREMORS UNDERGROUND LIKE IT WAS RIGHT NEXT TO YOU. So all that crazy battle strategy I mentioned last time Deku was doing balancing his timing with not just Overhaul but ALSO ERI, Deku in real time just being at nonstop brain levels even with all the TREMENDOUS pain he’s under AND his own power balancing still. What a freaking amazing kid. And once the battle subsides? Deku gets completely OVERWHELMED by the power of rewind STILL outpacing this much in the battle and there’s no end in sight to how much she can use her quirk while it’s active. And I would SAY worse when Overhaul tries to squish Eri and Deku but only gets rewound out of his kaiju form and arrested immediately by Uraraka. (More proof Overhaul really DID get decapitated by Deku when he was punched in the face.) And now there’s only the slightest of chances that Aizawa can manage to stop Deku from getting killed by Eri. (And Deku STILL protects her head as she passes out the INSTANT she falls over.) Some people get confused why Aizawa apologizes to Deku as he saves his life. But from Aizawa’s perspective, he was supposed to tag team Overhaul with Deku before ANY of the body monstrosity forms were made. And when he finally gets back to Deku, he finds him crumbled on the ground crying in agony after soloing the final boss on his own under the WORST pressure. Not that Aizawa protecting him from Chrono was the wrong move, but MAN that has to be messed up confirmation. And it’s ALWAYS rough watching all these injured people get dragged away from the scene. For the heroes AND villains. (Centipeder meant well but Rappa probably does NOT appreciate getting tightly bound and all the pressure on broken arms.) The body cast made for Kirishima, and just SO many bandages for everyone. And Nighteye gets to do SOME clean up by telling Deku that he changed the future. And that just fills Nighteye AND Deku with optimism. Eri gets taken to the hospital and is safe at long last. But we get the League of Villains storming the police escort holding Overhaul. And this is SUCH a long time coming as the League has wanted this since Overhaul killed Magne. They got him weakened and defeated. Toga LOVED watching Deku and instead of trying to take more blood from him swoons like a high schooler to Compress. Twice is just SCREAMING. (I think they’re getting out of villain costume so they can leave the scene easier. Twice is NOT happy to be out of his suit.) Shigaraki wants to make a shogi play with Dabi trying to recap rules to him. (All of the league are gamers I swear. I knew Spinner was but Dabi seems to like it a lot too.) They’re planning what they want to say to Overhaul when they get him. But they oddly come across the single best hero to face them shockingly. Snatch the sand hero is good for decay, cremation, compress, transform, AND gecko. But like the Reservoir Dogs Overhaul fused to the truck, they overpowered the hero just by making blind spots and going from behind making short work of him sadly. Compress got the wheel and the road, and Dabi surrounded him with fire until Snatch was just eliminated by one last Compress. Shame. That sand dragon was great. Still sad as he tried to fight for the honor of those Dabi killed. And then there’s just Shigaraki instead of making a personal shogi reference just goes FULL AFO on Overhaul. Torturing him with an audience and ripping away EVERYTHING he wanted essentially for the whole police force to hear. Stealing the deleters AND the serums. And then letting Compress rip off one arm for the one Overhaul ripped off…and letting Shigaraki commit the final blow ripping off the other making him quirkless, and the true confirmation Overhaul can no longer save the Hassaikai boss. Effectively killing him. Overhaul wanted to rule over Japan like AFO did, then became victim to AFO’s disciple taking away everything he’s ever held dear, his power, and leaving him ALIVE to be in abject HORROR. The EXACT same thing AFO did to All-Might in their fight. Shigaraki is STEPPING UP and reminds us HE is more the main villain than AFO. The league is satisfied and happy to FINALLY get the revenge they all so desperately desired. What an A grade scene listening to that final scream. And then there’s the pin that ALWAYS has to be dropped. Deku after an incident. Let’s see how they botched it this time. Oh god there’s some doozies. Police captain says Deku needs a hospital like Eri does BUT FORGETS TO HAVE EMS LOOK AT HIM ON THE SCENE AND SENDS THEM EVERYWHERE BUT TO DEKU. Ryukyu looks at all the collateral before her and says yeah this is a lot. And we can’t throw a party. But thanks. END OF CONVERSATION. And when he DOES get to the hospital….oh my GOD. Doctor clears him. Says you got weird injuries still. (So the Dabi burn and the ligament degrading are still present. Personally I’d have