picked one up based on this excellent review (ordered an A66 but info says I got a Model S). nice little unit. I agree with a few of the comments, this is a great little unit for light-weight, quick games but anything long you're going to end up with cramped hands and squinty eyes from the small screen. it's still fun and easy to carry around. updating the firmware and installing MinUI was easy. thanks!
It was a nice and expected update to original review. Currently it's my daily driver and probably the Chinese handheld I played most since 2019, when I started to collect them.
I hope PowKiddy, Anbernic or GoRetroid as well as other manufacturers will soon bring their new handhelds including better CPUs (RG552) onto the market so that there is some momentum in this area again and something nice to test again.

Your work is amazing! I have to update some features and advises for those who, like me, did all the process of update you talk in this video. First, you have to do exactly what you say and download the versions that you show in your video. Indeed, i tried with more recent files, and it didnt worked (it is written in the shauninman guide). So i DL exactly the same versions as you. Then, if you use the minUi interface, you won't be able to play arcade games, or NEOGEO games. For that, i installed the roms in the same named folders, and i also put in the Bios files (dont know if its relevant). Then, you can go in the tool section, and select "Stock Ui". Then you return to the base presentation, where you can't have many options in the games (for example the scale etc...), but then arcade and neo geo folder appears, and games you put inside. So you can play them. If you want to go back to the Minui version, you just have to go again to the file section, and press on the trimui update zip file, and then quicker you are now on the minui system. I thought it would help! and another thing: if you press menu while browsing the interface, just press L1 and R1 and an other button and then the systems wakes up. Thank you again for your awesome work, you are a genius! Peace++
This video couldn't have come at a better time. Mine arrives either tomorrow of Tuesday. I managed to get mine for $35 off Aliexpress. I guess I never saw your old video, but I'm really glad people have fixed it. I would have been really disappointed if it was as bad as you said the original version was. This thing looks super sleek and great to throw in your pocket for quick games on the go.

Looking for a thin and light device similar to the Nintendo Gsme & Watch's form factor, but with multiple games and a few essential old school emulators. This fits the bill, as I'm not concerned with advanced machines, just older consoles. But as you say, it needs newer firmware to polish up the device a touch.
I know you mentioned SNES and it runs at a limited speed. At the end of the video you had Zelda: Link to the Past running on the device. How well does this device handle this game? Looking to play randomized ROMs of this game. Might pick up this device just for the portability, unless you recommend another.

Watching this has made me realize that whatever the default UI is for this device is almost identical to the default UI in the Miyoo Mini. Interesting.
Is there any way to save through the actual rom itself? I’m playing Pokémon Silver and every time I load through trimui I keep ending up at night instead of the time shifting in game to day. There’s Pokémon I want to catch during the day.
Hi! Do you know the romset version for the FBA on this console in order to add a lot of more roms? I miss some old roms on the provided original SdCard. I'm currently running GMenuNX, I've heard something about a battery drain problem when the console is powered off, do you know something about? Thanks for all this info on your channel!!!
I own the PocketGO1 and can't justify buying this since it serves the purpose of the TrimUI (small portable short gaming sessions) but your video does a good job of making me think I need to buy it lol
Nice vid. Word to the wise, I kept failing to get the PC to recognise the device, I discovered the cable that comes with the device does not work properly, maybe not data compatible. Try a quality cable if you're having issues
Russ, can you update or edit this video as following these instructions now bricks your device since they've updated firmware, but the MinUi has been abandoned.
Hello there. Just tried to Update my Trimui, but when i copy the TrimuiUpdate_MiniUI to the SD Card an put it back in my device, the File ist not shown in the file section. Does anyone else have this problem or any ideas for Help? Greetings Tobi
Anyone know if the TrimUI Model S and PowKiddy A66 are different in any way? or are they the exact same, just rebranded? I can't see, to find a A66 anywhere, that's why I'm asking.
Hello! Thank you so much for the video! Super helpful, i actually got mine with this video! Only problem I am having right now is the audio connection with USB C to 3.5mm headphone jack, have tried with 2 different ones and none work, may you know why this could be? When I connect it the sound cuts for less than a second like it realizes something is connected but then goes back to the regular mono audio.
I followed your instructions and now i can't access most emulators. Bought this for neo geo games and now they don't even show up on the menu. Is there a fix for this?
Just got mine today. I'm happy that it came with my favorite game already inside. However, the d-pad is not fluid which makes changing directions very difficult, which makes playing my favourite game (Defender) very difficult. It also seems to be the first of these devices that doesn't come with Burgertime,...strange? ,...plus the battery doesn't last for jack. Glad I only paid $16 bucks for it!
The zip file isnt showing up in the file folder, when I plug my sd card back in. Not sure why. I'am using a smaller sd card but that shouldn't be a problem. I'm using the most current version of the miniUI. Any help would be appreciated.
Any idea what rom set is used for mame and neo geo arcade? unfortunately mine arrived with no roms (ebay) i've been doing a lot of trial and error trying to get mame and NeoGeo on this thing and no luck, tons of dead ends online, kinda desperate...
166 / 5.000 Resultados de traducción Hi, I'm looking for help, my powkiddy a66 console broke the micro sd, I want to know where I can download the files to make it work, can you help me?
Great video. I just got mine and it is a little crazy device. Some games run like crap and others you think would be harder run fine. Donkey Kong runs fine contrary to top gear... Anyhow I think these will be lapidated over time. But I have a doubt and couldn't find answer anywhere, perhaps you could help me. I wanted to put my own SD instead of the original one so I copied the contents and when I switched on there were no games shown. And on a second note how do I access the menu option for each emulator? Thanks
Does the firmware support neogeo and capcom games still? They both played well on the old firmware but what was bad was there was no button remapping and capcom was all over the place
There is a second custom launcher called GMenu that is more robust, and it has multiple working arcade emulators. That one might be a better option for you! I have links to that one in my written guide.
So the company's new "PowKiddy A66" branding solved all the problems in the process of the solution you presented? If not, then why did they actually change the name.
Damn, no matter what I do I can't connect. When I am in device manager, the only new thing that shows up says "NES Mini". I used to hack my Nmini ages ago, and for some reason my computer thinks this thing is also a nes mini. I guess I'll have to try again on my work computer.
This device has a jacked up dpad and shoulder buttons. The dpad wos but if you press a little too hard the switch classes and it feels like it presses again. Totally unplayable unless you are really careful not to push the dpad too hard.
I was not able to install Minui on 1.04, 1.05, or 1.06 and this device is absolutely dreadful. It never went past 0% when I tried extracting package on 1.05, but 1.06 doesn't even show zip files. Please help.

