I kinda get it honestly. Say you what you want about the Arrowverse and its at times abysmal writing and dialogue but they did more with less and when the DCEU was out here throwing shit at the wall with no plan the Arrowverse were knocking it out of the park with their crossovers that lived up to the hype for the most part
100%. Especially the first few seasons, which were great. The Slade Wilson/Deathstroke thing is still one of my favorite story arcs as it pertains to super hero stuff (movie or TVs). I would have loved to see the Arrowverse with a better budget and more consistently good writing.
Amell put in the work for Arrow. So many of the stunts and fight scenes were done by him. Plus, he really improved his range as an actor throughout the course of the show. A true sign of his dedication to the role.
Completely agree. He had the physicality to begin with and used that to it's fullest in the show. But he needed to work on his acting skills because they were not good at the start. He definitely put the work in because he really had improved a lot by the end.
100% .... The physique ALONE was phenomenal... Then the fight choreography , parkour ... Was at a level of an actor was paid 20 million dollars. I have always loved and admired Stephen Amell on that aspect
For context, on the show Peacemaker, Cena as Peacemaker said that Green Arrow "goes to brony conventions dressed as the back 1/2 of Twilight Sparkle with a 4' wide butthole drilled in the costume." That being said, neither Cena nor the show said anything about Amell or the Arrowverse. The line was about the in-universe Green Arrow (tho he never appeared on screen), not the Arrowverse character. Amell being upset would be like Justin Hartley being upset b/c Hartley played GA in Smallville... For further context, Peacemaker threw all kinds of insults at other DC heroes on the show, like Superman has a poop fetish & Aquaman fucks fish...
False, the joke was specifically about Amell who was known years ago to have taken picture with my little pony arts he got from fans. That's literally what's the brony convention joke is about.
Arrow had more bad seasons than good ones. It started off great with 2 fantastic seasons and then got progressively worse with each new season. (Aside from season 5 being pretty decent too in it's second half)
Unfortunately if they did that.. Cena would win because WWE is scripted and its Cena's retirement tour. I really dont want to see Peacemaker beat Green Arrow like that lol.
This. 100%. Stephen Amell's rant makes no sense. Aquaman was accused of f---king fish IN THAT EXACT SAME SCENE, and Jason Mamoa showed up to play along in a later episode. James Gunn's own wife was even the butt of multiple jokes on "Peacemaker." Green Arrow is barely mentioned in the show at all. Secondly, the chip on his shoulder about how "Between the movies and everything, our show was treated like sh--." Dude, your show ran for EIGHT SEASONS. The network pumped money into it for almost a decade and promoted it across multiple crossovers and multiple spinoffs. Does he have any idea how many other CW shows get canned without a second thought after less than a year? Any actor in L.A. would kill for that kind of career success. This guy played the Green Arrow almost as long as Henry Cavill or Christopher Reeve played Superman. What the hell is he even talking about? "Do you have any idea how hard it is to act in a show about a superhero who doesn't have any superpowers?!" You know who else played a superhero without any powers? John Cena! That's Peacemaker! I just find Stephen Amell really annoying. He's had a very successful career in television by any standard, but he also seems like a giant drama queen who always has to act like he's the victim.
@@doc8013 Thought I responded to you, but I guess I forgot lol. Anyway, yeah, I agree. I don’t think that joke was aimed at Amell’s version of the character whatsoever, and was just a poke at the character in general. I do find it funny that him and other people think the joke was aimed at his version though. He’s not the only person to play Green Arrow in live-action. Hell, he’s not even the first person to play him in live-action. Justin Hartley earned that honor way back in 2006. So if the joke was aimed at Amell, we’ll never know unless Amell actually goes to brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four-inch wide butthole drilled into the costume. Facts!!! I remdember watching Arrow when it first came out and was amazed at how good a live action superhero show could be! It filled the void that Smallville left when it finished
First 2 seasons of arrow were a cut above, close to daredevil level. It may represent less than 15% of the arrowverse but it stands out. Big part of it was the lack of magical nonsense that destroyed the stakes for the remainder of the show.
The arrow-verse was great until it wasn't. You can pick the point it wasn't. But Peacemaker & Arrow-verse could have been an unhinged awesome crossover and we all know who is to blame.
Anyone confused Cena said “goes to brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four-inch-wide butthole drilled in the costume.” Then After a Twitter user tagged Amell to ask if he had a response, the actor, who was playing a wrestler on the Starz series Heels, “Haven’t seen it. Too busy showing Cena what professional wrestling should actually look like on tv.”
Lol, bro was Butthurt by that so badly. I bet if he sees Cena again he won't wanna talk to him. Anyway, Cena is a more popular wrestling star than Amell will ever be.
Stephen Amell and Thomas Gustin did amazing jobs as the Arrow and the Flash. That said, they were severely limited by the soap opera drama CW felt mandatory to put into their shows because they need to cater to as many audiences as they can. The Crossovers were immaculate but feels like a slog to get to them because of just how many shows it evolved into being and just how BORING shit was. Stephen, you aren't reading this, but you and the hard working actors didn't deserve to get shit on. The prop and costume department don't deserve it. The show itself?? Peak start with dwindling returns.
This right here is exactly why I love Stephen Amell. He understands that the show was not the best in the world however the amount of work put into by the cast and crew doesn’t deserve to be crapped on like that. I remember when it first aired and I stayed with the entire show from start to finish. It was definitely a good show! Thanks for uploading.
For as many problems as the Arrowverse ended up having, the first season or two of Arrow is easily some of the best, if not THE best, DC content around. I'd even put it up against some of the best superhero movies, honestly.
@@TheoriginalBMT it really is, and it's hard finding people that kind truly rival the main character but Adrian outsmarted Oliver in ways the other villains couldn't and he actually broke him. i think Stephen's response is completely justified, and i appreciate the self respect, and the respect he has for the arrowverse even after parting ways from it.

