  • Today I am going to catch a flight from Berlin Airport (BER). We will walk together from the express train platform at Ostkreuz station to the terminal and I will reveal some secrets for not getting lost in the capital's crowded airport.
As you might know, before the pandemic, Berlin had two active airports: Tegel located in the west of the city and Shonefeld in the Brandenburg region.
In the early 2000s, work began on an ambitious project to provide the German capital with a large international airport with at least five terminals. The project took longer than expected and in fact the new airport, BER, only opened in 2020, hardly the ideal time to travel.
Today BER is in fact a full-fledged airport. Inside you can find shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, travel agencies and much more. Transfer services to and from the city are countless: besides the traditional private taxi, there are car sharing services, public buses and of course direct trains to the city.
