I wish they had kept both Brendan and Mikey around for a few more seasons. Brendan would have been whacked by Tony personally for selling drugs to Meadow in college, and Mikey would have succumbed to his severe case of Fuckfaceitis.
The issue is that Mikey was a true, full-blooded gangster, a real badass. In fact, there was no one else like him in the show, even Richie, Ralphie or Furio, although great, were different. That's why it was a severe mistake to take Mikey away so soon.
+jfjsas07 Agreed, I remember he took a beating from Tony and looked up and for a brief moment smiled. Only thing was he was going down on the indictments with Junior so either way his character didn't have a path on the show.
And then cried "OWWIE OWWIE" like a little girl. He was a ruthless scumbag for sure but not sure why everyone thinks he was so badass, always cried like a bitch when the consequences of his actions caught up to him.
Funny how Mikey made hilarious comments before killing each of the three he took out: "When I toss you over, if you can fly, I won't shoot you down; deal?" "Hey, Donnie, SORRY!" And this gem.
This never got Mikey killed by Chris, Mikey got killed because Tony told Chris and Paulie to take him out and the rest of juniors crew for the attempt made on tony's life. Brendan got whacked to send a message to Chrissy to stop "Hi-Jacking" Juniors trucks
They seriously should have kpt Brendon Filone alive longer @ least for the rest of season1,cos I bet there would hav been twice the amount action and let alone wacks going on in season1.But somehow Brendon always just somehow kept me amused and laughing especially when tony through him out of his office as he crashed onto the meat counter lol.But i think that there isnt a single character in the whole of Sopranos who could be like Brendan. Feel free to correct me if u think i'm wrong.Just saying
Lol me too didnt know till i just read this. Thought mikey was just a sick and thought it sounded cool even though his name is brendan not jack! But he was killing him for hijacking a truck "hi jack" doh
Because he knew Mikey whacked him and just wanted to say something before he killed him. If he whacked Mikey because of the Brendan hit he would of done it earlier in the season most of juniors crew got whacked in that episode junior would have been dead if he didn't get arrested
mob bosses do this often: watch a hit go down. In my country we had a 'gangster' who would sit on a bench nearby. He ordered someone to get shot and he'd watch as it happened, perhaps even tipping the guy off (better watch your back). Has to do with their controlfreak needs, I guess (Tony was right though: the 'gangster' is in jail now, after his sister snitched).
Those people kill each other in their power struggles and they kill the members of their own crews when they commit serious mistakes. AND they have small families. -> They will probably die out in the near future
it's like rats ;). Wherever the situations allows it, gangsters will turn up. Corruption helps and 'the family' isn't purely genetic. Anyone can join the family, after gaining trust/doing certain 'jobs'. And like other rich families, they protect what's theirs (without morals, as usual). So don't count on it. Only thing that can stop 'em is a police state with robots enforcing the law (can't get bribed). Until then...
Friedrich Salzmann yes and no Each decade has brought its own version of gangster culture generally , but that’s specifically true of LCN. The 1980s saw a lot of bloodshed with internal wars in 4 of the 5 New York families and inter family conflict as well. In addition there were mass prosecutions and defections. The 1990s were similar but the mob was already decimated so there was less to prosecute, still a lot of killing went on. Starting in the 2000s though things have kind of swung back. You rarely see mob hits anymore, government informants are much less common than they were in the 1990s. Prosecutions still go on but they have slowed down a great deal and bosses are remaining bosses for longer periods again, unlike the 80s and 90s when one was getting shot or jailed for life every year. The same hierarchies have been running three of the 5 families for 10+ years. That is the kind of stability that can build a solid organization with connections below with the common people , around with business owners and unions and above with politicians and law enforcement. Things have swung back towards balance , on the whole .
Not necessarily, Junior clearly seems to have taken the hijacking as a personal insult, plus at that point in the show you don't know how much of a bitch Mikey is to Junior. Tony's kill count seen ON the show is only seven, and most of them were very personal. He only carries out one "hit" himself and it was more of a coincidence than anything else (Petrulio) all his other murders were either "war time" or personal/out of anger.
***** Why the hell would Mikey give a shit about that? Also given that Chris becomes one of the most dislikable characters, I wouldn't feel bad if Mikey whacked him too.
Imagine if Brendan was asleep and Mikey waited there for a grueling 27 minutes until he finally woke up.
DatGanjaSmuggla can he just wake the fuck up now?!
I wish they had kept both Brendan and Mikey around for a few more seasons. Brendan would have been whacked by Tony personally for selling drugs to Meadow in college, and Mikey would have succumbed to his severe case of Fuckfaceitis.
Louis Garday Word never got back to Tony about who sold Meadow the drugs.
The scene is beautifully... shot.
Mikey Palmice rules. Wish he would have been around to interact with Ritchie.
The issue is that Mikey was a true, full-blooded gangster, a real badass. In fact, there was no one else like him in the show, even Richie, Ralphie or Furio, although great, were different. That's why it was a severe mistake to take Mikey away so soon.
I agree him and sal big pussy bonpenserio got killed off to soon
jfjsas: Well said! Couldn't agree more.
+jfjsas07 Agreed, I remember he took a beating from Tony and looked up and for a brief moment smiled. Only thing was he was going down on the indictments with Junior so either way his character didn't have a path on the show.
+jfjsas07 How was he different?

