For a few years (in the late 90s, IIRC) there was a hilarious coincidence of store placement in one of the arms of the mall. First there was a lingerie shop , then there was a maternity store, finally there was a bridal shop. It was one of the funniest "in" jokes of the area for years. Wish I'd taken a picture back then.

I grew up going there....Time flys everyone. 50 comes quicker than you think. Enjoy each day and tell your family you love them.

Used to go there when I first moved to Florida in 1985 and looks about the same. We also have the Melbourne Mall closer to where I lived that is still open but it is becoming antiquated. The Merritt Island Mall is about dead now as Brevard County has moved to outdoor malls.

Yea it is happening everywhere. What’s important now is what they do with all that space. Look at Dezerland, they made it into a them park and it is thriving. Other places are thinking of converting into apartments and living areas.

The problem with malls is that wayyyyyy too many of them were built back in the 90's. The Altamonte Mall, Florida Mall, and Mall of Millenia are the only ones doing well and that is how it needs to stay.

Florida is a place where malls could still work.
The climate is awful for much of the year so people dont want to shop for long in the style of shopping area that has outdoor walks and storefronts.
Also money and people are flowing into the state like a river from all the "blue" states people are fleeing.