the doctor look at Deku’s chart and say HOW DO YOU HAVE ARMS.) Apparently not enough concern for the doctor to ACTUALLY finish his check up and Aizawa takes over to ease his concerns…by showing him everything that happened everytime he turned his back. And Eri is having a panic attack in the hospital because it’s probably not that different an environment from Overhaul’s lab. (She’s in no shape as of now to make dragon ball wishes I assure you.) Then he says cool that you can break your body faster than she can rewind And THEN…he takes him to Nighteye so they can all watch him pass away. Deku gets comfort in knowing yes. But after EVERYTHING all this is can only burden him even MORE than EVERYTHING HE’S DONE. And then there’s Nighteye’s passing scene. I can only assume Centipeter and Bubble Girl were making every arrangement they could to save him during the day between Recovery Girl showing up and multiple doctors working on Nighteye. They must have said their goodbyes and peace before this conversation. And I think Bubble Girl knows not EVERYTHING but more than she lets on regarding since she called All-Might and Deku to his last conversation specifically. (I really do think she and Nighteye could have been a couple. There’s a few hints like her being jealous of Mirio and him always splitting off with her like Fred and Daphne in Scooby doo.) She must have also told Mirio who decided to walk in with a full leg cast on and no crutches. All-Might tries to apologize with Deku praying for him to live. But Nighteye wanted to look at what CAN be done rather than what can’t. He has an All-Might injury to match and a Deku arm loss to match. He knew All-Might wouldn’t be happy by trying to avoid the field he so DESPERATELY wanted to be on. And he couldn’t fight for HIMSELF without doing that. So All-Might is forgiven. And Deku won his competition with Nighteye to prove the worthiness of OFA. And he thinks of the most optimistic outcome possible to say what he saw. (And no one informed Nighteye of Eri’s rewind. But he clearly saw Deku as the one person standing for EVERYONE. The EMBODIMENT of OFA willpower. And optimism and certainty brings defiance to the gloom. While he surrendered to it. But I’ll still say his ignorance of Eri is his bliss too.) And now…all he has left…is to say goodbye to his prize student. Freed of the expectations of being an OFA holder, Nighteye gets to appreciate Mirio for all he is as someone that can be his own symbol. And he will be fine. Nighteye uses foresight not to strip his free will. But to secure his future and give him hope for a brighter tomorrow. Every shot of encouragement he gives, you see his heartbeats slow with one last wish. “Work hard. And be sure to smile. After all without joy and laughter to balance the sorrow, this world cannot hope to have a bright future.” And he dies with an All-Might smile on his face as he dies with no regrets, with optimism, with care and love that remain, and leaving behind the world to decide their own futures from now on. This BROKE me and I could barely write the line through my tears. Deku is crying, Bubble Girl is crying, Mirio is crying, and All-Might breaks and cries here too. I just CAN’T. His dying words are among my favorite lines in the show and they even setup EVERYTHING the next arc does. As this arc has been nothing but sorrow. It encapsulates this show SO well. Just an absolute masterpiece episode.
I'm pretty sure Aizawa apologized to Deku for using his Quirk on Eri, the person they were there to rescue. But yeah, this episode is a TEARJERKER, which makes sense since Nighteye is really this shows first character death. 😪
@@HaydrogenBomb Magne literally caused the full revenge arc for the league though. I’d say she was the 1st big one. Nighteye is DEFINITELY bigger. As for Aizawa using erasure on Eri being reason to apologize? Why would that be the reason? Erasure is like turning off a limb which is why it feels so weird to villains, but in Eri’s case if anything her quirk was causing herself more harm than anything.
I can't be the only one who sees the poetic, tragic irony of Nighteye's death. The jaded man who could see forward dies hopeful after saving the little girl who could turn things back. Simply beautiful.
I don't think Eri's quirk has a role at all with the reason why things didn't turn out how Nighteye saw and was more about Deku's generic anime optimism and willpower. Nighteye's future vision caused him to see negative things that he wasn't able to change, which caused him to develop a cynical fatalist mindset, which in a cruel loop hampers the visions he gets. I think this is the more likely reason, especially given details revealed about how quirks can heavily influence one's personality as we'll see with a certain character we know in a future episode.
