  • When I think back to the first Medicom MAFEX C-3PO. I only remember pain. Suffering. Despair. So I told myself I would never get the Star Wars: The Force Awakens version with BB-8. I wish I hadn't listened to myself, this set is awesome!

    It would have been awesome had they given you a second gold left arm. Would have made it the perfect model then.

    That BB-8 is awesome. WANT.
    Truth be told, C-3PO with a red arm is probably the most endearing I've ever found him. I was kind of anti-C-3PO prior to TFA but his joke about the red arm was perfect. It still makes me chuckle. If I wasn't content with the Black series version I would probably get this.

    • @TheFwoosh

      I just put it on the shelf with the red arm still on it but I still lean towards OT 3PO.

  • @tpickup11

    Wow, I'm tempted to pick this up now! I wish they made it where BB-8 could roll like in the movie with the way Hot Toys did their BB-8, but other than that, this BB-8 could be used for a shelf display and since I hollowed out the base of my Bandai BB-8 to roll like in the movie, I can use the Bandai BB-8 for film making! This C-3PO blew my mind though and I don't even have him... it's like Figuarts Harley from Suicide Squad all over again! LMAO!!! I bet Figuarts R2 and 3PO will be the same exact way until I get them! I really need a 6 inch 3PO from the Galactic Era or even the Clone Wars era or at least one I can use for TCW (my favorite era) and I'm also trying to find that perfect R2. I hope they manage to make a 1/12 scaled BB-8 that rolls like the movie model but I don't know if it'll happen. But we can always hope, right?

    my Mafex experience so far: Empire Boba, looks great, hands fall off too easy, overall I don't regret it. Kylo ren: face does not look as good as it did in promo pics, soft goods are not great, saber and helmet are awesome, I could have skipped it, Phasma, everything about her is great I love her. I have this 3p0 and bb8 on the way, glad to see they will likely fall in the boba fett category.

    If it takes a little super gluing here 'n' there it's not so bad given that the figure is probably the best looking one out there. I know you shouldn't have to put in elbow grease out of the package, but I don't see a big deal about it...! Or am I wrong?

    My One Complaint about the C-3PO is that some of the Proportions are Off. Mainly, the Crotch Part of the Hips is too Narrow, and the Flares at the Upper Thigh at the Hip Flare Out too much.

    Just got this set - wow! New sculpt for C-3PO head and much improved (i.e. doesn't fall apart at all). Hoping for a "New Hope" C-3PO 2.0 using this updated sculpt. There is precedence for this with their Dark Knight stuff. Great Review!!!

    dang, looks like a great set here. if I'm being honest though, the gold sheens look reversed to me. 3P0 was very dull in the force awakens and pretty shiny in the original trilogy if I remember correctly... Model kit is still king for me!

    • @TheFwoosh

    Good review, nice feature with the weight / magnet in BB8 too, though I'm sticking with my model kit R2 and C3PO for now - Figuarts will have to smash it out of the park to get me to consider them.

    Robo, we went back and forth a bit about C3PO and the Mandela Effect and it seems to have struck again with this review. The first version has a gold foot and silver lower leg and that's exactly how I remember and it just looks right compared to the other versions which are either completely gold or have the lower leg and foot silver. I just can't let this go. Very trippy to me. Another thing I recently noticed and wanted your opinion on is chewie's bow caster. Everything I've seen recently show the scope piece on the top as two small scopes side by side with a tube in between them. My memory of it is of one large scope on top. Thoughts?

    • @jerretzwicker599
      @jerretzwicker599 7 лет назад +1

      ***** Look into the Mandela Effect. It's pretty freaky if you look a bit in depth without dismissing it before hand. I know the way it currently is but I have (as well as thousands and thousands of others) have very vivid memories of things being different when we first saw them but history shows there was never a change although you can find plenty of residual proof left over if you search. Look up videos by Moneybag on RUclips to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

      Walter Hoover gel cyanocrilate or two component epoxy will do the job

    • @TheFwoosh
      @TheFwoosh  7 лет назад

      Thanks, man! I just use a basic super glue for little stuff like this, Loctite mostly.

    • @ViceArancibia
      @ViceArancibia 7 лет назад

      I don't know which are the brands there (I live in Chile) but cyanocrilate is the basic active component. Do you understand what I mean by "gel"? I don't know how they call that kind of glue there, maybe "jelly"... It's the one that's not liquid, but a bit solid, that one is better for this as its not only stronger and gap filler, but it has some flexibility too. You can't go wrong with 2 component epoxy tho, it's the stronger one, just make sure to build a small machine to keep it strongly pressed in precise place for 10 mins to achieve optimal results :p
