Lot of thanks for this video! Your last tests are very interesting and show that this device is necessary to build equilibrated packs on the safest way. I have ordered for the similar YR1035, very accurate and useful testmeter! RI is always the first value I search before assembling. If all RIs have almost the same value, so capacities will be also the same or with only very small differences. And we are sure that the pack will be equilibrated for a long time , (a good BMS is not enough) , except if one cell or // row has a possible issue (that can happen) ; Michel (France)
Wondering if this would work with cells in a battery - like a lithium 12.8V 18AH battery, LA batteries, e.g. car battery, VRLA batteries, again 12V units used in UPS etc, or is it only useful for individual Lithium chemistry batteries?
Hello, regarding the lithium battery - you can see one in this video - 3S with 10 cells in each section. I've assembled 3 such units, but - in 2 years one unit failed i.e. the second section shows 3.28V while the first and the third sections are OK. So, exactly after getting of YR1030+ I have disassembled the damaged unit and revealed that 4 cells of the second section have unacceptable impedance; so, they became internal enemies of the whole battery. I'll check each cell of each section, replace the damaged cells and re-assemble the battery. As to VRLA batteries of UPS (12V) - I've checked some brand and no-name ones; for example, LONG battery ( really good one, if genuine ) has the impedance of approximately 17 mohms, while no-name one with the same capacity of 7Ah ( but in fact it turned out 5,4Ah ) has about 23-24 mohms. So, the device is also useful in case of 2S-6S batteries.
So how to know what LI ION battery is faulty? What is value to mili oms that indicates that battery is bad ? And what is for voltage? Thx for explaining P.s i bought it yesterday
Thanks for the question. The impedance should be 12-20 mOhms, - it depends on the type of the battery. INR-type is designed for drill/drivers (12-14 mOhms), ICR-type - for lanterns and notebooks ( more than 15 mOhms). Is the impedance is about 21-30 mOhms, it means that the battery is in a good condition. 35-40 is also acceptable, but I don't use the batteries with the impedance more than 45 mOhms - they will die soon. As to the voltage - most likely, the more is the impedance, the more is self-discharge. However, sometimes self-discharge is too high, but impedance is normal. *************** Please, subscribe to my another channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCbQUNw5V5pDPXugLX1FP_Fg
