Once the land of Punjab was home to Muslims and Sikhs and Hindus who lived together without care. 75 years ago when Pakistan and India became independent countries, Punjab was slashed into two halves against the wishes of the majority. Millions of Punjabis lost their homes as they were forced to cross to the other side. Same people, same culture, same everything, divided along religious lines. The song holds a theme of bridging the two Punjabs and breaking artificial barriers, friendship and love as the lines say "Kurta from Ludhiana" and "from Chandigarh to Mansehra", "Break open doors, Come around whenever you want".
