Hello James. When i was younger i used to dress well and i considered myself a gentleman. Then i got depressed and became fat and overweight and stoped caring about my presentation. A few months ago i came across you're channel and you've inspired me. Before i start dressing well again ive got to lose some serious weight but i just want to tell you you've inspired me and i look up to you
Definitely worth it if the haircut is better. Occasionally you will find great barbers who don’t know their talent and are still working for $15. I experimented with many different price points in Chicago and settled on a place that does a great cut and experience for $45.
This is where bald guys like me have an advantage. I do my head myself with an electric trimmer and can do it as often as I want. I generally find that every 2 weeks keeps me very clean. James recommends against a buzz cut, and I agree when a man has hair. But when a man is balding and only has a fringe left, nothing looks good except a buzz cut.
I do 2- 20€ haircuts a month. Every 2 to 3 weeks. Obviously, everyone's needs are different but you can find a great stylist for 20 bucks and you never get scruffy
About to be 25 this month. I will say the past 2 months, my wardrobe has completely changed. I would mostly wear athleisure, or black chinos with airforces and like a Cuban collared shirt with a tank top under it. Which I think it has its place. Maybe not the airforces as much anymore. I’m getting married in a month. Since I was 18, I wrestled with the question what it means to be a man. And I am more confident that I’m there and will continue to grow. My soon to be wife wants to be a stay at home wife. She’s a gem. Very traditional Catholic values. Her father is a very respectable man. He’s a deacon. and her mother is kind, selfless and lighthearted. And although I disagree with the Hollywood portrayal that a man should be a playboy. I do resonate with the elegant style and dressing as a man should. Your videos have helped much. I do think being traditionally minded, there should be an emphasis on chastity. Cause being a man is about doing things that are hard. And being chaste, is protecting the woman from ourselves. That said, my wardrobe now has a blazer, suit jackets and sports coats, dress shirts, dress pants, chinos, boots, jeans, dress shoes and loafers. I also got the old spice cologne. I had a really good Versace one that I want to save more for special occasions and just got a new cologne from a local men’s store today. Musk. Also it was cool to hear you do boxing. I do boxing some days and then Muay Thai other days and I’ve been lifting for 3-4 years.
Ideals, Mr Jo3K1ng, all I hear is non-negotiable ideals of being truly virtuous! You're onto a fine trajectory many could solely yearn for; all my best wishes for your upcoming wedding! : ) You're soon to be in-laws should be proud.
Ain’t no gentleman like a English man ( at least as a stereotype) but in all honesty you live what you preach, a lot of the stuff you mention are not that hard to obtain, you keep it real and simple. It’s not about looking rich or above others it’s about looking proper. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Thanks very much for your comment. You’re right, the ideal of a classically masculine man is not out of reach for most men. It just takes a little effort and a lot of common sense.
Bond actors really gives me inspiration. Sean Connery's masculine charm etc. I have same haircut as Pierce Brosnan had in 80's (actually his Bond cut but longer)
It's a challenging film, but the movie "Tenet",touches on every aesthetic we discuss here. The movie "Oppenheimer" as well. Nolan likes his cast to look good.
Quite an assorted ensemble, really, for me! Inspired my side part from Prince Phillip (and Charles?). Procured my first (off-the-rack, altered) lounge suit, a shark skin two-piece single-breasted with a typical British regimental strong shoulder, close-to-body chest, and nipped waist influenced by Daniel's Prince of Wales and Glen checks suits from Skyfall and NTTD. I also got my first made-to-measure dress shirt, a crisp white, desired from Rishi Sunak's well-fitting regulars. Lest I forget my dessert boots from Casino Royale and Chelsea from Lewis Hamilton! Next step? Probably, a Spectre-like navy-chalk stripe double-breasted three-piece worn by Ralph Fiennes or a long coat in the likes of Sir Anthony Eden?!
Old Spice was my entrance into men’s fragrance! A great starter. I think every man should have a signature smell. A fragrance that reminds women of you whenever they smell it a room. Also I started watching what I eat more when I noticed most men of this era never had a little pudgy gut! They were all slim in the waist. No such thing as “skinny-fat” in those days 😅. My recent masculine role model is young Paul Newman. And you can see he was a fit guy. Another great video, thanks for sharing!
