I wonder why people hate it so much but I personally enjoyed watching it though.
i enjoyed the movie too but i understand why people hate it. Mulan is a Mary Sue here. She has to overcome nothing, she doesn't grow as a character. In this new version they used " chi" to justify her just naturally being good at fighting, instead of growing as a warrior using her other abilities instead of brute strength, such as in the original balad and animated movie.
Also "chi" is used wrongly, since in the chinese culture chi is something that flows through all of us, so them saying " you cant have chi" or " chi is for warriors not daughters" is very awkward and ignorant.
Jet Li looks very much like Fu Man Chu. That's why.
@@rumours6435 I get your point. From my point of view, 1 major thing is that the dragon has been removed in the show, a lot of people upset about it. I too upset though and they should have added more CGI scenes. Overall this movie is OK for me.
They filmed next to Muslim concentration camps and used their land, where they used to live before they murdered them all. It’s as if the nazis created a film and filmed right next to where all the Jewish people were getting killed. Alongside, the main actress publicly praised China and does not support Hong Kong’s freedom. So yes there are many reasons people don’t support this film.
You need to watch the 2009 live action, then you'll understand.

She is Hua Mulan in our Chinese heart.This legendary film of Chinese history deserves to be shown on big screens all over the world！When I watched this movie on the Chinese screen, my heart was filled with emotion. Yes! I'm finding some comment like this! Most people are too focua on finding mushu and other things from the real ver. but this movie, this movie gives me more confidence and realistic ideas. The actors made justice the live-action ver. And I also felt, like, I watched a newer and more bolder ver. of mulan. More eye opener and more stronger. Like a newly created adoptation (well, as it is)

@@anweshaghosh2798 yeah. It saddened me somehow. Reading those comments and me finding myself in different movie version of Mulan. I almost asked "what on earth is wrong with u guys?" haha. Sometimes I don't want to blubber but, I find those people nutshells. Like "Can't you just get the real essense of Mulan's journey? Why talk how trash the disney if u watched the orig. ver. then?" sorry. Just got carried away haha.

Normally I’m not a fan of live actions. But this one is probably one of the very very very few that made their own version but delivered the same messages, the same drama, the same symbolism. And I quite enjoyed this movie.

The film is actually very good, however the problem is that it is not the film itself but that Disney had said it was a Life action and from what we all know thelife action is basically that the animated film is in the real world with actors from flesh and blood but the story is the same in this case the Mulan movie has a completely different story the account is not too bad but they would have said it would be a new version but not Life action As for example from the Snow White movie and the hunter which is with Kristen Stewart and with Chris hemsworth which is basically a new version of the story is not a Life action is not even from Disney but it deals with the story Snow White in a much darker way, if Disney would have done this story as a new version it would have been amaizing.

It was beautiful. Powerful. Emotional. Of course its definitely a change from the original animation but the value and element is tattooed there
Honesty I think it was great! I liked how Disney put their own twist on the movie instead of it being a copy and paste remake. People just like to complain (and it is hard to make a remake of the Mulan and make everyone be satisfied). Anyways definitely worth the watch!

The emperor did because she turned down an offer of command in the royal army to make amends to her family when she snuck off in the middle of the night, stealing her fathers armor and sword to take his place. She thought it was more important to make amends to her family than to seek honor and glory by being the first female commanding officer in the Emperor's army. And the Emperor agreed, so he had the fourth virtue, "Devotion to family", inscribed on her sword.