It does get a bit corny at times but that’s fine. This show made me laugh, cry, smile, anger and a roller coaster of emotions. That’s how it’s supposed to be. There’s going to be fantastic dialogue and writing and also some bad mixed in there. I am a huge fan of arrow too, my favorite CW show.
Am I stupid or are they not shitting on the show and just making a dumb funny throwaway joke. Like it’s a joke about how green arrow “likes” to get ass fucked at a brony convention, I’m pretty sure it’s not meant to be taken seriously at all.
They didn't. Please point to where they crapped on the show. Peacemaker had a line that said that Green Arrow goes to brony conventions as the back half of twilight sparkle. Then he says Superman has a poop fetish. They didn't come out and break the 4th wall saying Stephen Amell Green Arrow from the CW is a bad TV show lmao. It was a running gag that Peacemaker believes every little rumor he reads online.
Maybe, maybe not. Smallville happened prior and introduced a Green Arrow and a version of the Justice League. If Iron Man hadn't happened, WB would still be working on strictly Batman and Superman.

This dude is so soft and butthurt that his show was widely considered a joke. You got paid decent money to do a shit show on the CW, just accept it and move on. Seems like a total ass.
Totally agree. Amell brought his A game in terms of acting. When Cena casually makes an insult (maybe he intended it as a joke) who knows but this kinda undermines all the effort Amell put in. The show was hot trash yes, but Amell is still an actor like Cena he's there to get paid. Kind of a d move by Cena considering he's always been a somewhat nice dude.
You gotta know that Amel is the biggest Arrowverse hater. I understand him, the show was awesome until Season 3. Then they made it a shitshow. All the weight was thrown down at actors shoulders, while writers was smoking weed. Also no stuntmen, actors did everything themselves. These guys are the real heroes. Steve Amel and Kaity Lotz carried their shows solo. And after all the struggles all they had is fans shiting on their work. That's frustrating.
Even though I love James Gunn and Peacemaker, I can understand his frustration. He and the other Arrowverse actors gave it their all and as a creator I can agree that no one deserves to have their work crapped on.
@@Simon25-17 i don't think about either of thhem and i didn't think about the Arrowverse since like 2018 lol but i still have a soft spot for first 2 seasons of both Arrow and The Flash
The Arrowverse did incredible stuff for the time and with their means. They showed that the long form storytelling of comics could work in TV, in live action, and not leaving the big stuff on the table. You could have a long running Flash show with big spectacle. You could have a gritty lower budget action show that translated characters from the comics for the format. They also massively popularised two characters that already had a big following, but it doubled, tripled thanks to the shows. The shows were not given enough attention by the studios, possibly because of what Amell says here, “we were just on TV”. But so was Game of Thrones. I think the Arrowverse was at it’s best when the writing was focused in seasons 1-2, but more importantly, people were watching the show and giving it some respect. That same respect should’ve been given more by the higher ups because you could have easily turned the kind of attention those first seasons had into something huge. Instead, they launched a few too many spinoffs while at the same time giving less attention to each show individually. More budget and time should’ve just gone back into those first couple of shows, and have the other characters like Supergirl and the Legends be regulars. Other shows, mainly Daredevil, have come along and shown how superhero storytelling is honestly more of a perfect fit on television. But Arrow proved that first in a way shows like Smallville hadn’t done before. If you wanna shit on the CW, fine. If you want to criticise those later seasons of the shows, there’s plenty in there. But don’t wholesale shit on that universe. It’s just dishonest to say it never had praise worthy qualities.
