    hi, love your videos, I'm a PMHNP! want to say that dystonia can be life-threatening, especially if it affects the laryngeal muscles. I would definitely report this to a healthcare provider! it is very painful, usually with acute onset, and should be reported immediately! young males are more at risk. haldol and other high-potency antipsychotics are more likely to cause dystonia.

    Hi Mike!
    I love your channel and some of your videos I continue to watch over and over again. They are very insightful and make it so easy to remember this vital information on how to care for our patients. I have been a nurse for many years and
    I am studying for my certifications in mental illness/health. I love that we have embraced those who struggle with mental challenges as human beings no different from anyone else who suffers from illness. They need our genuine love and support and I want to make a difference in their lives as I continue in my calling as a nurse!!!
    Love to all!!

    All antipsychotics are vey harmful. They are not 'anti-psychosis' specifically, they are major tranquilizers with terrible side effects.They should only be used in the very short term, whilst the underlying cause of the distress is managed.

      The only thing good about any antipsychotic is that when you come off one and your serotonin receptors begin to be unblocked and reactivated, cocaine becomes a psychedelic. That's the one and only thing good about an antipsychotic. I no longer am being forced by Veterans Court to be on one and I never needed it to begin with. Nobody needs an antipsychotic! If you have schizophrenia, sucks for you, but you need a dopamine stabilizer... not an antipsychotic. Dopamine stabilizers, like Abilify, make one line of cocaine last for eight hours. It also makes crank even more powerful.

      Hey I got an idea. These drugs are so extremely neurotoxic and dangerous why aren’t they just made illegal and ‘healthcare professionals’ who prescribe them imprisoned? Then a lot fewer people will try to commit suicide which is a known side effect of many of these psychiatric drugs and the world will be a better place.

    • @BrownskinbambiRN
      @BrownskinbambiRN 2 года назад

      i think its because with typical antipsychotics they only treat the positive symptoms and not the negative , so since this meds blocks dopamine then you already know that they will develop this the common side effects is eps , if a pt takes an atypical it blocks both but atypicals eps and tardive dyskinesia is rare

    • @heidih3048
      @heidih3048 2 года назад

      @@BrownskinbambiRN According to reputable medical texts, signs of tardive dyskinesia are serious side effects that must be monitored for with use of ANY antipsychotic (though TD is rare with atypical antipsychotics). Once TD symptoms develop, the antipsychotic med must be reduced, stopped, or changed. If TD symptoms are ignored and allowed to go on unchecked, they may become permanent, regardless of whether the antipsychotic is eventually stopped or reduced. My issue with this video is that Mike is suggesting that TD symptoms are not serious, suggesting that they are not worth reporting immediately to the MD.

      Haldol has suicidality as a known side effect. I tried to kill myself in college after a psychiatrist gave it to me.

      @@masterlee2590 this should be banned because I had terrible side effects with Haldol. I went to the ER for stomach ache and as soon as I was given haldol in my IV bag I had the urge to leave. I didn’t know anything about this drug and couldn’t understand why I felt this way. They released me to go home and the symptoms got worse. As I was driving I was screaming, speeding, fidgeting, and was very confused, and could not think straight. I couldn’t even look at my phone and was surprised I made it home. At home I was pacing, running in place, and could not sit still. I took 3 showers to try to calm down I also started to think about taking sleeping pills to end this feeling of anxiety. I was not able to care for my toddler being the state I was in. My heart rate was so fast I felt like I was going to die. Fast forward a week later I am having dizzy spells, foggy brain, and light headedness. I hope recover fully from this soon because it is affecting my work and everyday activities. I highly do not recommend this drug for stomach aches. It did not help me at all. I am also thinking about legal action due to my condition.

    It's a misconseption that those drugs are anti psychotics when they are actually psychotic antagonist for predisposition to psychosis, your problem is you don't know there is a difference between psychotic an psychosis,
    Psychotic is depression an psychosis is happily schizophrenic

    • @benjaminthistle6637
      @benjaminthistle6637 Год назад

      The trouble is you'd give someone psychotic with depression this,
      You are perverting psychotic as psychosis,
      You don't know there is a difference, you want someone's depressive argument silenced if it's credible about those drugs being depression psychotic antagonist,you are saying depression psychotic emotion is schizophrenia psychosis emotion, you are giving a depressed person depressive tranquilizer drug for that reason it's psychotic angry sad emotion antagonist

    • @benjaminthistle6637

      Yeah it’s really not hard to kill people with psychiatric drugs. It’s built into the drugs. Doesn’t really take much skill.
