Yep, there is something about peeling the protection off a new camera. It's right up there with that new camera smell when you first open the box🤣. Great unboxing video, mate.
@Ralph Mayhew Photography I stumbled onto your Channel a couple of months ago. I was looking for a comparison between the Z5 and Z6, and your video was excellent. I choose the Z5 because I didn't need the Video side of the camera. You hit it right on the head with Z5, I love it! Your Channel is very informative and entertaining, keep up the great work my friend!

I find it so interesting how Nikon have kept the same aesthetic and ergonomics for decades yet managed to modernise a bit at the same time. First photos? Hmmm… something that puts the AF to the test
It’s interesting isn’t it. Even compared to the old pro bodies it looks very similar. Agreed… there’s some water swooping bats nearby I feel pretty keen to shoot.
I love the Nikon DNA, it's the only company that takes it seriously. Stubbornness that helps in this regard but hurts with the features and tech. I do think that they are really changing this for the better.

100% So many people stating Nikon Z line is ugly or like some utilitarian soviet block kind of thing.. To me, Nikon's Z line looks more like a camera than any other brand.

I've never used a Nikon but I really like how the buttons are laid out. Looks sweet.
The intuitive feel of the layout is what caused me to get one as my first dslr, over the other brands.

It's a a special moment getting one of these rare beasts. Suggest starting with landscape before trying wildlife as the AF modes are a tad daunting at first. Also check that you have the latest firmware as the last update added some great features, increased video Fram rates and improved AF subject detection. Enjoy the journey.

As a portrait landscape photographer for 4-5 years with nikon d5500 i think i will be really happy with nikon z5)

Thanks so much. I’m gonna give it work out today, that’s for sure. Great call on the z5, it’s a beautiful camera and has a decent price tag. I’d love too but I haven’t got those adapters. I tell you what, I’ll approach the companies and ask them 👍 is the YN, Yongnuo?
@@RalphMayhewPhotography with viltrox you don't need adapters if you are wondering about them, they have a z mount lenses and yes i mean Yongnuo they also have 85 and 50 mm lenses for z mount)

@@RalphMayhewPhotography also viltrox have their own ftz adapter i saw that there just one video on RUclips reviewing it with not much of details like i would like to be. Viltrox lenses as i saw in the reviews are great value for money, but YN lenses their is very little of reviews talking about them and also they are weather sealed for 360 if I'm not mistaken. Make a search about them and give a chance I'll be waiting your reviews if you will do some)

Truly happy for you Ralph. For me it is not possible at this moment to purchase it, nor the Z7 II for that matter :) I can only imagone how you feel as I would be out of my mind :) I love new stuff especially regarding photography. Well as a fan of formula 1 it could be a challenge next year to photograph the race with it :)

I got mine on the evening of the 23rd December 2021. I love it and have hardly picked up another camera since. Would love to catch up with you one weekend for a shoot.
That’s epic man. I’ve spent a bunch of hours playing and experimenting and the tracking and auto focus is INSANE. where abouts are you based? (I realise I may have asked this already, sorry if I have :s)

Why delivery took 58 days after order? In India i got delivery in 4 days

Hahaha you can’t be perfect. Nice idea. Just did my boy in the backyard running full tilt toward the camera. 30 shots in a row everyone in focus. That’s nuts!!!
Still don't know why Nikon can't backup video to the second card slot. This is forcing me to another brand for my next camera, Ive been waiting patiently since the Z6 was announced years ago. I daren't imagine how many hybrid shooters that this feature is essential have just moved away from Nikon, the wedding market alone will damage their sales.
Seems like a simple firmware upgrade 🤷🏼♂️ which brand are you moving to?
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Sony - mainly because of the newly announced 20-40mm F2.8 Tamron, its pretty much my focal range I use. Im not a big fan of Sony ergonomics (I've used a few) but Im sure I can retrain myself.
@@markshirley01 the Sony units are nice 👍 I hope it works well. If I ever left Nikon that’s where I’d head too.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Im sure Nikon will catch up (mid market) its just I really need to make my next camera purchase as my D750 is 8 years old now. Im sure the Z8 will be a winner as well - but when will it actually be released - the rumours are it'll compete with the R5 at £3900 - that's beyond my budget (£2500)
@@markshirley01 yeah I hear ya. What kept me on Nikon when I needed to upgrade a few years ago was all the Nikon glass I already had. If that wasn’t the case I would have shifted to Sony a while ago. And then been jealous of the z9 lol
