In America, we are not all impressed with glamour. Some of us root for the underdog and we saw the underdog in Diana. But we were already in love with her before she was the under dog. If you will remember, America fell in love with Diana long before she became glamorous. She was young, pretty, with a sweet smile and an innocent, lovely manner.Many of us were appalled at her wedding gown, it was certainly not what we expected. We didn't expect glamour, but we did expect a fairytale gown. And, quite frankly, I was not terribly thrilled with some of the "glamour" that came in the late 1980's. So, really what we fell in love with was a sweet, innocent girl who smiled that shy smile. That's when we fell for her, not when she became "glamorous."

My father died of osteoporosis. He was ninety three when he died, but the osteoporosis is why he died. He was bedridden the last year of his life. As with Queen Familiars mother, in was in excruciating pain, but spoke of it to me only once. He said he now understood why those with intractable pain committed suicide. He didn't do that because of our religion. He told me he prayed ever night not to let him wake up. He said, with a twinkle in his eye, "I keep telling Him I am ready!" And I said , "Maybe He isn't ready for you!" We had a lovely laugh that day. His spine was collapsing making it more and more difficult to breath. That is what killed him. My father was not small, he was extremely active and fit. So, it can happen to those who are not likely. My father purchased a rowing machine at age 75. He was always active and he, at sixty-five, was on the ladder, scraping the paint off our two story (one story, for Brits as we count the "ground floor" as our number one) home preparing it for painting. Don't believe it won't happen to you because you aren't female or you have large bones and muscles. It can still attack and it doesn't let go. Yearly bone scans for all women age forty and above and men age fifty and above should be the norm.

I believe the problem was Charles did not or would not understand and accept the fact that Diana was emotionally damaged. That she needed real love from him and I don't think, again, that he could, or perhaps, would give it to her. The entire situation was badly handled, but I do give most most of the responsibility to Charles. As for Camilla, I was appalled when they married. ***BUT*** I don't think it is fair to blame her for something that I don't think she sought. Diana was an extremely shy, damaged, innocent, naive girl. The Royal Family fell down on the job with her. But, to give them the benefit of the doubt, I think they didn't understand who she was and what she dealt with and suffered. **However,** I, again feel that Charles, who was older than she and certainly not naive, and in emotional maturity should have been miles ahead of Diana, seemed to think she should just "get on with it." No one in this tragedy is completely without blame, but had Charles tried a bit harder and not been such a putz, this tragedy may never have happened.

Charles's marriage to the lovely and naive young Diana was all a farce from the get-go! It was done to fulfill his duty to the monarchy and produce heirs to the throne. He achieved that and two wonderful sons were born, at the expense of poor Diana who was profoundly sad throughout their fake marriage. Camilla was always lurking in the shadows and knew only too well what it was doing to dear Diana. Her death was a tragic way for them to be free to continue their illicit affair, leading to Camilla becoming the Queen consort. What a way to go! Look at the results with the two brothers now. But we were already in love with her before she was the under dog. If you will remember, America fell in love with Diana long before she became glamorous. She was young, pretty, with a sweet smile and an innocent, lovely manner.Many of us were appalled at her wedding gown, it was certainly not what we expected. We didn't expect glamour, but we did expect a fairytale gown. And, quite frankly, I was not terribly thrilled with some of the "glamour" that came in the late 1980's.
So, really what we fell in love with was a sweet, innocent girl who smiled that shy smile. That's when we fell for her, not when she became "glamorous."

My father died of osteoporosis. He was ninety three when he died, but the osteoporosis is why he died. He was bedridden the last year of his life. As with Queen Familiars mother, in was in excruciating pain, but spoke of it to me only once. He said he now understood why those with intractable pain committed suicide. He didn't do that because of our religion. He told me he prayed ever night not to let him wake up. He said, with a twinkle in his eye, "I keep telling Him I am ready!" And I said , "Maybe He isn't ready for you!" We had a lovely laugh that day. His spine was collapsing making it more and more difficult to breath. That is what killed him.
My father was not small, he was extremely active and fit. So, it can happen to those who are not likely. My father purchased a rowing machine at age 75. He was always active and he, at sixty-five, was on the ladder, scraping the paint off our two story (one story, for Brits as we count the "ground floor" as our number one) home preparing it for painting. Don't believe it won't happen to you because you aren't female or you have large bones and muscles. It can still attack and it doesn't let go. Yearly bone scans for all women age forty and above and men age fifty and above should be the norm.

I believe the problem was Charles did not or would not understand and accept the fact that Diana was emotionally damaged. The entire situation was badly handled, but I do give most most of the responsibility to Charles.
