I can't describe how powerful this theme is. It's like an "Everything is on the line. You have one last chance to claim victory" kind of feel. Especially at 0:38
I look at it this way. It’s basically the events that set up entire story line for the series. It’s a powerful song to showcase Xehanort’s plot coming to fruition. Seeing the body change scene for the first time gave me goosebumps. So many things that connect plot lines. If you, in fact, played the games in order of release that is.

Not really. Xehanort is a critical part of The Master of Master plan to create the Singularity. If Xehanort was somehow defeated, then Darkness will win.

He also hid to them from Darkness because Darkness and him made a "truce". Of Course, Luxu the Traitor didn't. So Darkness can't know The Master used Luxu to cheat...
I do like how they retroactively made this the theme of fighting Keyblade masters. Retroactively, because I don’t believe that the intent was for this theme to be that at all, as it would be disingenuous of me to think that Nomura and crew had KH3 or UX in mind when making BBS.
You probably heard this soundtrack when you were playing terra Route as the music only played briefly in the other three routes but none except Terra’s Route have Vanitas as a boss.

It plays when Terra fights Master Xehanort and Vanitas together near the end of Terra's route before Vanitas runs away.
