Harley Davidson motorcycles are some of the most labor intensive bikes out here. Just about everyone else has single oil fill and single oil drain plugs, the 3 hole oil change is for the birds. Then the bikes are hot as hell. And the shifting clunk with a huge primary chain rotating in oil on the new M8 engine really HD.
It appears in 2021 their finally making an engine without problematic parts and systems like pushrods. The revolution max, I have a 2010 96ci road king but only after installing a gear cam kit and fan assisted oil cooler by ultra cool can I roll fearless in the heat. My wife’s 2016 Honda Goldwing has none of the above issues and it fully counter balanced and fully liquid cooled.like my cars.

Yup Harley is a problem and a pocket breaker, Japanese made are always the best

I have an 06 and after making motorcycles for 103 years when my bike was made Harley still hadn't made shifting linkage that lasts more than about 35K miles. The only thing that kept Harley in business was the biker image/lifestyle and the younger generations aren't buying into it anymore. Harley is bleeding and they deserve it for generations of price gouging and terrible reliability via planned obsolescence.

And let's get started on the g a y idea of a drive belt that can leave you instantly stranded if a rock gets flung off the tire just right. $700-$800 for replacement belt and $150-$200 towing. Up to $1000 and stranded every time a rock flings just right. This is by design to generate service business for Harley dealers.
