That whistling was what I call anointed ... she was channeling the divine and it showed in her actions and how it moved the people. It was indeed a spiritual thing! Her voice is amazing ... I have always loved her style.
The most consistent and controlled whistles I heard come from Chante. She can modify the volume and fullness of them too. On top of that she has very good belts, both upper and mid, and consistent stable lows. Great singer with great discography.

Most controlled is definitely arguable especially considering that Minnie and Mariah are there (both do things that Chante can't, just like she's able to sing in it for extended periods of time, live and I haven't seen that from them). She is excellent up to G most of the time live now. Her voice is in her prime now. Minnie could do this too. In her Rotary Connection days she used to use whistle extensively at points.

I'm sorry this beautiful songstress has not gotten the credit she deserves. The voice has only gotten stronger over time and nobody can whistle note like her. She should be much more world renown with the gift she brings to music.

The first time I heard, on the radio, the extended cut of "Love Has Taken Over" in 1992, I KNEW the deal. Her entire voice is so mellifluous and lithe.
Chante is the best of the best! I love her. Check out Georgia Brown a Brazilian girl. She has the biggest range in whistle notes 8 octaves so they say.