I am totally bald, but I make it work for me. Started losing my hair at 16 (64 now), and couldn't imagine, nor would want to have hair now. I'm in great shape, and have always dressed well. You have to lean into who you are, flaws and all.
I think what he's refering to going bald on purpose like a buzzcut, not by lack of hair. That was seen as "thuggish" back then. Men obviously lost hair just as much as today.
Love Steve McQueen’s style. Top points I took from him are- Started wearing high rise jeans and chinos, took a more relaxed elegance approach to my style, and… got a motorcycle
Hmm, unfortunately if I walked around here in Bulgaria looking like James Bond in Goldfinger, with the two piece suit, people would laugh and make fun of me. Times have changed, and what is accepted vary from place to place. But the idea of dressing well never goes out of style. Great video. Fantastic advice re. dating. That "take it or leave it" attitude is really the only one that makes sense. Real men do not have the time nor the energy to constantly chase women. We have more important things to do.
Great body transformation James I would say Daniel Craig, Tom Ford I have been using as motivation myself But also liked way Viggo Mortensen was portrayed in Eastern promises Always dressed proper in suit
I like fades if well done but it is ultimately his choice. Don’t like hard under cuts or mullets personally either. I enjoy this channel, think it helps a lot of men.
Great video. I liked the ending where you showcased your outfit. I'd like it even more detailed like GG does it. Close shots of each piece and all that nice stuff. I think you should pay more attention into the outfit showcase. It could be a great way to end every video.
My fashion role model is John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Besides the Irish heritage we share. I quite like the Ivy League, East Coast, Preppy style. Have I always dressed this way? No. It’s a huge improvement from the Athleisure look I used to have.
I personally think the completely clean-shaven chest looks good, and some women agree, though as of yet I don't do it myself. But trimming is arguably a good idea if you grow long, unruly chest hair. I agree there was much less pressure on male body image back in the thirties through fifties, women were supposed to go along with that and be demure. Imagine a woman back then being vocal like women on RUclips today about their preferences regarding trimmed body-hair, not likely. But I rarely ever envy those men. I love that women are increasingly comfortable noticing men's bodies and having preferences regarding them, it makes me feel desired. And since I'm slimming down, I hope to be desired myself in the hopefully not-too-distant future. My personal style, hair included, is a compromise between classic and modern. I love classic pieces, but occasionally allow myself a broader color and pattern palette than men back in the day. Always good to see you suited, and that's a fine knit tie, I need to get a similar one. I love Cary Grant, so it makes me happy that if I took a shot every time I saw him in a video of yours I'd have liver poisoning. Good video, and I'm glad you've started giving a quick outfit overview at the end.
I know you are not wearing any, but I would love a guide on glasses (I need to wear them and I hate lenses) with your usual style. Thank you for the videos. They are great.
While not Gen Z, I am enjoying your videos. The old saying, ‘clothes make the man,’ has some truth. It’s the first impression that you create. You can overdo it which has the potential of coming off as snobbish or pretentious. I’m retired, but signed up to be a poll worker for the upcoming election. I dressed in a classic double vented blue blazer, charcoal gray slacks (sharp creases and cuffs) blue herringbone dress shirt (no tie) and with black cap toe oxfords by Church’s English Shoes. My goal was to appear professional, responsible and respectable. The secondary goal was to set myself apart to be easily identified as an official for the registrar of voters. I believe I accomplished my goals.
I don't usually give being bald much thought but must confess to being somewhat jealous of the more follically endowed when you talked about hairstyles. Maybe my role model should be Telly Savalis in Kojak!
Great vid! I was startled and kind of dizzy at first because I thought my glasses were dirty but I realized it was a video filter, not my favourite effect to be honest, lol
I always feel so over dressed when I dress like I like. I like a leather shoe, khaki pants and a RL polo (small pony). Nice but every here I go literally that simple outfit I feel way over dressed
I wear business casual and dress shirt to work but I change when I come home: I wear jeans and a nice shirt to work. My wristwatch is always on par. I don’t like facial hair so I shave often and I get a haircut every few weeks. I cook well and don’t eat too much these days. If there is one thing that stands out in this lecture, being well dressed is a sign of respect to others. You have mentioned this before, which I may add. If going to a party or an event which the host has put considerable work, then dress well as a way to show appreciation for all the hard work (and all-nighters) they put into that event. If man dresses like a gentleman then he will act like a gentleman. If he dresses like a slob, then he will act like a slob. An alternate to what fashion designer Don Loper said if a lady dresses like a lady, then she will act like a lady. Getting ideas from movies can be hazardous as much of it is staged and make believe. But then movie makers seek out top fashion designers to assemble clothes to enhance the appearance. We can see what works particularly years after the movie release. The suit, the hair, the posture, mannerisms of Cary Grant in "North By Northwest" is timeless. As opposed to a 1970s movie where the fashions looked good at the time but these days such clothing style is worn for halloween parties.
