Not really, American accent is the original English accent when Americas were discovered and colonized. Today's British accent evolved in 18-19th century when only rich, the upper class, spoke with it and then, because everyone wants to be rich, it became standard British accent over time.

I don't even hear it when it's pointed out... But that might just be because English is not my first language and I learned it mostly by watching both American and British shows and movies... So my English is actually kind of a mix of the two.

I just remember watching Spider-Man Homecoming for the first time not knowing who Tom was, and being completely shocked that he’s actually British. I literally refused to believe it at first. He’s SO good at doing an American accent that he made me believe he was doing a British accent in interviews.
i remember that there is one scene where tom accidentally talks in a British accent in the homecoming movie and i had to re-watch that part and then i was like ohhhhhhh and so i looked it up and found out he was British lol

@@meglinnett26 People use the term "British Accent" as a sort of umbrella term for every accent with in Britain itself, there isn't four main accents simply because there's four countries. In England there are many different accents for different areas or sub areas, I imagine this is the same for the other countries, to a lesser extent because they're smaller. It's best to think of it as, all accents in Britain are British accents but not all British accents are English, Scottish etc.

I love how when he says flat he says it in his normal accent and the whole sentence is in his normal accent but when he says apartment he says it in an American accent.
well noticed this is from 2 years ago but anyways that's a normal thing he never uses the word apartment as he normally speaks so his brain has automatically catagorized it as American and switches right into the accent... it's a pretty fascinating concept if you study languages...

What most people fail to see is how Tom Holland is actually playing Spider Man as 'Alex P. Keaton' .. most of his American characters are inspired by Michael J Fox's acting. In some of the darker basement scenes in SMNWH - where he where's a tie - he also almost looks exactly like him. He even holds his hands in is pockets the same way
