Cardinal numbers: one, two, three, four... Ordinal numbers: first, second, third, fourth (4th), ... in which -st, -nd, -rd, -th are suffixes. We use ordinal numbers for dates and the order of things.
What if somebody sent you a letter involving a date without specifying the type of date. And it's 5/6/2017 how would you know if it's British ,or American cuz it will be different depending on the type it's based on.
It's not "two thousand sixteen" it is twenty sixteen. America was founded in 1776, pronounced seventeen seventy six, not one thousand seven hundred seventy six, and not seventeen hundred seventy six. What are we going to say in the year 2116?
Luicius Vanegas - My dear? Are we dating? Are you gay? No we Americans say twenty seventeen. Get with the program muffin. What about "Ex-cep-tion"? What the hell does that mean? It has always been Nineteen Ninety whatever, then comes the year "two thousand" and there really is no other say to say it. Can't say twenty hundred. But then what are you going to do in the years between 2100 and 2999? Are you going continue to say two thousand one hundred? Think it through....
I prefer to use British one as it is correct order from the smallest to the largest.
Thank you so much from Perú.