@@Gent.Z I suppose one thing is his determination and his convictions in what he believed in. He was a controversial football manager in that he had a specific way of doing things and would not budge. He was adamant that football should be played in an attack minded way to entertain. I love the way that you're dressed, but being overly critical, I would say that you tie needs a wee bit of adjustment...Ideally, the longer end of the tie, should just about touch the top of your pants, where the belt would normally be, but no longer...Thanks for another great video!
Hi gent z, Can please create a step by step process for becoming zero to hero. Present iam a zero, No fashion sense, No class, Immature, Under confident i want to overcome these things Thank you❤
I was massively influenced by James Dean as a teen then later Steve McQueen and in the modern era Daniel Craig, being fair haired, blue eyed and about 5'11, McQueen & Craig, there are no better dressers that I can emulate to compliment my attributes. What suits tall darker men like Cary Grant and Sean Connery will look totally ridiculous on me. As a bearded man, there is a fine line between looking gentlemanly and looking homeless, just like the hair on your head, I keep it trimmed and groomed and it will look good, I sport mine to a similar style to that of Ryan Reynolds (neat, shaved into shape, regularly trimmed and brushed with a bit of beard oil), any longer people start flipping coins into my coffee mug.
@@Gent.Zyou're not wrong. Wigs and hairpieces for men have only gotten better. Lots of famous actors and musicians wear them. You would never know. Expensive stuff for sure.
does anyone else find suits to be a bit underwhelming? I mean you basically choose a conservative color like navy or gray and you more or less look like everyone else who wears a similar suit, almost like a uniform. Maybe what I’m more interested in is the more casual side of classic menswear - sportcoats, blazers, Oxford cloth shirts, sweaters, chinos, various leather footwear. To me, there’s just so much more room for creativity and personal expression when you can mix and match from these items
CK1 is "unisex" and very nice. Drakkar Noir is cheap and masculine. British Sterling is worn by cab drivers everywhere and has a hideous amount of musk.
Looks for me are Cary Grant and Sean Connery, but they often were too cool, too aloof, too playboy. Too low effort and not enough interest shown loses me. But an autonomous self contained, intelligent man who can show an interest while maintaining his composure is quite nice. Enjoy your gentlemanly way, gentlemen.

I think a nice pompadour should be done and those skin tight slacks have to go! Men of the 50s would certainly not be wearing those. Slacks definitely need to be pleated.
Great vid! Do you (our anyone in The comments) have any ideas for classic masculine Haircuts for Black men? I usually just go with a buzzcut buy im open to new ideas🙂
Lovely suit! However, no crease in your trousers? I'm starting to become troubled with the emerging trend of worsted wool suit trousers being worn without a crease properly pressed into the pant legs... 😢
If you are up for romance and picking up girls..don't dress for the 1950s, but the 2030s. Surely it depends on the country...but I'd say in Latin America it seems too fancy and pompous, especially for newer generations, you can appear ridicule or extravagant
I agree that putting care and thought into appearance is crucial, but be careful not to be all dressed up with nowhere to go. You’ve got to have a career, and aiming for a family to provide for to make it the full house. Having said that, it’s extremely important to raise hell between 18-28, but be finished with that by 32.

I love the way that you're dressed, but being overly critical, I would say that you tie needs a wee bit of adjustment...Ideally, the longer end of the tie, should just about touch the top of your pants, where the belt would normally be, but no longer...Thanks for another great video!
Good video and a beautiful suit! Bond . . . James Bond.
Hi gent z,
Can please create a step by step process for becoming zero to hero.
Present iam a zero, No fashion sense, No class, Immature, Under confident i want to overcome these things Thank you❤
Hello, yes I will make this exact type of video soon. Thank you for your comment
Burt Lancaster in The Swimmer was a classic example of a great physique for men over 30.
