Excellent video auto fanatic showing what the makita could do. Am getting my makita today👍🏽‼️ I’ll be using this makita for compounding when am not using my rotary and my g15 for polishing and waxing.
@@autofanaticcars I see Grios has 2 different 6" DA backing plate are both going to work fine with this Makita this one www.griotsgarage.com/product/boss+6+inch+fanned+orbital+backing+plate.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&from=fn and this one www.griotsgarage.com/product/boss+6+inch+backing+plate.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&from=fn
nice have fun and practice practice practice, i always tell guys who want to learn, get a heavy rotary and a junky car and learn the hard way and work you way up to the fancy machines we have today.
Complimenti, bel video. Non credi che la corsa di orbita da 5,5 mm sia insufficiente per una veloce e ottima azione di lucidatura? Tu per la Lucidatura fine, che modalità usi con Makita PO6000C?
Would be Nice to see you get like a project car, a good car but trashed paint and bring it back to life, I think we would learn so much from that! Your cars are always clean so to see a shampoo demo on a dirty car would be nice
Cool little video, I have the same Makita tool, what backing plate are you using there? Can you pass along the info as I would like to try it. Keep the great vids coming
Hi, I got a makita rotary polisher for xmas, but I wanted a da machine, considering to return it and pay the fifference for this one. It is going to be my first machine polisher, and thus I wonder, should I buy this machine, or is the DA function worthless as some people states. Also, in the forced rotation mode, is it safe to use without much training or will it easily create holograms in the paint? Great video, and mighty impressive results on that old beater😁
I would pay the difference. If you’re new to buffing the da can really save your butt on swirls. It’s def not useless. I have a 5 buffers 2 being makitas rotary, the rest are various da’s. The da will save your butt on swirls no doubt. It def serves a purpose Waiting on this one to come in so I don’t need to switch buffers out. I have 15 years experince reconditioning cars. Hope this helps.
Love the videos. Quick question for ya. What kind of bottle do you use for your products like leather conditioners and thicker creams like that. Do you remember your first vehicle you ever detailed
Jonathon King i buy bottles from Zep or a local chemical supplier, search online the tops are whats important you need larger orifice. first car i detailed was my dads 1950 Packard when i was like 10
Amazing improvement for 2 minutes work. Only negative ... I have just ordered the Makita PO6000 C ... they dont sell the 5000 in the UK now. Couple of questions please... Q1. The Makita sounded pretty graunchy a bit like my Makita angle grinder :(:(. Does it really sound that bad, or was it the michrophone being up close? Too late now as its on its way ... but does it have a bothersome noise when say polishing a whole car? :( Q2. When finishing the polish job with say 3M Ultrafina SE ( their finest anti hologram polish) What speed would you use ? And do you use it without forced rotation? Q3. Do you think I could buy the PO5000C backing pad and unbolt it and put it on the 6000 i.e. use that 5” backing pad on the 6” new version.? Reason its not a 14mm thread but very proprietary. I feel using a 5” polishing pad on a 6” backing pad would be seriously dangerous for my Mercedes S Class Coupe! :-/
the machines are the same, different part number for different backing plate only. I got my 6 inch plate from Makita abroad they do not sell it in the states. the machine is way smother and quieter than the Rupes Mille 900 but quite a bit.
Did you get rid of the Rupes Mille because the Makita is more versatile? I know the rupes rotates clockwise and the makita can go down to a 3 inch pad if need be. I have two rotary polishers, just trying to decide between these two models for my next da polisher.
yes i gave the Mille away .For the architectural work i do the Mille was a bit too cumbersome to get around undercuts even with interference pads, also heavier and much more noise during extended operation, the Makita is awesome i use it each week and no issues at all.
Makita can go to 3" ?! - standard LC type plate or do they have their own - I've been on the fence, and thought it could only do 5" and Auto Fanatic jimmied the 6" GG plate on there ....
thanks ! - I need to be able to run a 3" to justify the purchase ... I'm guessing 3" would not vibrate to the point I couldn't use it, I usually just run thinner pads if it is more wonky than I like .... looks like a great machine
yah this machine is solid i have an easy 400+ hours on it non stop and dropped it many times and no issues. We use it for large scale projects for architectural and art refinishing for metal and other finishes and it kicks ass
I am considering to get this makita because it has the 2 in 1 functions. I know it will took me a longer hours to paint correction the car but its safe.
Nah man, the Random Orbit with forced spin mode is pretty efficient for paint correction, much more quicker than your standard dual orbit mode (which this also has). The max RPM is only low at 780rpm, but it has 6,800opm Random Orbit at the same time it's spinning. Got this yesterday for Fathers Day and it's the best present ever!
both, i love the Makita for the direct drive aspect and love the G15 for what it is, i feel the G15 for a DA gives better and faster correction than the Makita in DA mode but they are both worth having, you should get both and try them out and then decide which one to keep, i have about 300+ hours on this Makita now and its awesome, the griots a bit less.
the Makita is awesome all around you can not beat their power tools. the rotation of this machine is opposite of the Rupes but after you use it once you get the hang of it
Mike Gault yes i do i have like 17 machines and it depends what job im Trying to tackle. This machine is great on medium to softer paints where as the flex3401 with its higher orbit is better on very hard paints. I use them all and love options.
So glad I just picked up this polishee

hi the backing plate is the larger 6' one which i got from Makita International, you can not get it in the USA but can find it outside the USA.
Thanks for your advice, I can't find it on the Makita International website, I will try and see if I can use a different brand

I’m about to purchase this Makita and was wondering which pad and product combinations work best for paint correction. Thanks!
the Griots BOSS cremes and pads work excellent, Sonax or whatever you like.

Hi
Good vid. One question you mentioned that you have the new Rupes gear driven 9000 E how performed this machine so far?
its good i gave it to one of the guys who works for me, i have been using the Makita and i like it
Which machine is best this or rupes mille 900? Wich one cut the best ? :) and is the most smooth ?
This machine is much smoother than the Mille
That was a dull finish even when new. It did bring it out decent considering!
gmguy156 old school paint 😉
Auto Fanatic
Yeah, true. On that makita was it a rotary or dual action?
@@gmguy156 forced rotation.

thank you for your reply , i will do that !!
I bot this Makita. I find it very heavy. How does the weight of the Makita compare to products by Rupes and Flex?
just wondering the direction of rotation. does it rotate just like the FLEX 3401 or like the 900E? THX!
Rotate one way for orbital and the other for forced orbital. I believed forced is counter clockwise
you should start a beater challenge with the other you tube detailers and give the beaters away to your subs who win a subs beater challenge...
that would be funny but the leaks in my driveway would drive me nuts, and neighbors would complain ha ha ha
how does the makita compare to a similar rupes model?
the Makita is awesome all around you can not beat their power tools. the rotation of this machine is opposite of the Rupes but after you use it once you get the hang of it
@@autofanaticcars thanks for the quick response I think i will go with a rupes as I don't plan on doing severely neglected paint

leo Rodriguez my Auto Fanatic 007 Gloss Enhancer
@@autofanaticcars I was curious which bottle you had near the windshield purple color
So can a light polishing even help that paint?
it can help as i show here but this car would take an entire day to bring it back to life but it is not worth it considering the condition of the car.
Auto Fanatic what would you think of waxing it then? Still not worth it?
If its a car you're still going to use for years to come, its absolutely worth it no matter what car it is.
