    I bought one as a winter hack because it was cheap. I wasn't expecting much but have developed a huge amount of respect for the thing. It's incredibly easy to ride, stupidly economical and wonderfully practical. Barely a day goes by when it doesn't impress me a little bit more.
    Neither am I a novice and have been riding all sorts of bikes for many years.
    My only real gripe is that it's so damned quiet I often find I'm in third or fourth when I should be in fifth or sixth. Having said that, being quiet has it's advantages, especially if you are going to be out for a while and don't want to be deafened.
    Handling is surprisingly good and it will easily sit at three figure speeds all day. (I put a screen and bar risers on mine).
    Road noise is definitely a thing but, apparently, a tyre change will sort it. (I'll live with it till my current tyres are worn out).
    I would take the author to task on one thing. This bike is perfect for twisty country roads as it has oodles of torque making it so easy. I've owned and ridden sports bikes that may accelerate better but all that gear changing to keep them on the boil can be tiring whereas the Honda just digs in and gets on with it with a minimum of fuss.
    If I had to sum it up in one word "Satisfying".

    Had mine three years. 19000 miles, totally reliable, ultra economical, very torquey, planted, stable and comfortable.
    Also faster and a lot more fun than the pro reviewers say, when you've learned to surf all that torque.
    Top speed 118 mph.

      I’m seriously considering the dct model as I don’t fancy bouncing off the Rev limiter. I honestly don’t ever go over about 75 80 anyway

    I ride one of these for work and do 1200 miles every week. Mine has 41,000 miles on it now and I only got it new back in March.
    There is a LOT of fun to be had with this bike, but mainly by using the torque available. I never rev mine above 4k, there is simply no need, keep it in the torque zone, use the corner speed and have a lot of fun.
    This bike is a lot more capable than what you have made it out to be.
    I also race a GSXR1000 K5 on track and the NC750s is a cracking bike for getting through a town fast and efficiently, much quicker than a sportsbike in congested areas due to the torque.

    Have owned the new NC750X since may and love it. Owned the NC700S for 4 years before that and traded up in May.I travel at least 3 times a week to Bristol from Exeter and so far have put over 4000 miles on in 3 months with no issues,Getting around 75 - 80 mpg and often get the speedo into 3 figures. I own a 2013 NC700S which has now 70000km on the clock. Absolutely brilliant, super versatile bike and I am now planning to keep it alive as long as I can.
    Since I do all maintenance myself but still need daily transport I just bought a used 2014 NC750S with only 5000km on the clock.
    I do recommend the GPR deeptone exhaust which I have on the 700S , it gives the bike a nice throaty sound.
    When it come to versatility and low maintenance costs those bikes are unbeaten. And those who call these bikes slow apparently can only ride fast on a straight road.
    Catch me if you can......
    Cheers and safe rides 👍

    Thanks for the great review. I've had an NC 750 X for a year and I'm very pleased with it. Yes it's a great commuter bike. People slag it of for some reason I'm not sure why. There seems to be a lot of snobbery around in the motor bike community I think. It's just a bike after all and I really enjoy owning it.

    I also have one and it is perfect for commuting and having fun occasionally. The storage takes all my stuff for commuting and shopping. Yes it is not very fast on a straight line but I can keep up with mt07 or that kind of bikes in the bends. Not to mention it consumes around 3.5l/100km. I got it as low as 3.2 when I tried. The max speed is around 200 if you have a long enough road I would say I have seen 196 maximum. Tho the comfortable speed for it is around 150. It does feel a little heavy but you get used to it.
    If you get a chance remove the exhaust muffler(takes 5 mins) and listen to it. You won't believe what you hear :)

    If it is the same as my earlier model, the reason the rear brakes feel weak is because it has a stupid dual circuit system built into the ABS controller. This diverts effort to the front so it feels like the rear is never doing anything. Mine is 2013 and still on original rear pads with the front on its third set! When I first got it I thought the seat was horrible but I don't notice that any more. It is the best commuter bike I've ever had.