As a long time DC fan who grew up with the Bruce Timm Cartoons back in the late 90s and early 2000s the Arrowverse sucked. Sure the Arrowverse had a better start than the DCEU but that is not saying much. The Writing on the CW shows felt like something on the lifetime channel, too much soap opera drama and just bad writing all around. The actors did the best they could but it amounted to nothing because the writing was just unbearable. Don't even get me started on Felicity.
The fact that it went for 8 seasons tells you it was a good show but it was for a certain audience and to those people it is one of the greatest superhero shows ever to be made
I absolutely loved Arrow. Amell did an amazing job. I rewatch it start to the last season every other year. Just haven't been able to bring myself to actually finish it.
Nah, the dcamu yeah but the tomorrowverse no. The only good movies in the tomorrowverse were the Batman movies simply because they were based on the comic
I mean, compare the arrowverse to what happened with Marvel last year, most of their previous series attempts, and also a fair few of DC’s blockbuster movies… compared to that the arrowverse was ace! I’m rewatching the green arrow series now, it’s a simple, good watch that ticked a lot of boxes, most of the characters had satisfying arcs and clearly had the fans in mind! Peak content 👍
Peacemaker took a shot at Green Arrow character, not the show. Just like how Peacemaker took a shot at Superman, Aquaman, etc. I dont know why Stephen took it personally and thought it was a shot against his show. But having said that, I do agree that Arrowverse should get more respect and credit. Easy to make fun of the budget but when BvS was getting panned, Justice League was disaster, DCEU was mocked seen as failed try-hards, the Arrowverse was at its peak entertaining people with their crossovers Invasion and Crisis Earth X, introduced/popularised Green Arrow, Flash Supergirl to whole new generation of general audience. They held the DC torch at that moment in time (with Gal Gadot/Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa/Aquaman)
Stephan Amells Arrow was just the beginning of superheroes in a TV show. He did a great job and I rly loved it as a child back in 2012-2015, much love to the whole cast.
So did he forget that green arrow is a character outside of just the one he played? The line had nothing to do with Stephen Amell’s green arrow, it was about the character himself
STEPHEN Amell your the man!! I binged watch the Arrow hardcore!! Now I just watched Heels “I can’t feel my legs” WTF!! Props to the writers on both shows! But man you’re KILLING IT not only with the all the action in both. Your acting chops are SO on point! Tempo, delivery and expressions are subtle and powerful!! Great work there young man!!
Amell needs to learn to take a joke. Peacemaker (the character) because of his own insecurities and envy was saying all sorts of ridiculous stuff about other more popular, well-liked superheroes on the show. He said Aquaman F'd fish, and Jason Momoa played along with the joke in a cameo. This wasn't some personal attack on Amell's show. Bro just needs to get a sense of humor.
TBF the joke did became personal when the subject of ridicule is Amell himself. Aquaman F'd fish is a joke about the said character but Green Arrow getting F'd at BronyCon is a diss on Amell who's been known to patron the Con with his daughter. Making a joke at the expense of his personal life is not okay, but yeah Amell should've come clean by admitting he's personally offended by it instead of strawmanning the joke as a disrespect on the Arrowverse which it clearly was not.

