Yeah no. Worn tubes can add character for certain tones, but for the most part, it's a no go. People think tubes blow, they don't they wear. I think part of the NOS trend is people finally changing their tubes to fresh ones, haha. I've met some NOS tubes that weren't actually new, just tested good. Testing a tube is like checking to see if a tire holds air. YOu can have an old tube that tests strong on a test, but still sounds bad. It can still flow a strong current but sound dull, just like a tire can still hold air but be bald.
I think the ground was done at the factory, this was a common service job for obvious reasons. My yga-1 which is very stock, has the identical grounding point and indeed cable.
Thanks for replying, I started setting it up using a Squier strat and couldn't get the sound I wanted. I'm plugged into the bottom right input which is hopefully for lead gutar.
@@pietrogoulinni3368 Yeah with those traynors, the bottom jacks are the high inputs. Right or Left to Taste. Not having luck ? what kind of sound do you want ? They are very simple amps, Kind of need to turn them up to get the best out of them. Might be it's just not for you. A proper overdrive pedal could help.
Cool video. I agree 100% on lead free solder. Way more toxic than lead-based when you look closely at what's in most alloys. And it flows like hot garbage.
Oh my, I figured non toxic was the only thing it had going for it. But I guess it's just lead they are worried about. I guess it's like vegan meat, more processed that real. Vegan solder?
Great thing about Traynor, they don't really tell you. But I'm sure it's 8ohm. You'll be safe for the most part to run a 16ohm cab if you want. 4ohm, at lower volumes, you could overload it if you turn up. But I'm pretty sure it's 8ohm.
As we are in different time zones, could I use your younger brain while you are sleeping? My motive is irrelevant :) You play guitar so well. Tea party? F*****G loved that amp.
Oh I could imagine. This cab turned out not to have the original speakers. That and, you're fine if you're playing at low volumes. But yeah, I don't imagine it'd last very long if you actually jammed bass with it. Hah, maybe that's what happened to the original speakers.
I always see people excited to see "original tubes!" online, but clearly these things do better with fresh tubes. Sounds great!

Hmm, I found it just a touch sloppy for a factory job. The amps clearly been worked on, so, who knows.
underrated channel, keep rocking man :>
Thanks! I plan to.
I have a Traynor YBA-4. I'm new to tube amps, any advice on settings for low/high knobs?
Ah not really, twist to taste. The way these amps work, the more you turn them up the less the EQ will sounds like it's working.

What ohm is the output of this head! Much appreciated!

I have a YGA-1A Serial Number 17820 that has been unmolested. I can send you pictures of the chassis wiring for comparison if you would like.
Hmm, that could be good data to have on file.
I have no plans on more vids for that amp at this time.

Haha, my brain might be a bit more trouble than its worth.
I'm ok, I don't know any songs, I just kind of go.
Your not supposed to use bass on those cabs in the traynor literature they say explicitly to not use bass

Please make 28:56 your YT profile pic. It's like buddy christ but for electronics, buddy sparky.
Hah, I guess I see the resemblance.