  • @aGentleUser
    @aGentleUser 5 лет назад +3

    Yes and it is truly excellent in daily use! Also good for touring because of excellent ergonomics and fun in twisties because it turns surprisingly agile. It lacks maybe a little power for racetrack or autobahn :D But bikes for that usually suck on daily use :D

    Yeah, someone I met once told me that their NC750S happily sat at 100mph. Will do 180+ miles to the fuel light (11 litres used with 3 in reserve) if you ride frugally. Love my NC for the commute, it's an unfussy "just get there" machine, let it plod on while you listen to the radio and if it gets a knock while you're parked up it won't break your heart. Not a bike for speed freaks though. Very fair review.

    I got mine around 3 year ago for comuting (covid killed that idea) and I can say that this bike is build with functionality in mind. So what all ppl said: low cost, silly low petrol usage, comfortable, good handling...Did 136 mph one time (220kph)but it is Worth to Point out after 75 confort drops a bit and at 85 wibrations kill part of fun. I got manual Gear Box and I think it was mistake. It was designed with DCT in mind. Since most torqu is around 2,5k - 4k you change Gear a lot. Still I love it for what it is. Def will keep it as back up bike even if I upgrade.

    I do not understand riders who cannot get top out of bikes - I’ve heard time & time again, mostly from litre riders, that smaller bikes can’t do speed. Well here’s news, I have had the CB125F, max 85pmh, CB500FA 115mph and the NC750S a terrifying 137mph before I gave in

      i am just 170cm and i need really to lay myself completely flat to excveeed 180km/h on that bike. But on the other side, what for? I do it maybe once I year for curiosity. the roads I prefer are so twisting that you usually do not exceed 90km/h :D

    • @Pen15UK
      @Pen15UK  4 года назад +1

      100% agree with you. I find riding smaller engined bikes a lot of fun as you have to work to get the rewards from the engine. You'll also not lose your licence on a smaller bike, but you'll certainly still have the fun!

  • @cloggsy1971
    @cloggsy1971 7 лет назад +1

    The engine on this was originally the 4 cylinder 1400cc engine out of the Honda Jazz car, so it will never set the world alight, but it will certainly be reliable and economical (as you have said). I bet they'll be popular with couriers etc.

    • @clanmac66

    The 2019 NC750s will do 65mph in second gear before the rev limiter kicks in at 7,500rpm. The NC is much more fun in 2nd and 3rd gear on small roads than people report. It also cruises effortlessly at 80mph in 5th with a gear to spare and maximum fuel efficiency. The only downsides to this bike are the slight weight issue and the long wheelbase but you get used to both.

    • @Pen15UK
      @Pen15UK  7 лет назад +2

      hmm difficult to say. I like the BMW as it's really light and easy to filter through the traffic. However, the Honda obviously has more power and also that really good storage space in the front.

  • @alexappleby8677
    @alexappleby8677 5 лет назад +2

    Crosswinds...? If the bike is getting moved about by crosswinds it's because YOU are getting moved about by the wind and transferring minor inputs to the bars. Lighten your grip on the bars, transfer your weight to your feet and knees and hunker down, then you can ride in crosswinds at 100mph + with no issue. Repeat the mantra "tight knees, loose elbows", this will cure like 90% of riding issues!

    • @Pen15UK
      @Pen15UK  4 года назад

      How far is the commute? You might want to consider something with a smaller even more frugal engine. There's some great 300cc bikes around now from the likes of BMW, KTM,Yamaha etc. Also I know insurance companies prefer geared bikes to scooters as they're a bit harder to steal and not so attractive to scumbags who can't handle the gears.

      It's actually really easy. I have my bag straps go under the pillion seat and wrapped around the pillion grab handles and I just loosen the straps when I want to fill her up. She gets over 200 miles per tank so it's not that much of a pain.