Funny how Mikey made hilarious comments before killing each of the three he took out: "When I toss you over, if you can fly, I won't shoot you down; deal?" "Hey, Donnie, SORRY!" And this gem.
And then of course when he died, his last words were crying and pleading like a pussy "oh cmon please!!"
Mikey Palmice got killed off soon they should have kept him for a few more seasons
Mikey was one of my favorite characters.

Would have loved to have seen Mikey and Ralphie together. I think they would have gotten along
They would've given Tony a stroke.
Mickey was awesome.
This never got Mikey killed by Chris, Mikey got killed because Tony told Chris and Paulie to take him out and the rest of juniors crew for the attempt made on tony's life. Brendan got whacked to send a message to Chrissy to stop "Hi-Jacking" Juniors trucks
No more baths for me.
Clever on the part of Mikey "Grab Bag" Palmice. "Hijack, bye Jack." Aka - "You're being killed for your hijack job."
the sopranos muito épico hi jack bye jack...
If mikey didn't hate tony so much he would of stuck around
the death bath tub.

Hi Jack - Bye Jack.
Mr. Magoo strikes again.
It took me way to long to understand what Mikey meant by "hi jack..bye jack"
it took me until I read your comment.
Ben Stahr ha me too
Lol me too didnt know till i just read this. Thought mikey was just a sick and thought it sounded cool even though his name is brendan not jack! But he was killing him for hijacking a truck "hi jack" doh

Que bueno me alegro.
hi jack bye jack got wacked
That wart on his toe looks disgusting.
why did he call him jack, just wondering?
@beachdude agreed all the way !
I was so let down when they killed him off, he's S0 hot! LoL
Hi, Jack.
Because he knew Mikey whacked him and just wanted to say something before he killed him. If he whacked Mikey because of the Brendan hit he would of done it earlier in the season most of juniors crew got whacked in that episode junior would have been dead if he didn't get arrested
That would be more the exception to the rule-unless Junior didn't trust Mikey to do the job right.
wait. why was Junior watching?
Brendan hijacked two of Junior's trucks and killed the driver, that's why he got whacked.

and that creates its own set of problems...

Would Brendan have screamed? Or did his brain just immediately shut down?
haha, is this the same episode that Meadow and her friend try to buy meth from Cris?
Anyone else notice Brendan has a hammer and sickle tattoo on his forearm after he's shot?
stfu
Mike Lopez just noticed it, perhaps he's Russian.
Probably not his name's Brendon Filone.
Wow I suddenly feel a lot less bad for him
Fucking communists
i forgot. why did junior whack him?
For Real, Mikey was a cool character.