Its disaapointing when no one reacts to the villains when half the story is about them and how shigaraki becomes a really threatening leader and villain
THIS , like it's so sad seeing reactors never giving them the credit or even the benefit of the doubt just because they're the " bad guys " which is ironically one of the main themes with some characters in later season and even the next arc of the season
there are animator jobs that where the animator only makes sure the characters look consistent and etc. That is why even multiple animators work on a short scene everything looks consistent
Chisaki is messed up in the head even if he gets his quirk back he wouldn’t be the villain that he is now after what happened with the league of villains he was left with regret cause now he can’t fix up the old man he put in the coma which is something he wants to do now he can’t
Eri being the reason the future changed makes much more sense than everyone's willpower changing it. I don't think it'll really be relevant to the plot going forward, though. The only character who could see the future is dead now so there's not really any way to know when or if the future changes again. Which was a very good writing decision because if he had lived we'd constantly be wanting him to look at the future. Next arc is fun. It's really nice to take a good long break from fighting the really evil villains. We get to know everyone a little more and see them get to be teenagers for once.
That raid took 45 minutes total! Also 21:10 It just occurred to me rewatching this season reaction that this imagery is exactly parallel to what Sir Nighteye saw in his vision of how All Might is "supposed to die". Something to think about. It's possible that Nighteye's vision did come true it's just the circumstances and variables changed possibly due to how far forward (And possibly uncertain) it was.
Something that i don't think is explained fully is that Nighteye can "search" for something specific with his quirk, like when he was fighting Overhaul, Nighteye was searching for a future where they win but only saw their defeat. We do see that his eyes change to purple so his quirk did activate and my theory is that he searched from Overhaul's future, a future where Mirio becomes "the finest hero" as he said and actually saw one
This is the first episode where Shigaraki actually seems like a legit, dangerous threat. Up to this point, he's always come off as a Team Rocket-esque villain. A nuisance, but too incompetent or small minded to be a real problem.
Overhaul did all of this to bring the Yakuza back into power, but instead his actions destroyed it completely. I think the Penguin put it best, In Batman Returns, "Tragic irony or poetic justice? You tell me.".
I always took the “sorry” from Aizawa to Deku as he was sorry for taking so long to help and erase Eri’s quirk because he was slowed down so much and that was putting Deku through unnecessary pain? Idk though
In regards to whether Nighteye saw Mirio's future, and the limitation of once per day - its pretty much implied he can use the quirk on his own future, which is why he fights overhaul looking 1 sec at a time and believing Deku would die and overhaul escape (seen through his own eyes in the future)...but he never actually uses his quirk on somebody else the whole fight (requiring him to touch their face and look into their eyes). Just a thought.
So remember how Nighteye said he sees a person's actions in the future but camt see any of the context behind them, well, that's what happened, with no way of knowing the willpower and strength, the power of belief that Midoriya and the others had ahile fighting Overhaul, he saw Deku dying, but since all of those feelings converged into Deku, and mostly from Deku beliving in Himself and Eri too, is how tjey affected and chaged the future Nighteye saw
I think the 24 hour limitation is actually his body's way of protecting itself. It's been stated before that the body limits the quirk, so that it will not overtax the user. I think that, his body, recognizing he was moments away from death, released those restrictions and allowed him to use his quirk one, final time, at full strength. Though whether or not he actually saw Lemillion as an actually hero or not is debatable, knowing that the future that he sees isn't set in stone, he assures him that he will be an amazing hero, even without Nighteye's guidance. I kind of hope he saw Lemillion as an amazing hero, but even if he didn't, there is some solace in knowing the what he sees can be changed, and that his faithful sidekick can't become a great hero, despise what the future tells him.
So Nighteye's final words kinda leave you to assume that the reason his vision did not come to pass was not because of Eri and instead it was because of Deku and the other heroes. Basically the power of hope was so strong it changed the future, not Eri's involvement or her powers.
I gotta say, I feel like the theory that Eri is the one that "changed the future" is not only aboslutely overblown, it is also completely misinterpreting her Quirk as as a whole AND and insult to every other character that worked for the specfic end we got this episode, especially DEKU. Of course this is my personal opinion, but every single one that actually believes that Eri is the cause for this change, should, in my opinion, re-evaluate their critical thinking.
