Trains at Ipswich, GEML - 27/4/19

- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Ipswich on the Great Eastern Main Line where services are seen by Greater Anglia.
I thought Ipswich was a good station, it had quite a bit of traction variety and a decent view going towards Norwich. this is the part of the Great Eastern Main Line where trains by Greater Anglia are operated by diesel units on some branch lines however there ask there are some electric units operating towards London quite frequently. I was impressed by the amount of freight that was in the yard at Ipswich and there were a lot of 66s that operated in and out of the yard.Overall a fantastic station and one that's worth a visit to especially if you like freight.

Great video Kieran! Crown Point is the depot in Norwich. I dont know the livery though.
I sat opposite you on the 11.20 train from Ipswich to Cambridge - you got off at Stowmarket.
Can't remember what that special 170 livery was, but it was 170208 and Crown Point is in Norwich, Intercity servicing depot.

Awesome Video Bud :) Crown Point is at Norwich where most trains stable overnight and the Vinyl Livery was for Breck's and was on 170208 iirc.

Great video. That vynl livery on the 170 back in the days of Abellio Greater Anglia was 'The Brecks' and was on Turbostar unit 170 208. :)

Crown Point is at Norwich and the special 170 livery I can't remember what it was but I did ride on that train from Lowestoft - Ipswich back in 2016!
In 2017 Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe travelled to every single railway station in the UK
And in 2019 Geoff Marshall and Vicki Pipe travelled to every single railway station in Ireland

Incorrect I'm afraid.
I can't for the life of me understand why Cross Country or any other TOC don't operate any services from Ipswich. The choice is terrible. Back in the day we used to have direct trains from Ipswich to Birmingham, Sheffield, Blackpool, and when "The European" boat train was running, all the way to Glasgow. Now it's an abysmal every 2 hours service to Peterborough, or travel via London. Norwich is not much better, all they have is the East Midlands Trains to Liverpool Lime St.

@@hollyhamilton3094 If the caps lock was a mistake then fair enough but I'm not going to change how I film, I have dyspraxia so co-ordination and keeping things still is very difficult so believe me I am trying. I'm not going to use a tripod or anything because that's not how I do things.
Simple answer is if you don't like that then don't watch. 😀