I cant seem to update the powkiddy version
Is there any way to save through the actual rom itself? I’m playing Pokémon Silver and every time I load through trimui I keep ending up at night instead of the time shifting in game to day. There’s Pokémon I want to catch during the day.
was that a 100 yard pass from Joe Montana on the Super Tecmo Bowl????
Nobody?... :_(
Does the console have a video and music player in either of the two firmwares?
SO if I buy the Powkitty A66, the firmware you installed is already there??
I own the PocketGO1 and can't justify buying this since it serves the purpose of the TrimUI (small portable short gaming sessions) but your video does a good job of making me think I need to buy it lol
Yeah I think the PocketGo v1 is a great portable too!

Nice vid. Word to the wise, I kept failing to get the PC to recognise the device, I discovered the cable that comes with the device does not work properly, maybe not data compatible. Try a quality cable if you're having issues
My hands are to big for a device like this. You need to feel the dpad on the Evercade Russ it's amazing.
My genesis games don’t fit the whole screen and neither tuebografx and I can’t see any options to scale?
question, if I update to the MiniUI and want to install the gmenunx can I still dual boot? atm I can swap between gmenunx and trimUI OS by restarting.
zip files not showing up in the files section on .107
Russ, can you update or edit this video as following these instructions now bricks your device since they've updated firmware, but the MinUi has been abandoned.
Where can I get the roms from? Maybe even as a pack, so I dont haveto download every one, one by one. Thanks!
So there is no way to show game artwork when using MinUI?
Hello there. Just tried to Update my Trimui, but when i copy the TrimuiUpdate_MiniUI to the SD Card an put it back in my device, the File ist not shown in the file section. Does anyone else have this problem or any ideas for Help?
Greetings Tobi
I have this problem as well, did you figure it out?
Anyone know if the TrimUI Model S and PowKiddy A66 are different in any way? or are they the exact same, just rebranded? I can't see, to find a A66 anywhere, that's why I'm asking.
Where and what kind of rrplacement display i can use for this console, i can find it anywhere, can u guys help
Even with the upgrades, seems like the V90 is overall a better buy, but this device is super portable
Where did you find it for $16?
@@lifehackertips Amazon had it for about $60, but gave me a $50 coupon for applying to their credit card.
Looks cool tho. Dang it’s small.
The zip file isnt showing up in the file folder, when I plug my sd card back in. Not sure why. I'am using a smaller sd card but that shouldn't be a problem. I'm using the most current version of the miniUI. Any help would be appreciated.

@@djquintana I figured it out, I appreciate it
Any idea what rom set is used for mame and neo geo arcade? unfortunately mine arrived with no roms (ebay) i've been doing a lot of trial and error trying to get mame and NeoGeo on this thing and no luck, tons of dead ends online, kinda desperate...

Hi, I'm looking for help, my powkiddy a66 console broke the micro sd, I want to know where I can download the files to make it work, can you help me?
@@RetroGameCorps awesome. Thanks for all of your advice. Really appreciate the content you make
So the company's new "PowKiddy A66" branding solved all the problems in the process of the solution you presented?
If not, then why did they actually change the name.
Is it possible to emulate Atari on the A66?
Damn, no matter what I do I can't connect. When I am in device manager, the only new thing that shows up says "NES Mini". I used to hack my Nmini ages ago, and for some reason my computer thinks this thing is also a nes mini. I guess I'll have to try again on my work computer.
Can this device charge with a C to C cable? I know C to A works..
Can you add more consoles to it like Atari 2600,5200,7800?
This device has a jacked up dpad and shoulder buttons. The dpad wos but if you press a little too hard the switch classes and it feels like it presses again. Totally unplayable unless you are really careful not to push the dpad too hard.
How on earth do I get GBA rewind working
The shoulder buttons look super small on this device, do they work ok?
they are, and yes.
cant find the update file in the zip file when i try to update it. tips?
if you still care or havent figured it out see my comment on this video
can the buttons be remapped?
Does it have a standby mode?
I was not able to install Minui on 1.04, 1.05, or 1.06 and this device is absolutely dreadful. It never went past 0% when I tried extracting package on 1.05, but 1.06 doesn't even show zip files. Please help.