Just a side note, nighteye was lying about his quirk when he explained it, in the same breath saying he can only do it once a day he also said he can only see an hour ahead, which we KNOW is a lie
Im not an mha fan (only watching the episodes i know have the big moments cause i like to see how people react to emotional scenes) and these episodes of the hassaikai arc are so good for the messages. Nighteye is so monotone but everything he cares about is laughter and joy in a world full of sorrow, even knowing his weapons are a bit funny looking. And wanting to impart this message of "maybe the future truly isnt set in stone. Maybe i am the one that simply gave up after seeing it" after seeign Deku defy what he thought was fated to happen. Then using the power that he nearly never uses on other people, to see just their future no matter how far off, selfishly for once, just to see Mirios future that he wont see himself. And telling him that even tho hes lost his quirk, Mirio will still be a great hero one day
Honestly, I don't really buy the whole "willpower changed the future" theory Nighteye stated. It's a nice sentiment and all, and it fits in with the show's themes, but Eri's power being the key just makes more sense to me. Montana's VHS analogy sounds pretty spot on.
It doesn't really matter since the only future now that Eri hasn't changed is the Mirio one. It's a little better to leave them with the feeling that they have the power to change it even if it was just because of Eri. He only did the opposite when he was certain, but now that he isn't, giving everyone hope that it can be changed will make them push harder. If it's because of Eri, then you don't necessarily have a use for her to be "used" when the prediction person died anyway.
Well... it doesn't, actually. Eri's power affects the state of organic matter, that's it. Nighteye's vision was counting in Eri's power too - it showed him Deku blasting through the roof, which he did *after* Eri's power activated. What changed is that Deku was supposed to die, _even with Eri rewinding him._ And there's another spoilerish fact from the manga that implies that the future Nighteye saw with All Might was always acknowledging Eri's power, too.
@@grinstrashcan That he sees Eri's power activating doesn't mean that it can't be Eri's power that changes the future. The way I see it is Eri when she activated her quirk would separate Overhaul, and Overhaul would react the exact same way every time to that reaction, not to mention this could be seen by Nighteye's foresight because Overhaul is the person he touched. When it comes to Infinite 100% though, not only did Nighteye not see Deku's personal future to predict that (Meaning Eri could influence it as long as she's affecting someone Nighteye didn't foresee), Infinite 100% involves continuous rewinding and breaking, meaning at any point the outcome could change from what was predicted because it's being given continuous attempts at straying off the path. Technically, you can argue that this outcome was driven by Deku's willpower, which is what made him be able to withstand Eri's quirk for so long that it did change the future. Arguably, yeah, you could say both, but Eri's quirk could technically still be at play here.
My prediction for Overhaul is that Eri, in an ultimate act of kindness and forgiveness, will rewind Chisaki's arms back and restoring his quirk. If Shigaraki can be redeemed, so can Overhaul, imo

Overhaul freaks out when he loses his arms because that makes imposible to fix back his adoptive father from the coma.
I agree with you here l fell şad for him tho
But, he lost and regrow arms fighting Delu...
@@gohanmoreno7 that was by disassembling and reassembling. Basically he had the instructions for what his quirk would do to his arms before he touched them. But he still needed his hands to activate it. And now that he has no hands...
@@gohanmoreno7 Yes but he has to touch the thing to activate his quirk in that case he touch his own palms in other words his body in order to change it.
adoptive father, not stepfather
The dub having Mirio say "I'm not ready!" to Nighteye on his deathbed is so fucking heart wrenching
"He didn't break a single bone!"
Oh gosh, he broke sooooooo many bones. Bless Eri for undoing that. xD
They probably didn't have the rights to mention Grand Theft Auto. Still, they could have had Spinner say he learned to drive from playing video games.
There’s a lot of references they need to cut due to not having the rights. Spider-Man and Batman both have their silhouette in the first chapters of the manga, but not the anime.
Probably copyright, like changing Zoro from One Piece to Zolo
@nico-v113 I get that, but why would the anime have a problem with that, but not the manga?
The best part of Shiggy is seeing him blossom into a true supervillain. It's terrifying seeing his parallel growth.
I absolutely adorable that scene. And the way the three of them walk off 👌🏽 perfection!
As much as Overhaul deserved to lose his quirk, the fact that it meant the one person he cared about is now permanently in a coma and he has to go on knowing it was his fault kinda made me feel sorry for him
Me to l fell şadfor for him and his boss
I could’ve felt bad for him, but overhaul was too much of a b***h tbh 💀 shigaraki and deku gave him exactly what he deserved lmao
it’s his own fault. he deserves it.
