    This is so great! it's like he's just finished work, has no time to change and has a gig down the local and tears the roof off the place!

      Actually I wish he would dress a bit more glamorously and extravagantly for the same reason,he just looks like an office boy who has jumped up to do a bit of karaoke.

    Great to see the whole show. It was a fantastic gig in a great small space. I got to meet him briefly afterwards and get a photo with him 😊

      Thanks David, I just use my five year old phone, LG V30, and hold it in my hands the whole time...unless Brett takes it from me for few seconds, as it happened in Portugal last August ;-)

    I respect Richard Noakes, but also wish he made more effort not to become a Bernard Butler impersonator. Same guitar, same playing style, same stage persona 😂 I guess that's why they hired him, but he should have done his own thing

    • @ADK_Project_41
      @ADK_Project_41  2 года назад +8

      Well, Bernard's been in the band for few years only and two albums (barely), Richard entered almost 30 years ago and has been on seven Suede albums; I think we can safely assume he's just being himself, regardless of the guitar he's playing or his stage persona (just a humble, great guy, playing guitar wonderfully, imo).

    • @chrisjames6327
      @chrisjames6327 2 года назад

      @@ADK_Project_41 For his Suede auditions, he sent in demo tapes of himself perfectly recreating Bernard's playing style. That's literally why he got the gig. Coming Up album - every song sounds like Butler. Just saying, I'm surprised they wanted to clone Bernard Butler, rather than try something new

      @@chrisjames6327 I understand (and know) what you mean, but this is not 1996 anymore. Whatever was happening then, and whatever reason they had to choose him, that 17 year old boy has become a man, with more than two decades playing in Suede. Even if it was the case back then (and I have no problem with that) it can't be the case now. In 30 years a lot of things change, all people evolve, etc etc. At the time some people said that BB was 'copying' (or at least getting inspired by) Mick Ronson; maybe he was, maybe not, but in any case later on he developed his personal style, and the same did Richard.

      I mean, being a Suede fan, I can say that Bernard Butler was a one hell of a guitarist, but he was no innovator or a pioneer. His style was basically about being a sort of rhythm / solo guitarist in one go, not just strumming chords, but kind of embellishing them with licks and riffs. Though it doesn't really scream ingenuity, this is not that frequently used by bands, so it ended up distinguishing Suede. Richard Oakes, especially at this point, isn't mimicking Bernard Butler, he is just being a Suede guitarist and sticking to a decent and sustainable technique. And, may I say, he's doing it pretty damn well.
