Don’t know why so many comments say Neil is underrated. He’s not, he’s very highly highly rated and will go down as one of the greats.

Because people on the internet say everything is underrated, even when it's not. I agree though. He is very highly rated and is one of NZ's best musicians along with his brother Tim.
He is highly recognised. He took Lindsey Buckingham's place in FM. He is a highly respected artist and musician

The NZ accent is considered the softest of the English speaking accents. I think that's partly why his voice is quite soft and relaxing.

Melbourne has the wackiest weather imaginable. I got there one February day in 1995 and it was a suffocating 40 degrees and the following morning dawned blue and hot even at 8am so we headed out in shorts and tee shirt to sightsee. Our friend’s au pair looked at us like we were mad saying ‘there’s a cool change coming’ and sure enough by midday the temperature was dropping like a stone and by 3pm we were shivering in 15 degrees ( never experienced anything like it)
Actually it's written about Auckland. Where Niel spent most of his younger years. Look at this line of the song "The sun shines on the black clouds hanging over The Domain"
The Domain is the name of Aucklands central park.
@@RockyRaccoon1122 I think there is probably an amalgamation of ideas and inspiration in that song. Finn certainly wrote it whilst living in Melbourne ( an Auckland is really way more temperate, predictable and equable than even somewhere like Christchurch let alone Melbourne). It didn’t occur to me that Auckland has a ‘domain’ but Melbourne doesn’t so that’s a pointer that his home city was part inspiration

You have got that completely incorrect in regard to weather. Auckland is famous for having four seasons in one day because of its sub tropical marine climate. Christchurch however has very predictable weather because of the Southern Alps.
In regard to the the domain, this is the most famous park in Auckland and every Aucklander knows instantly what you mean if you say "the domain". Its not something anyone would have to look up like you just did.
@@RockyRaccoon1122 okay Rocky that’s fine I don’t dispute anything you say about Auckland and it’s weather even though it almost never varies by more than 10 degrees in any season ( my visit in March 1995 doesn’t qualify me as an authority even though it was a steady 22degrees literally every day) but Neil Finn is on record, on tape, being interviewed saying that Melbourne weather was the song’s inspiration. Seriously though it’s not really important we can both agree it’s a wonderful song whichever city inspired it
