Ah yes. Classic WoW community destroying itself yet again. The biggest problem of Classic are the community and the players. Be it Toxicity, GDKP, gold buying or the best: SoD Parsing. Classic Community is worse than Retail, especially if we talk about elitism.
i agree... as a new wow player in general (or more like returning after more than a decade) the lack of tolerance for a noob tank is depressing. everybody expects you to know the dungeons and raids inside out, but nobody is willing to help you learn

classic players in my experience just completely ignore you and don't even bother throwing a buff on you now and then. the community is worse than retail. it's a shame because the game itself is pretty fun.

This type of behavior is such an insane turn off for me to play Classic, and it happens time and time again. These people obviously have incredibly suppressed egos, that as soon as they get even a HINT of power, they take it to wild extremes. What's worse is, this is basically the same nonsense that happened when people tried to do Hardcore. They created what is effectively a leveling challenge at best. There are no hard rules here. Everyone has to agree to do it in good faith, and if they don't you can't stop them. Its meant to be FUN. But these people trying to pretend like they are kings of a kindergarden turn a fun idea about Classic into a joke, make themselves look like absolute clowns along the way, and probably show Blizzard this is not a movement to be respected. Why does this keep happening with Classic over and over? The game is amazing, but some how people just can't help but ruin it.
It's like Jordan Peterson said, "Abdicated responsibility is turned into the power wielded by tyrants." Most people just want to have fun with the game, so they're not going to do much. Unfortunately, that leaves only the power-hungry to take the positions of power in the communities. I think this is the inevitable fate of classic, as it always had this veneer of a nostalgic holiday resort rather than a serious experience. Consider: can you name me one person who is seriously trying to play Classic as a full-fledged game? I haven't really heard of anyone making their name in Classic, and most people in WoW sphere treat it as more of an event ("oh hey, we get to re-experience those old things and stuff! cool!")
These guys are literally roleplaying as Gamemasters lmao, they can't control the server or what people do on the server, nor should they be allowed to get the entire server to blacklist people for playing the game normally outside of their self-made challenge. Blizzard should ban these guys for impersonating GMs.

This is why I'm not even bothering leveling on this server. If y'all accomplish a real fresh, that's great, but playing with these Timelost gatekeeping psychos doesn't sound like any fun at all. If you end up on the bad side of any these discord mods, you get kicked out of the movement and have your time wasted. It's very clearly not about whether you're going to abide or not, it's because they don't like you.

i seen this in the discord days ago and i just said i’ve played with defiant and people can play how they want and we can do the phase as it’s set up. like does it really matter 😂 issue is people with there little following started the movement and have to feel entitled over a video game.

these unofficial "official" discords are cancerous, they are used most of the time to enforce arbitrary social rules, or to make sure some circle jerk of discord mommies has them locked down so no ones feelings can be hurt. i rolled on herod back in 2019, that "official" discord still has discord mommies starting drama in it, and the server has been shutdown since 2022.

IMO community events like the "We want Fresh" movement naturally lead to gatekeeping. It was the same with unofficial HC on bloodsail buccaneers.