I respect the early seasons of arrow. I enjoyed the crap out of those. The story was great for the first 4-5 seasons, then it went downhill. But what do you expect from a TV show about a superhero that has a 24 episode run time for every season. I cannot see it being possible to write a season for that long and maintain a high quality product all the time. There could never be enough money in any studio to justify it. To his credit, his acting sold the script and he carried the show for the entirety of its run time, so huge praise to him. The show kicked off the hype for more superhero TV shows and it was deserved. Shows like the Netflix daredevil and the punisher TV shows would never have happened without the success of arrow. So he is part of TV history and he deserves his flowers.
as someone who doesn’t much care for celebrity drama i fully agree and love how they did what they could in the arrow verse to try to keep dc alive considering at many points it was our only form of consistent dc media outside comics

I love that he's not afraid to speak his mind but doesn't shit on anyone. I'd much prefer seeing him in DC movies over some of the actors or characters they've picked.
The first two seasons of Arrow were gold, but I felt it got rocky after that. The whole Arrowverse was SOOOOO convoluted. But that actors ALWAYS delivered. No matter how silly the story, they always brought it. And Amell is a legit legend for pulling off that character so convincingly, so *physically* for so long. A really fantastic performance.
Stephen Amell's Arrow had me glued to the TV like grandma watching her soap operas. The acting got me in the feels. Even when the writing went stale, the actors still did great. I mean, the comics had Green Arrow with more comedic charisma, but I enjoyed the more gritty version of Amell's Arrow.
Man I always loved him, especially when he got into wrestling and did waaaay better than 99% of guest wrestlers, but these interviews make me love him even more. What a class act, GREAT guy, and INSANELY hard working.
Not for network TV it isn't. They need to fill 3 to 4 months of weekly programming... 6-10 is usually what you get with streaming services...most network shows are usually 22-23 episodes per season that's how they fill out the time.
It’s easy to come after CW shows but I’ll tell you now if we’re looking at DCs staple of expanded universe projects it goes Timverse, Arrowverse, DCEU and then whatever Gunns universe will eventually be named. James Gunn isn’t even in the damn conversation yet, we’ve at best got one show that may or may not be part of his universe in peacemaker and a trailer for creature commandos. Don’t shit on a guys work that he did over ten years and despite the budget still managed to make a more coherent universe than the movies did when you’ve not even got one movie out to compare against.
There's the ones who tell you "I knew it wasn't going to work." or "I knew it was going to work" --- Arrow was one of the best shows, and Amell is fantastic.
@@theharv1490 they both kinda sucked after season 3-4 ish. Pretty much it got convoluted, main characters took a backseat to their love interest and in Flash case, i heard it was even worse. I wish I could send a message to Mr Amell to say how much I appreciated Arrow, his performance, and the whole cast. I wish continuous success to all of them.
Lot of people in the comments aren't realizing... Amell isn't actually pissed off here. He's not mad at Cena. He's just shooting the shit and expressing a personal frustration that isn't even related to what Cena said. Because the Arroweverse *did* get a lot of hate and while it had plenty of flaws worth criticizing, it also deserved a hell of a lot of respect for what it was at least trying to do. It felt like a more proper DC verse than any of the movies did and I really wish it got more support to *be* the center of the DC cinematic verse. If the movies had built off what they already did with Arrowverse and grew from THAT as the foundation, they would be a lot more successful. They even had the *perfect* in with Amell's Green Arrow going to Gotham.
Nah bro did more for dc than most actors have done and he did it on a tv show budget even when he knew he felt like lower than the movie side of it he still put in his all and gave us a darn good green arrow ❤
