    Interesting informative video, thanks.
Mine is playing up, it's OK for the first hour of running but after that I have no neutral and if I select reverse it tries to stall which I'm pretty sure means that the clutch cone is sticking in the housing. I noted that you had this problem due to a broken circlip, it would be nice if mine was solely a broken circlip haha but in all probability the cone needs re lining.
Around 15 years ago I dismantled the box due to lack of reverse and discovered it was down to the brake band lining being worn out. I had it relined and then it worked perfectly. Would you mind telling me what thickness should the new lining be on the ahead clutch cone please?
    Cheers
    Mark

    Legend mate!
Do you know a place for parts?
My boats been refloated and all oils are cream,
Reverse slips and is basically powerless, any revs actually slow it so I'm sure it's glaising
    Going to flush tomorrow

@@RoamingFibonacci if the engine stalls while going into neutral you probably have a stuck ahead cone clutch.

It had forward drive and neutral l, revers turns very weak like its slipping, it turns a bit gives up a bit... better on lower revs, it does turn a bit but weak in reverse

      It has forward and neutral,
Reverse is just slipping and weak

I dont mind, i have done two recently, first was without the reduction box that was about £1700 but additional costs to removed and refit.
The other with reduction was £2800 that had £650 worth of bearings alone. They are very expensive to do but last years if done well.

I have a Paragon p45 L in my 15m inland cruiser. I recently replaced the output shaft and the pTO flange coupling because the splines were very badly worn down. On the box label it says to use ATF fluid and I've been using Dexron 3 but do you think I should use gear oil?
