I work at a high school school and during lunch today a student blew everyone away with his skills on the electric guitar. He later told me that his greatest inspiration is Ace Frehley and if I knew who he was. I grew up listening to Kiss.. Ace, you are inspiring our youth.
@@daveb8449 fine is good enough because it is only about $$$$ to Gene and Paul, not art or Rock. They have no soul. It is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven.
Ace relies on the fact he's "Ace Frehley." He forgets he needs to entertain the audience. Say what you will about the current Kiss line up, but they are killing themselves to put on a show by any means necessary (yes, I know there are backing tracks). I love Ace, I really do, but this is a guy going through the motions.
A pretty lethargic performance here, but the God of Thunder riff into this song was killer. I wonder if this was an off night? I saw him a year and a half ago and he had awesome energy the entire show. He was into it but made it feel like you were kind of hanging out with him too somehow.
He is getting up in age after nearly 30 years of drinking and drugging. He also doesn't have the same work out routines some of these other old guys. Guarantee you your performance would be Lethargic too buddy.
Ace has been sober "for the last 12 years." It's true. He says it himself... EVERY TIME HE IS ASKED, no matter which year it is. Which, to my calculations, means he's been sober for 144 years.
Yep and probably making just about as much money as Ace is not as well. YOU dont really think he has a real contract and the monies are split 4 ways do you. Most likely getting a weekly paycheck just like Vinnie Vincent did. All the money is going to Paul and Gene.
@MrJeffRomm Yeah but Keith don't. Jagger has lost quite a few steps as well dont kid yourself. I saw the Stones when they were younger, they are nowhere NEAR what they used to be. Jagger ALSO does not lug around a 9-13-pound guitar all night every night, he holds a mic that weighs at MOST a pound. Comparing apples to oranges. compare him to another guitarist over 70 who tours ALL THE TIME. ANOTHER contributing factor. Try comparing him to Keith that would be better and a little more fair.
'I'm back...back in my orthopedic shoes" Just kidding, but seriously I wonder what part of Nashville he was in when he saw someone else wearing cowboys boots and thought "yep that's my new look"
This is such a disappointing song live - no matter who does it, Ace solo or Ace with KISS. The recording is just so layered, with such distinctive sounds on the guitars, with that wah-guitar riff, that snare-roll beat, and all the little guitar figures that build up over the course of the song. Ace's recording simply buried the Hello version, but it's a song that can never be replicated live. Live - Ace has NEVER been able to sing it even close to the recorded version - not now or back in his heyday. Not even in tune. Every time it gets played, we find ourselves having to "join the dots" in our heads on how it originally sounded SO FRICKIN COOL, and give this lunkhead a pass -- but shit! Listen to this shite! You call that "Back In The New York Groove"? It sounds like a garage band that has never done a live gig in front of humans. Just let us live with our memories, Ace - stop trying to recreate this song live! -- the production (by Eddie Kramer!) on the 1978 album was just too masterful.

When Ace is not on stage it's like a fresh young group 😂
I love the Pink Floyd reference... not too many people caught that.... 1:00 ( I am just a new boy! Stranger in this town!!!) Great work fellas!!!!
Ace is the most talented at looking like he'd rather be somewhere else than where he is.
Probably because Ace would rather be someone else than where he is.
Ace is the Man... Rocketman Space Ace!
No Ace, no Peter no KiSS !
Why?
Kiss is doing just fine without him. Ace is doing awfully, though.

@@daveb8449 yeah they’re doing great using backing tracks with fake Frehley and cheater criss
Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are total waste products. Sorry to have to break that to you.@@actorush132
ACE IS A TRUE GUITAR GOD 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👽👽👽👽🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👽🎸🎸
He did just fine ❤
Did you have the volume up?

He's not even phoning it in at this stage. He's faxing it, on a fax machine that has run out of paper.
Gotta pay those bills
let me guess......he's gonna come out w/ the light up guitar?
Brutal!!
Sounded a little like Golden earing there for a sec....
i liked the clip where he throws his last pick...then realizes he needs it....then asks for it back 😂
walked off for a beer and a shot and came back out..

A typical night. From what I've seen, Ace has just lost it.
An "off-night"? Ace Frehely's CAREER is 95% off-nights. That's why he got sacked from KISS.
@@jondunmore4268 lol fair point

Same. I saw him last year in like may of 2022 and he was playing really wel but a whole year later it just looks and sounds like he fell off a train
This, ladies and gentlemen, is why Tommy Thayer will be playing the final Kiss show in the makeup that Ace sold away for a few easy bucks.
How about the REASON is, Ace turned them down as did Peter Criss. THAT is why. HAHAHA! Gene even said they did. So yeah there is that
Gene and Paul have to be laughing when they see a clip of this. They're right, if Ace was back, they'd have to call the band...Piss.
At least he doesn’t use backing tracks 🤷♂️
Backing tracks would sound better than his horrible attempt at playing.@@actorush132
Im pretty sure they do its 2023 you can find anything on youtube
Grace slick stated people over 30 should not be on stage,
He is ACE and that’s all anyone’s care about
@@motowngirl5891 Grace doesn’t practice what she preaches, then. The last two times I saw her with Jefferson Starship she was in her mid-40’s 😎
Seems like he's just mailing it in.
Someone call his sponser... Just kidding this is my favorite ACE. Hang in there killa

Muito Kissuco antes do show;..
I love Ace but this is a really terrible performance, he put zero extra effort into his performance.
He's getting pretty old at this point 😅
I thought it was a great preformance for his age. Still better than KISS with thier backing tracks, lip syncing and thier cover band... Ace Rules!
ACE🎙️👽🎸👍🏻
Wow what's Ace playing now, 100-150 people capacity clubs? Cool tune no doubt
This was at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma, California. 550 person capacity. It was pretty well packed for this show.
Meanwhile Tommy Thayer is playing very well to large audiences.

@@stevenjames3242 No doubt Tommys a hired hand, just like Ron Wood still is with the Stones..
Dude is almost 70! Give him a break!
He's over 70
Ace sounded this bad back in the 90s too.
@@jondunmore4268 No really. He's worse than ever now.
Jagger is 80 and runs circles around Ace.
