I've been playing around with one of these battery powered airbrushes for a while and while they have their limitations they are such a useful tool I am fairly certain I will upgrade to a proper air brush kit. I was able to bash out a tabletop ready paint job on an entire Necromunda Hive War terrain set in a weekend and I can already tell that with more practice and a better setup I'll be able to do a lot more detailed work. Getting the paint/thinner mix was the trickiest bit, I found adding some flow improver to the mix as well really helped and going much thinner than expected and doing a couple of light passes rather than trying to get full coverage by blasting paint gave much better end results with less pooling and spider webbing.

Nice! Yeah, I can definitely see the uses even with a cheap one like this. Even just priming stuff will be great. Yeah, I have a lot to learn, especially with getting the paint/thinner/flow improver mix correct. Will have to practice a load before using this on important things :)

@@SJsCraftingWorld Bulk paint jobs on basic terrain are perfect for air brush practice because mistakes don't really matter and it gives you a few solid hours of care free painting where you can concentrate on enjoying the new toy and just getting a feel for it. If you haven't tried acrylic inks yet they work very well through an air brush.
Also, kudos for not stabbing your finger when doing the bubble mix technique! I got the coordination wrong a few times on that and released the needle first instead of the air and got a nice spiky surprise!

Good call. Yeah, I will definitely use this to do the base coats on my next project. Yeah, I've seen a lot of others using the acrylic inks, will have to invest in some at some point. Hmmm, I haven't stabbed myself yet. Didn't know that was a thing. Will definitely watch out for that

@@SJsCraftingWorld Looks like you have the guard on the end still. Protects the needle from accidents (and your finger from the needle) but it does affect the spray pattern.

Ah ok, did you take the guard off? Yeah I know the brand liquitex, a little tough for me to get though. I'm sure I can find a substitute though.