I agree with you there. That movie is actually pretty high on my list to watch soon
He was already 50
I would say Sean Connery, and Thomas Crown just behind
Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra & James Bond (as a character)
Connery wanted to do a Bond film without his toupee. The producers would have none of it.
I side with the producers on that one. He is significantly better looking with the hairpiece
@@Gent.Zyou're not wrong. Wigs and hairpieces for men have only gotten better. Lots of famous actors and musicians wear them. You would never know. Expensive stuff for sure.
Your suit is excellent. M
This seems underrated but my classical role model is between Elvis & Sean Connery
When it comes to classics, no one beats Socrates.
Next time, include jazz greats like Miles and/or well dressed men like Sydney Poitier.
Aston Martin you forgot + robbery tools, $365 for 1.7 oz. ...
does anyone else find suits to be a bit underwhelming? I mean you basically choose a conservative color like navy or gray and you more or less look like everyone else who wears a similar suit, almost like a uniform. Maybe what I’m more interested in is the more casual side of classic menswear - sportcoats, blazers, Oxford cloth shirts, sweaters, chinos, various leather footwear. To me, there’s just so much more room for creativity and personal expression when you can mix and match from these items
i started wearing a watch and trying to buy a 2 piece suit
CK1 is "unisex" and very nice. Drakkar Noir is cheap and masculine. British Sterling is worn by cab drivers everywhere and has a hideous amount of musk.
I tend to model ,y style after Steve McQueen and Daniel Craig
Looks for me are Cary Grant and Sean Connery, but they often were too cool, too aloof, too playboy. Too low effort and not enough interest shown loses me. But an autonomous self contained, intelligent man who can show an interest while maintaining his composure is quite nice. Enjoy your gentlemanly way, gentlemen.
Sir I appreciate your videos but I have to inform you that your pronunciation of the name "Guerlain" is far off.
Creed Aventus did not work for me personally ; they have other scents that do work , you have to test them out on your skin.
Cary Grant.
Hello sir just great video as usual just asking what if i have same hair style like mr jason statham i have the same skin color like him and i saw a picture fo mr daniel craig old one he had same hair style with clean beard shave thanks a lot
Can you review the fashion of Frasier and Niels Crane?
I think a nice pompadour should be done and those skin tight slacks have to go! Men of the 50s would certainly not be wearing those. Slacks definitely need to be pleated.
For me it's Al Bowlly
Five dates a week, stressful!!!
Great vid! Do you (our anyone in The comments) have any ideas for classic masculine Haircuts for Black men? I usually just go with a buzzcut buy im open to new ideas🙂
Sidney Poitier always looked sharp
@@4879daniel Indeed, def one Of my gentleman inspirations, thanks
If you look up stills of John David Washington,Denzel's son,you may get some ideas.
Loved Nat King Cole’s waves
Hey Gent Z, I have a question: you mentioned getting your clothes tailored. Which clothes should a man focus on getting tailored?
I'm bald. Should I shave my head?
Can't hurt. May help.
Not old spice tho…please..Will turn this one away..if an oldy but a goody how about polo?
I like the classic look, but I’ve gravitated more toward mid century Americana. Like a more modernized greaser look.
Any tips on starting a gentleman's club because there isn't one in my area? Also would you want to be involved?
as for haircut styles, is the slick back fine? that is my current hairstyle.
Floris number 89. M
Charles Bronson is another great example. Plz check him out James !
Lovely suit! However, no crease in your trousers? I'm starting to become troubled with the emerging trend of worsted wool suit trousers being worn without a crease properly pressed into the pant legs... 😢

Does anyone know the origin of this advertisement?
If you are up for romance and picking up girls..don't dress for the 1950s, but the 2030s. Surely it depends on the country...but I'd say in Latin America it seems too fancy and pompous, especially for newer generations, you can appear ridicule or extravagant
What brand is that pen???
It’s the Parker Jotter
I agree that putting care and thought into appearance is crucial, but be careful not to be all dressed up with nowhere to go. You’ve got to have a career, and aiming for a family to provide for to make it the full house. Having said that, it’s extremely important to raise hell between 18-28, but be finished with that by 32.
Marlon Brando for me or Dean Martin!
Great suggestions. Thank you
...nice to say while you still have hair! The more testosterone you have, the fastest the hair will go away.