Arrow was actually elite tbh, Flash kinda ruined it towards the end... the episodes were too kid friendly and all mushy with happy endings and felt like a TV show but Arrow did not. Wish it actually got taken seriously like Gotham
Cena or Peacemaker never called out Amel. Because Peacemaker doesnt break the 4th wall. He was talking about their Green Arrow. And its made clear that Peacemaker hates all heroes with a bias because of their code to never kill. And seeing Peacemaker is kind of a villain or Anti Hero its easy to understand.
the joke in Peacemaker isn’t directed at the Arrow-verse it’s about just the dc character green arrow. They also joke about Batman, Aquaman and the justice league all the time. He doesn’t actually hate green arrow.
All the DC CW shows suffered the same exact fate. They all started off really good first season or two really solid, good action, good storyline. Then the team around them just gets bigger and bigger. More people find out their identity and join in just to create more storylines to write about. Of course the team then becomes woke and starts looking like a college pamphlet with a character to represent every ethnicity and one would of course come out as gay/transgender. Writers would try to be topical with whatever was going on in the news with storylines that would point out that a regular on the show that’s white and straight would have to be shown the "error” of their ways and be educated that they were racist or homophobic etc. The worst part of all this was how the main hero of the show got weaker as the team got bigger. Early seasons the Green Arrow, Flash, Supergirl would be taking out multiple people by themselves in no time. Now that they had a team, suddenly they all just got weak and need backup and help taking on 2-3 people or even needed to get rescued themselves. The shows then were just dragging out getting ridiculous that you just watched to watch, but almost relieved when they finally ended because they ruined it.
This is scarily accurate. All that being said, you cannot deny that the first seasons of each show, tying them all together, was kind of an unprecedented thing in terms of superhero television and media. Arrow ran so shows like Daredevil could sprint.
@@Neurodivergent-j1f Yeah I agree all the shows started off really good and opened the doors for the Netflix shows. I’m a comic book nerd for life and watched them all to the end, It’s just a shame how lazy and woke the writers got. When all these characters have decades of storylines and villains they could be using even if they wanted to take them in a different direction than from the comics, it would have been better than just throwing together some obvious #metoo #blacklivesmatter whatever plot lines just to be topical. And it wasn’t just one show, they all had to have their own version of it. It just wasn’t fun to watch towards the end, it became "ok what are they going to "educate” us on this week?”
I got tired of Arrow towards the last few seasons, but I honestly enjoyed the first three or four seasons of Arrow much more than I did probably all but four of the DCEU movies.
Stephen Amell has a history of being a complete narcissist and this is no different. John Cena did not call out Stephen Amell and neither did James Gunn. The first few seasons were actually phenomenal. But then they caved in to pressure and mad "Olicity" happen as fan service. That started the downfall, followed by crossovers, bringing back dead characters, letting the bad guys go after catching them made no sense.

Season 4 was the only bad season of Arrow. I also dislike Season 7B, and a few Season 6 episodes.

To be fair, Peacemaker made fun of Batman and Aquaman too. I wouldn’t take it personally.
And it had literally nothing to do with Amell or his show.
This.
Secondly, the chip on his shoulder about how "Between the movies and everything, our show was treated like sh--."
Dude, your show ran for EIGHT SEASONS.
"Do you have any idea how hard it is to act in a show about a superhero who doesn't have any superpowers?!"
You know who else played a superhero without any powers? John Cena! That's Peacemaker!

