Thank you for the video. I have a quick question, I known tretinion is the golden child of anti aging but how do you feel about tazarotene? I been using tazarotene the last couple months just to change up my routine.
Tazarotene is the strongest of the retinoid family but very similar in efficacy to Retinoic acid. Generally it can be used less often than retinoic acid.

it's not bad if your skin tolerates it. The Eyemax has so many hydrating and beneficial properties for the eye area that you can double up if you want to.

I have been using AlphaRet for the last 2 weeks and love it, already see results, I don't know if I could handle tretinoin with it, ..by the way what's A-team?
I’m hoping you can clarify if the skin better alpharet cream is a retinoid or retinol? I rotate between prescription tazorac and Tretinoin and my understanding of the definition of a retinoid is that they are already in thier active form and usually if not always requires a prescription/ doctor to obtain. Retinol requires your skin to go through one or two step conversion before becoming active depending on the Source. My confusion comes from several Sources that called alpharet I RETINOID and other sources call it a retinol. Dr Sugi a dermatologist who has a channel here on RUclips and carries the skinbetter products at his dermatology office posted a video today calling skinbetter alpharet cream a retinoid and said he was told by the reps that it contains Tretinoin that is combined with lactic acid?? So Now I’m perplexed lol. I have the alpharet cream and I just like to know the correct info on what I’m putting on my skin. I use the alpharet on my neck and chest. Thank you so much 🙏🏼❤️
I don't blame you one bit. I like to know what goes on my skin as well. A "retinoid" is a non specific umbrella term for all vitamin A derivatives, it can be tretinoin, retinol, retinaldehyde etc. Retinol is a specific formulation and yes it needs to be converted by the skin to the active form of retinoic acid. Tretinoin is retinoic acid. Alpharet technology is an innovative new retinoid. It is not a retinol. It is ethyl lactyl retinoate. You can think of it as a retinoid that has a double bond with a retinoid. Once it goes on the skin, the bonds break and you have lactic acid and the retinoate. This formulation is quite strong when compared to many retinols but the cream contains balancing soothing ingredients to prevent irritation.
@@theocbeautymd thank you so much!! You explained so well and yes makes perfect sense. I guess I just needed it further explained to me as It is unique. Can’t wait for a follow up on your high dose tret routine. I’m very very interested and await to hear more 💕
@@lindaackerman3507 The results are so good with alpharet because you get the benefit of the retinoid and you also exfoliate with the glycolic and lactic acid. It's a very elegant formula. The tretinoin doesn't contain alpha hydroxy acids. I believe that tretinoin especially at the 0.05% and 0.1% have more of the known tretinoin benefits because the concentration is higher but it's difficult to know for sure
I noticed that you didn't put any of the retinoids or any of the other active product on your upper lip. For those of us who have lip lines, could you please explain why you don't put anything on them? Thank you.
I do apply products to my upper lip. I try not to show the entire application process to save time and occasionally I may forget something when I'm filming because I'm focusing on my audience so my attention is divided.
Do you think the Alpharet is stronger than Avene Retinal 0.1? I have been tolerating Avene Retinal 0.1 twice daily for 6 months. I have had no peeling.
That is a hard question 🤓 Retinaldehyde is in the Avene and that is more powerful thank retinol. In clinical trials, the alpharet was tested against a 1% retinol (equivalent to approx 0.025% retinoic acid aka tretinoin). While the retinal is stronger than retinol, in the Avene product it's pretty low on the ingredients list. Without knowing the actual concentration, it's so hard to know. I do know this for sure, if you are tolerating it well, you can definitely move up a notch to increase the concentration for more significant results. 💪
Ok I thought there were a lot of studies between 0.025% tretinoin and 0.1% for anti aging and there were no significant differences between the percentages as far as anti aging and said to use 0.1% for acne ? I swear I read a study on this a few years ago and that is why I’ve stuck with 0.025% 😱 am I remembering this wrong!
It depends on how you use tretinoin. Dr. Obagi has a program with 3 different concentrations. The highest is 0.1% TWICE daily. The lowest 0.025% nightly. This program lasts 5 months and people on the highest concentrations have significantly results results. After that he recommends a retinol of 0.025% tret for the rest of the year. (I have a video on this). The skin reaches a point where more retin a will not give more results, only side effects. I definitely think that 0.1% does more than 0.025%. I also think there is no reason to use more than 0.1% .
You’re right! I read the study wrong. I believe it was that at a year or something there weren’t too many significant differences but since I commented that I did go up in strength after using 0.025% for 11 years solid and within about 60 days I have seen so many results that I just stopped seeing with 0.025%. I’m loving your videos on this topic and am now going to do Dr. Obajis method under my dermatologists supervision. We had a back and forth about it for about 3 weeks and she finally said go ahead lol. She’s been prescribing me and my mom(28 years of retinA use) and me 11 years and didn’t know about Obaji method til I sent her your video! Now she’s doing it as well! She’s a very close family friend so I’m comfortable doing this otherwise my dr would think I was a little crazy lol❤
Maybe you can handle tretinoin on your neck because you don't use acids there. If i were you, i would back off of acids on my face and try tretinoin again. Tret is the gold standart of anti-aging and it's a shame that you can't use it enough to really make a difference.