Overhaul's quirk is too useful for him to be left like this
@@pieck5460 useful for him, not heroes.
this is the first time i can remember that midoriya turns out to be the one with the LEAST injury at the end of an arc
GOOD FOR HIM
overhauls VA popped off this whole arc i love that guy
@grinstrashcan i think so ... like she sees a cool scene of the villains, gives her opinion on it, then her brain goes " but at the end of it they're JUST villains so who cares " and moves on
the only one i THINK is currently out of this routine is twice , which is better than nothing ig
all of which is why I'm really intrigued to see her reaction to the mva
because there , she WILL care , she just has to
I love shigarki he amzing villain l agree with you
@@satiramalek2572 returning to this again, I just wanna add that I feel like the anime itself is also to blame for this tbh?
I agree with you here the villains he care for them here yes your ritht
He learns, which is the most important thing when you have a plan. To learn from failures, yours and others and use it.
It’s literally the best part of this series
Most anime doesn’t have villains that start small and grow
Shigaraki went from a wimp who felt like the villain of the week, to an actually badass villain, but there is much higher he has to climb.
I agree with you here he amzing villain to me ❤
Chisaki screamed not because he lost his arms but rather because now he can't undo what he did to his father (that's why they showed Chisaki's memories with him during that scene).
Aye they acknowledged Kellen Goffs performance as Overhaul :D
Dang! Shout out to Kenny for reminding me that Overhauls other arm isn't gone, just held in containment. Makes me wonder about some things in the current events
It's probably rotting away in that marble lol
@@sumcallmejesus lmao
Can his quirk be taken from it or do they need the main body for that?
To add to what you said about Yutaka Nakamura, Yutaka actually chooses which scenes he wants to do, If he sees something and has a vision, he will actually ask Bones to animate that cut.

To be more clear, Compress didn't take his ENTIRE ARM, he just cut out the part that wasn't in those cuffs. Overhaul is never getting that back on.
That also means he trapped his adopted father in a permanent coma.
“Now you don’t even have a thumb to suck on” is SO FUNNY I REWOUND THAT CRAP SO MANY TIMES
At this point I was starting to recognize that Shigaraki is getting a ‘Hero’s Journey’ of his own that directly parallels Deku’s, so he was rapidly rising in rank, but this episode is where he became my second favorite right behind Aizawa.
Seeing All Might break down here always breaks me. The guy who always has a smile on his face being driven to tears always hurts.
Yeah Deku is insanely calculating. He was fighting, keeping tabs on Eri, calculating how fast he needed to smash himself up, and still had enough time to find a place to knock Chiseki down where no one would get hurt
Overhaul's scream and the league walking away is such a chilling moment. That's when shigaraki really became what he is now in my mind
One thing to remember - Nighteye said Lemillion would be the "FINEST" hero, not the "GREATEST" hero.
I remember the first time I heard overhauls scream I was so shocked because I wasn’t expecting it
hey a bit of clarification on night eyes quirk he can only see someone's distant future once per day but he can see short glances into the future multiple times a day like he did during the fight so he was able to view mirios distant future before he died
Get ready to cry once again everyone.
God I forgot how heartbreaking Nighteye’s death was. Had me crying all over again 😭
that extra line the english dub added "please don't leave me" killed me. Such a good work and such a sad episode.
And without his arms, he can't heal his Pops
This is one of few anime death scenes that broke me entirely.. right behind Kurama, Rengoku, Nagisa, and Going Merry.
bro i watched this episode a couple days ago and i thought i wouldn’t cry to this reaction but here we are 😭
Nighteye’s last words plus dying with such a smile on his face really just……maaaaaan
I’m confused why Montana thinks Shigaraki has shaky hands. I don’t recall him being very shaky, not since even before the confrontation between Almight and All For One. He’s been very resolute and steady handed.
out of all the new characters we met this arc , sir nigheye is probably one of them who i had the least feelings about
and BOY did i not expect his death to hit that hard
I seen this episode so many times and it still brings a tear to my eye😢
16:57 “hats off to overhaul’s voice actor”
Kellen Goff my goat. Would you believe this man also voices Freddy fazbear
Even though Compress isn't exactly a good guy, it was really satisfying seeing him get his lick back and take Overhaul's arm when he took Compress' earlier in the season. It helps that Overhaul is so despicable that he generates absolutely no sympathy.
I did appreciate the League getting their revenge, though I do feel bad that Overhaul lost everything.
Honestly, he's the nicest out of the League of Villains, so I don't really understand what he's doing with them.
@@HaydrogenBomb Comradery, as well as a Season 6 reveal Kenny already knows.

I hadn't even realized the whole full 24-hour thing at that specific moment, I was too busy crying to realize the limitations at that moment lol
25:02 IM CRYING LAUGHING
Probably my favorite Shigaraki moment in the entire series.
