  • Labrador makes up 71% of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, though with largely impassable wilderness and long harsh winters, it has just 5% of its population and very few travelers. But we knew “The Big Land” was rich with icebergs, virgin boreal forest, massive waterfalls, 9,000 years of human history, vibrant first nations communities…and a brand new road!
It’s taken 20 years to build the Trans-Labrador Highway but these remote communities are finally connected by a 1,200-kilometer, silky smooth road. That said, it is hundreds of kilometers between services (gas, water, cell coverage, etc.) and takes days to complete. But for intrepid road trippers, Expedition 51° is a total thrill.
Since only a handful of travelers have the honor (and nerve) to complete this remote road trip, we wanted to share the full experience...from the iceberg-dotted coast to the finish line of Labrador City, and the surprising adventures in between.