Amell actually does go My Little Pony conventions with his daughter though lol.
@@MarcelvanBulck Yeah, he overreacted with this. I think he thinks he’s the only person to ever play Green Arrow or something, but he isn’t. That’s the only way I can see him thinking it was aimed at him, despite it actually just being a joke about the character in general imo.
Also, yeah, when he mentioned being a superhero without powers, I said the same exact thing. If anything, Peacemaker is more impressive because he isn’t a billionaire that has access to all sorts of crazy technology…

For as many problems as the Arrowverse ended up having, the first season or two of Arrow is easily some of the best, if not THE best, DC content around. I'd even put it up against some of the best superhero movies, honestly.

Crisis on infinite earths and Snyder cut were both terrible but the first seasons of arrow and flash were pretty great
The Arrowverse did incredible stuff for the time and with their means.
Arrow was amazing and Flash!!! And DC legends of tomorrow. Man the fans loved you Stephen!!❤❤
The fact that it went for 8 seasons tells you it was a good show but it was for a certain audience and to those people it is one of the greatest superhero shows ever to be made

I cannot see it being possible to write a season for that long and maintain a high quality product all the time. There could never be enough money in any studio to justify it.
To his credit, his acting sold the script and he carried the show for the entirety of its run time, so huge praise to him. Flash and Legends of Tomorrow were good ftw.
I loved arrow, own the whole series on blu ray
It was definitely James Gunn that unnecessarily wrote those lines.
I can assure you James Gunn is a fan of Arrow. He has publicly at least praised legends of tomorrow. But go ahead with your bs
How were they unnecessary?
@@nalday2534 who wrote that then? Definitely not Cena. And Gunn approved it
@@lunatic5162 and he has every right to. Cope
@@nalday2534 huh? wdym? I'm not saying Gunn did a bad thing. I'm confused with what I need to cope
Hes 💯 RIGHT
I haven’t thought about the arrow verse since 2016
Peacemaker takes shots at everybody. That's part of his character. He even calls himself a choad
The first couple seasons of Arrow was some of the best live action TV content ever. Well above Supernatural or Angel or any other action show.
Peacemaker called Aquaman a fish fucker in the same scene lol
the joke in Peacemaker isn’t directed at the Arrow-verse it’s about just the dc character green arrow.
They also joke about Batman, Aquaman and the justice league all the time.
He doesn’t actually hate green arrow.
Very genuine of him
All the DC CW shows suffered the same exact fate.
James Gunn wrote a script in which the fictional character Peacemaker insults the fictional character of Green Arrow, a character that has long been established before Stephen Amell took on the role and a character that will be standing long after.

Honestly. I LOVED arrow and most of the “Arrow-verse” shows. Stephen was amazing!
Agreed with Stephen, no one thinks about the Justice League movie because it was so bad! Lol 😆
People can also agree that the Flash tv series was way better than the Flash movie. lol 😆
The Arrowverse did a hell of a lot for DC at a time where the WB execs didn't have a clue what they were doing with the movies. They deserve respect
I don't care i prefer arrow over peacemaker especially when you think about how hard the cast worked
Nice joke 😂
@@GhengisGoon its an opinion pal
Its not like the Peacemaker cast didnt work hard too
@@Shelby-bo5ym Funny joke 😂
@@WereSquatch yes but its different yk arrow with the lower budget
The first few seasons were actually phenomenal. But then they caved in to pressure and mad "Olicity" happen as fan service. That started the downfall, followed by crossovers, bringing back dead characters, letting the bad guys go after catching them made no sense.
Geez, take a joke. Peacemaker rips on several DC characters through the season. It's a freaking action comedy show.
Same could be said to you. He makes it clear that he's joking and that he holds no ill will towards him. Next time watch more than 5 seconds of the video.
I get that Amell is pissed but he should be pissed that the joke from Peacemaker was personal (against Amell) and not against the show. The joke was about Green Arrow going to MLP conventions which is something Amell does in real life with his daughter. They weren't shitting on the show, they were shitting on Amell and his family.
Does this guy not know Green Arrow is a comic character? That peacemaker was talking about the unseen dceu version and not his little Arrowverse version?
But he was taking about his version since the joke was about a rumor about him