There's possibly and even more crazy placebo effect. The cure for hiccups. Hiccups are a very weird thing that we do and yet we can't find a cause for them. But we know what cures them. Belief in the cure. Whatever you truly believe cures them will work.
9:44 To say that Midoriya didn't break a bone in battle when he literally destroyed himself faster than Eri could rewind him is a bit exaggerated Lol
No one is talking about how Sun Eater used the swordfish that Fat Gum gave him at the start of the mission to save Aizawa?
(And Deku STILL protects her head as she passes out the INSTANT she falls over.)
Some people get confused why Aizawa apologizes to Deku as he saves his life.
I do l l love the villains they are badass l agree with you shigarki he amzing villain have nice day my friend
THIS , like it's so sad seeing reactors never giving them the credit or even the benefit of the doubt just because they're the " bad guys "
which is ironically one of the main themes with some characters in later season and even the next arc of the season
EXSCTKY!! I love the LOV and it sucks to see people dismiss them which is kinda the point of the story but 😅@@satiramalek2572
there are animator jobs that where the animator only makes sure the characters look consistent and etc.
This episode makes me cry every time without fail
The shot with Deku's and Eri's hair merging together is just Deku's sign to grow his hair out 😂
Eri being the reason the future changed makes much more sense than everyone's willpower changing it.
Such a wonderful yet devastating end to the overhaul arc.
(At 14:14) someone "managed" to kill the Sandman
27:49 Damn. Kenny's look after that is priceless😂
NAKAMURA MENTIONED WE UP!!🔥🔥
Lol, the cats really took over the intro 😂
I always took the “sorry” from Aizawa to Deku as he was sorry for taking so long to help and erase Eri’s quirk because he was slowed down so much and that was putting Deku through unnecessary pain? Idk though
16:45
He kind of needs an arm to reform that arm
20:19 - 24:41 I will never emotionally recover from that scene 😢
Can't wait for the last episode of the season, truly goated
I am going to college to study 2D animation so it was really cool hearing Kenny geek out over Yuta!
In the manga, Tamaki calls Tsu "Ribbit Ribbit Girl"
11 episodes until my favourite episode.
Oh. Wow. Just realized that blue flying horned hair girl (can't remember her name) is the same VA as Gabi.
To point out the Eri vs Energy debate that Kenny mentioned, a few months back in the manga, that was kinda answered.
Hey Kenny, second movie spoils stuff from the first arc of season 5, so I suggest you watch it between ep 12 and 13 of season 5
Compress only took his forearm and left his hand in the capture device. I think Overhaul needs his actual hands to use his quirk.
Yeah, fun fact Chisaki still has his quirk overhaul. It’s just in his feet now instead of his hands.
"alright wario"
You really gonna diss a man in his final moments huh
I gotta say, I feel like the theory that Eri is the one that "changed the future" is not only aboslutely overblown, it is also completely misinterpreting her Quirk as as a whole AND and insult to every other character that worked for the specfic end we got this episode, especially DEKU. Of course this is my personal opinion, but every single one that actually believes that Eri is the cause for this change, should, in my opinion, re-evaluate their critical thinking.
Been waiting for this reaction let’s finally go plus ultra 1,000,000%
Just a side note, nighteye was lying about his quirk when he explained it, in the same breath saying he can only do it once a day he also said he can only see an hour ahead, which we KNOW is a lie
27:50 hold on to that tought
i have that same champion sweater but blue 😁😁
And telling him that even tho hes lost his quirk, Mirio will still be a great hero one day
Pretty lengthy comment for someone who isn't a fan
@@jman92091 I vibrate at inhuman frequencies for emotional moments in media
@@johndinner4418 not to spoil stuff, but again, his Foresight does count her quirk, even when it's applied to someone he didn't forsee.
@@grinstrashcan Remind me when it shows up in the anime and I've seen it fr.
Deku broken plenty of arms and legs, Eri was just restoring them as they broke
theres no way it hasn't been 24 houres
(At 2:35) Consecutive Punches? Is this boy ripping off One Punch Man?
My prediction for Overhaul is that Eri, in an ultimate act of kindness and forgiveness, will rewind Chisaki's arms back and restoring his quirk. If Shigaraki can be redeemed, so can Overhaul, imo
... ok so, I was wrong... dicing onions to tear up / cry did not prevent it from happening during that time
